Yes. Samsung Galaxy Buds can connect to an iPhone through Bluetooth for music, calls and supported touch controls. The major limitation is software: Samsung lists only Galaxy Buds+ and Galaxy Buds Live as compatible with its iPhone app. Other listed models work as Bluetooth earphones but do not get that app-based layer of settings and updates.
That means an iPhone owner can use Galaxy Buds, but the experience depends on the exact model. Pairing is straightforward; matching the controls, diagnostics and ecosystem features available on a Samsung phone is not guaranteed.

Which Galaxy Buds work with an iPhone?
Samsung’s U.S. compatibility page lists Galaxy Buds4, Buds4 Pro, Buds3, Buds3 Pro, Buds2, Buds Pro and the original Galaxy Buds as Bluetooth-compatible with iOS. It separately lists Galaxy Buds+ and Galaxy Buds Live as compatible with the Samsung Galaxy Buds iOS app. See Samsung’s current model list at Samsung’s Galaxy Buds iOS compatibility page.

In practical terms, all of those listed models can be used as wireless Bluetooth earbuds with an iPhone. Only the two app-supported models have the additional iOS application route described by Samsung. A Bluetooth connection therefore does not imply that every feature, setting or firmware tool will appear on iOS.

| Galaxy Buds model | Bluetooth connection to iPhone | Samsung Galaxy Buds iOS app | Minimum version stated by Samsung |
|---|---|---|---|
| Galaxy Buds4 | Yes | Not listed as app-compatible | Bluetooth support: iPhone 5 or later with iOS 9.0 or higher |
| Galaxy Buds4 Pro | Yes | Not listed as app-compatible | Bluetooth support: iPhone 5 or later with iOS 9.0 or higher |
| Galaxy Buds3 | Yes | Not listed as app-compatible | Bluetooth support: iPhone 5 or later with iOS 9.0 or higher |
| Galaxy Buds3 Pro | Yes | Not listed as app-compatible | Bluetooth support: iPhone 5 or later with iOS 9.0 or higher |
| Galaxy Buds2 | Yes | Not listed as app-compatible | Bluetooth support: iPhone 5 or later with iOS 9.0 or higher |
| Galaxy Buds Pro | Yes | Not listed as app-compatible | Bluetooth support: iPhone 5 or later with iOS 9.0 or higher |
| Original Galaxy Buds | Yes | Not listed as app-compatible | Bluetooth support: iPhone 5 or later with iOS 9.0 or higher |
| Galaxy Buds+ | Yes | Yes | App: iPhone 7 or later with iOS 10 or higher |
| Galaxy Buds Live | Yes | Yes | App: iPhone 7 or later with iOS 10 or higher |
The version requirements in the table describe two different pathways. Samsung’s Bluetooth note says iPhone 5 and later running iOS 9.0 or higher are supported for Bluetooth use. The separate app requirement is stricter: the Galaxy Buds app for Buds+ and Buds Live requires iPhone 7 or later running iOS 10 or higher. An older iPhone may therefore meet the Bluetooth requirement while failing the app requirement.
Bluetooth pairing versus app compatibility
What Bluetooth gives you
Bluetooth is the basic connection method. Samsung’s support guide states that “Your earbuds can connect to Bluetooth devices for streaming music or making calls.” On an iPhone, that generally means selecting the earbuds in iOS Bluetooth settings and then using them as the audio output for music, video, podcasts and phone calls.
Samsung also describes touchpad controls as available when the earbuds are Bluetooth-connected. The exact commands depend on the model and its stored configuration, so do not assume that a tap, press or swipe has the same result across every Buds generation.

What the iOS app adds
For Buds+ and Buds Live, the Galaxy Buds app can expose additional controls. Samsung’s connection guide identifies battery status, equalizer settings, touchpad settings, Find My Earbuds and software updates among the app functions. The App Store listing also names Ambient Sound for Buds+ and Active Noise Cancelling for Buds Live.
Those functions are model-specific. The app’s presence on an iPhone does not turn every Galaxy Buds model into an app-supported model, and a setting shown in the App Store description is not a promise that it appears on every firmware or app release. Samsung’s compatibility information establishes which models are listed, not identical menus across all versions.
Which features are unavailable on iPhone?
Samsung’s guide identifies three iOS limitations for Bluetooth-connected earbuds:
Rank #3
- OUTSIDE NOISE? NOT YOUR PROBLEM: Hear what you want and not what you don’t with improved Active Noise Cancellation¹,². And, when you wish to enjoy your audio while staying aware of your surroundings, switch to the Ambient mode and you’re set.
- YOUR EVERYDAY SOUND, NOW MORE POWERFUL: Galaxy Buds3 FE pack a bigger¹ 11mm dynamic speaker with deep bass and powerful sound that make everything from daily commutes to weekend playlists sound amazing.
- EVERY CALL, LOUD AND CLEAR: Confidently hear and be heard on phone calls with family and friends, thanks to the added microphone and enhanced background noise reduction¹ on Galaxy Buds3 FE.
- UNINTERRUPTED AUDIO WITH A LONG-LASTING BATTERY: Go long between charges with a long-lasting battery³. And, when it’s time to recharge, do it quickly and get right back on track.
- TALK TO GEMINI, HANDS-FREE: With hands-free access to Gemini⁴, smart assistance is always within earshot. No need to reach for your phone anymore as Galaxy Buds3 FE let you get help on the go, just by using your voice.⁵
- iOS notifications are unavailable.
- Gaming mode is unavailable.
- Spotify integration is unavailable.
These are separate from ordinary Bluetooth playback. You can still listen and make calls, but you should not expect the same notification handling, gaming setting or Spotify-specific integration described for supported Galaxy devices.
Do not assume that every Galaxy ecosystem feature will carry over either. The cited Samsung pages establish model-level app support and the listed iOS restrictions; they do not guarantee automatic device switching, identical touch assignments, every firmware option or every feature available on a Samsung phone.
How to connect Galaxy Buds to an iPhone
For models that use Bluetooth only
- Charge the earbuds and case sufficiently for setup. Keep the earbuds near the iPhone.
- Put the earbuds into Bluetooth pairing mode. The method differs by model. Samsung’s Galaxy earbuds connection guide provides separate pairing-mode instructions for the original Galaxy Buds, Buds+, Buds Live, Buds Pro, Buds2/Buds2 Pro and Buds3/Buds3 Pro. Follow the section for your exact earbuds rather than guessing from another generation.
- On the iPhone, open Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth on.
- Wait for the Galaxy Buds name to appear under available devices, then tap it.
- After the status changes to connected, play audio and place a test call. If sound remains on the iPhone speaker, select the earbuds from the playback destination or call-audio output control.
If the earbuds do not appear, return them to pairing mode and keep the case open nearby. A Buds set that is still connected to another device may not advertise itself for a new connection until that existing connection is ended.

