Metro: Last Light Redux includes the previously released Last Light DLC. Metro 2033 Redux preserves Metro 2033’s two-ending structure, including its alternate ending. The games are separate releases; Metro Redux is the collection containing both. Nintendo’s Switch listing describes that collection as including all DLC and two complete campaigns, but DLC inventories can vary by storefront and edition, so check the exact listing for the platform you plan to buy.
At a glance
| Release | What the official descriptions establish | What is not established by those descriptions |
|---|---|---|
| Metro 2033 Redux | The remastered Metro 2033 campaign keeps the original two-ending structure, including an alternate finale. | A platform-by-platform list of every included add-on is not provided in the sources cited for this comparison. |
| Metro: Last Light Redux | Previous Last Light DLC content is included. This is stated by the Xbox store listing and a PLAION support page. | The cited sources do not give a complete named DLC inventory or document the number and conditions of Last Light’s endings. |
| Metro Redux collection | It bundles both Redux campaigns. Nintendo’s Switch product page describes two complete campaigns, all DLC, and “a further 10 hours of bonus content.” | That broad Switch wording should not automatically be treated as an identical itemized inventory for every platform, region, or edition. |
What “Metro Redux” means
There are two similarly named games and one collection. Metro 2033 Redux is the remastered version of the first game. Metro: Last Light Redux is the remastered version of the sequel. Metro Redux is the bundle that packages both definitive versions.

This distinction matters when you read a store page. A page for Last Light Redux can promise its own earlier DLC without saying anything about Metro 2033’s content. A collection page can describe both campaigns and “all DLC” at the bundle level. Treat the title on the page, not the word “Redux” alone, as the guide to what you are buying.
Does Last Light Redux include its DLC?
The documented answer is yes
The official Xbox listing for Metro: Last Light Redux says that all previous DLC content is included. PLAION’s support page repeats that previous DLC content is part of the Redux release. In practical terms, buying Last Light Redux is not the same as buying the original base game and then rebuilding its old add-on package separately.

- Immerse yourself in the Moscow Metro - witness One of the most atmospheric worlds in gaming brought to life on Nintendo Switch
- Brave the horrors of the Russian Apocalypse - equip your gasmask and an arsenal of hand-made weaponry as you face the threat of deadly mutants, human foes, and the terrifying environment itself
- Two campaigns, and all DLC included - Metro Redux includes two complete campaigns that combine to create One epic solo adventure, plus a further 10 hours of bonus content
- Two unique play styles: 'spartan' And 'survival' - approach the campaign as a slow burn survival horror, or tackle it with the combat skills of a spartan ranger in these two unique modes
The wording supports a general inclusion claim, not an exhaustive checklist. Neither cited page names every mission, character pack, weapon pack, or other item one by one. If a particular add-on is important to you, open the current store page for your platform and look for an explicit contents list rather than assuming that every storefront uses identical labels.
What “previous DLC” does not mean
It refers to add-on content released for Last Light. It does not mean that Last Light Redux contains Metro 2033 Redux’s campaign, nor does it include downloadable expansions made for the later game Metro Exodus. Those are separate products and should not be folded into a Last Light purchase.
Does Metro 2033 Redux keep the alternate ending?
Yes: Redux retains two finales
Metro 2033 Redux did not remove the original game’s ending structure. In a 2014 WIRED interview, a 4A Games representative said: We’ve not changed the storyline or the mechanics that lead to the two endings.
That statement directly addresses the Redux version of Metro 2033.

- Two campaigns, and all DLC included - Metro Redux includes two complete campaigns that combine to create one epic solo adventure, plus a further 10 hours of bonus content. Two unique Play Styles and Ranger Mode add hours more replayability!
- Two unique Play Styles : 'Spartan' and 'Survival' - approach the campaign as a slow burn Survival Horror , or tackle it with the combat skills of a Spartan Ranger in these two unique modes
An academic discussion published in 2023 likewise describes Metro 2033 Redux as having two finales: the canonical conclusion and an alternate ending in which the player can choose not to destroy the Dark Ones. The remaster therefore preserves the story outcome that returning players may remember as the “good,” “alternate,” or non-canonical ending, depending on the terminology they use.
What was not changed
The important point is not merely that two video clips remain in the files. The quote says the storyline and the mechanics that lead to those endings were not changed. Redux keeps the decision structure and the gameplay behavior that determine which finale you see.
That does not make the alternate ending automatic. As in the original design, the ending you reach depends on how you play and on the relevant story and moral choices. The edition preserves the possibility; it does not turn both endings into simultaneous outcomes in one playthrough.