For Galaxy Buds+ and Galaxy Buds Live
- Confirm that the iPhone is an iPhone 7 or later running iOS 10 or higher, which is Samsung’s stated minimum for the app.
- Install the Samsung Galaxy Buds app from the Apple App Store listing.
- Put the earbuds into pairing mode using the model-specific instructions in Samsung’s connection guide.
- Open the app and follow its connection prompts. If the app does not discover the earbuds, use Settings > Bluetooth to confirm that the iPhone can see them, then retry the app setup.
- Once connected, inspect the controls the app actually exposes for your model and firmware. Use the app for any available battery, equalizer, touchpad, Find My Earbuds or update functions rather than assuming all listed controls apply to both models.
If your iPhone is older than the app requirement, use the Bluetooth procedure instead. Bluetooth support and app support are different compatibility claims.
Can Galaxy Buds connect to more than one device?
Samsung says the earbuds cannot be connected to multiple devices simultaneously. This matters when moving between an iPhone, tablet or computer: disconnect the Buds from the current device, then put them into pairing mode or select them from the next device’s Bluetooth menu.

What to check before buying or using a used pair
- Identify the exact model. “Galaxy Buds” covers several generations, and only Buds+ and Buds Live are listed as compatible with Samsung’s iOS app.
- Check the iPhone version. Bluetooth use has a stated minimum of iPhone 5 with iOS 9.0 or higher; the app requires iPhone 7 or later with iOS 10 or higher.
- Set expectations about controls. Bluetooth playback and calls are supported, but iOS notifications, Gaming mode and Spotify integration are listed as unavailable.
- Ask whether updates matter. Samsung lists software updates as an app function for app-supported models. For models without iOS app support, the cited pages do not establish an iPhone-based update method.
- Check the original owner’s connections. Because simultaneous connections are not supported, remove the Buds from another nearby device or disconnect that device during setup.
Troubleshooting an iPhone connection
The Buds do not appear in Bluetooth
- Make sure the earbuds are in the correct pairing mode for their model, using Samsung’s model-specific guide.
- Move them close to the iPhone and keep the case open if the model requires that for pairing.
- Disconnect the Buds from any other phone, tablet or computer. Samsung says simultaneous connections are not supported.
- Turn Bluetooth off and on from Settings > Bluetooth, then search again.
- If the earbuds were previously saved but will not reconnect, tap the information button beside their name and choose Forget This Device, then repeat pairing mode and setup.
The app cannot find Buds+ or Buds Live
First verify the app requirement—iPhone 7 or later and iOS 10 or higher. Then confirm that the earbuds are in pairing mode and that they are not actively connected to another device. If Bluetooth sees the earbuds but the app does not, complete the basic Bluetooth pairing first and reopen the app. The available menus can vary by model and software version.
Audio works but an expected feature is missing
Check whether the missing function is one of Samsung’s documented iOS limitations: notifications, Gaming mode and Spotify integration are unavailable. For other controls, verify the model. Battery, equalizer, touchpad, Find My Earbuds and update tools are described as app functions, while the app is listed only for Buds+ and Buds Live.
Is using Galaxy Buds with an iPhone worth it?
Galaxy Buds make sense for an iPhone owner who already has a compatible pair, wants ordinary wireless audio and calls, or prefers a particular Buds design. Bluetooth provides the core listening connection without requiring Samsung’s app.

The compromise is strongest for buyers who want deep configuration. If app-based settings, software updates, battery information or model-specific sound controls are essential, restrict your expectations to Buds+ and Buds Live—the two models Samsung lists for the iOS app—and confirm that the app supports the iPhone you own. For every other listed model, treat the purchase as a Bluetooth-earbud decision, not as access to the full Galaxy software experience.