Does Last Light Redux include all of Last Light’s endings?
The available official descriptions establish DLC inclusion for Last Light Redux, but they do not independently state how many endings Last Light has or spell out the conditions for each one. It would therefore be inaccurate to attach a specific ending count to Last Light Redux on the basis of the cited evidence alone.

The two-ending confirmation applies to Metro 2033 Redux, not automatically to its sequel. What is included in the Metro Redux collection?
Two complete campaigns
4A Games describes Metro Redux as the collection of the definitive versions of both Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light. The Xbox bundle listing names both Redux games, while Nintendo’s Switch listing describes two complete campaigns.

- Immerse yourself in the Moscow Metro - witness One of the most atmospheric worlds in gaming brought to life on Nintendo Switch

“All DLC” on the Switch listing
Nintendo’s official Switch page advertises the collection as including all DLC and a further 10 hours of bonus content. The 10-hour figure is promotional product-page language, not an independently measured playtime guarantee. It is best read as Nintendo’s description of the additional material supplied with that Switch collection.
The phrase “all DLC” is useful at the bundle level, but it should not be stretched into a universal, itemized promise for every edition. Store pages can differ by platform, territory, release package, and the way they group downloadable content. The cited sources do not provide a single cross-platform checklist that proves every version presents exactly the same entries.

Standalone games versus the bundle
| If you buy… | You should expect… | Check before paying |
|---|---|---|
| Metro 2033 Redux alone | The remastered first campaign with its preserved two-ending structure. | Whether the store page identifies any separate bonus content for your platform. |
| Metro: Last Light Redux alone | The remastered sequel and its previously released Last Light DLC, according to the Xbox and PLAION descriptions. | The current listing if you need a named inventory of every add-on. |
| Metro Redux collection | Both Redux campaigns. Nintendo’s Switch listing also says all DLC and 10 additional hours of bonus content are included. | The edition, region, and platform wording, especially if a particular DLC item is the reason for your purchase. |
Buying the collection is not required to obtain the ending structure of Metro 2033 Redux; that structure belongs to the standalone first game as well. Conversely, buying Metro 2033 Redux does not give you Last Light’s campaign or Last Light’s add-ons.

- Become the most feared pirate in the Caribbean in Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag. Take part in an award-winning naval experience and explore a massive open world.
- Become the ultimate assassin hunter in Assassin’s Creed Rogue, and play as a Templar for the first time in franchise history.

How to verify a store listing before purchase
- Identify the exact product name. Confirm whether the page says Metro 2033 Redux, Metro: Last Light Redux, or Metro Redux. Similar naming is the most common source of mistaken assumptions.
- Read the platform’s contents section. Look for wording such as “previous DLC content included,” “all DLC,” or a named list of missions and packs.
- Check the edition and region. A physical cartridge, digital download, bundle, or regional storefront can describe the same collection differently.
- Separate campaign claims from DLC claims. “Two complete campaigns” means both main games are present; it does not by itself enumerate every add-on.
- Look for a date or current listing status. Store pages can be revised, delisted, or repackaged, so use the page attached to the version you can actually purchase.
Common misconceptions
“Redux” is one enlarged game
No. Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux remain separate games with separate campaigns. Metro Redux is the name used for the two-game collection.
Last Light DLC is automatically Metro 2033 content
No. The documented DLC inclusion concerns Last Light Redux. It does not turn Metro 2033 Redux into a bundle containing sequel missions.
“All DLC” proves every platform has the same package
No. The strongest broad wording in the cited material is Nintendo’s Switch listing. Other official pages confirm previous Last Light DLC, but no source here supplies a complete itemized inventory shared by every platform and region.

The two-ending statement applies to both games
No. The 4A Games interview specifically addresses Metro 2033 Redux. The cited material does not establish a Last Light ending count or its full ending conditions.
Bottom line for buyers and returning players
If you want the first game with its alternate finale intact, Metro 2033 Redux keeps both endings. If you want the sequel with its old add-ons, Last Light Redux is documented as including the previously released Last Light DLC. If you want both campaigns in one purchase, Metro Redux is the collection; Nintendo’s Switch listing describes that package as including all DLC plus 10 hours of bonus content.
For a particular mission, pack, or platform, use the exact current store listing as the final check. The official descriptions support the broad inclusion claims, but they do not establish one universal, named DLC inventory or a sourced ending count for Last Light.
