DMZ Deep Dive, Part 1: Tour of Duty — Hajin Environments and Threats

Hajin DMZ runs are a risk-and-extraction loop: use the Forward Operating Base to prepare, choose objectives and a route, read local threats as they change, then extract to secure your rewards. Call of Duty’s October 5, 2026 Tour of Duty – Hajin guide describes the game’s systems and locations; its threat labels and landmark details are in-game intel, not verified real-world geography.

What a Hajin deployment asks you to manage

DMZ is an open-world extraction mode. You enter to loot, complete objectives, and fight AI enemies or rival Operators. Loot can support combat, missions, and later deployments, but rewards are secured by extracting; staying longer can expose the squad to more danger.

Preparation happens at the Forward Operating Base (FOB), which Call of Duty calls the DMZ command center. It handles Operators, stash and loadout, DMZ Orders, and progression. The publisher says the FOB can expand through operations into a base with “over a dozen different Stations.” DMZ Player Level is described as ranging from Level 1 to 70; these are game progression figures, not real-world measures.

How Hajin’s environments shape a route

The official tour names 13 major POIs. Read them as game locations with distinct playable functions, not as evidence of a literal map of the Korean peninsula. Call of Duty’s descriptions and threat ratings are its current game intel for these areas.

Playable setting Named POIs Route consideration
Fortified and military sites 14th Political Prison; Chang-san Air Base Expect concentrated opposition and weigh the listed local Threat before entering.
Urban districts and commercial buildings Deadtown; Cheongun Village; Mirae General Hospital; NuriGO Mall; The Grid; Wolves Stadium; Hajin River Heights Buildings and denser streets can shape sightlines, movement, and encounters; check the map and threat indicator rather than assuming all districts behave alike.
Rural settlements and farmland Imjin Farmland Open or rural routes may help break contact, but do not treat them as risk-free.
Industrial or energy infrastructure Cheonwang Peak Array; Haneul Nuclear Reactor Use the Tac-Map to inspect the approach and nearby hazards before committing.
Coastal, riverside, and transport areas Songdo Wharf Water access and transport options can change the route, but vehicles still have operating limits.

These groupings are practical ways to think about the tour, not official threat classes. For specific landmarks, locations, and their current in-game ratings, consult the official Hajin guide.

Read the Tac-Map and HUD together

The Tac-Map is more than a route display. It can show objectives, points of interest, threat areas, compounds, important buildings, caches, radiation, your position, nearby enemies, and pings. Zoom in to inspect terrain and hazards, ping a destination, and use grid references to coordinate. The guide gives D7 as an example coordinate for Imjin Farmland.

The HUD supplies the live context to interpret that map: time until radiation intensifies, current objectives, compass, location Threat, hostile kill count, squad status, cash, equipment, and weapon details. The radiation timer matters to route planning: identify an exfil point before the storm intensifies rather than assuming there is time for one more detour.

Understand what the Threat indicator does—and does not—show

Each POI has a Threat level displayed beneath the compass when you enter. Combat disruption raises expected enemy danger and numbers; higher levels can bring reinforcements. The official guide describes “Low” as the least problematic state in a location that has enemies and “Extreme” as the highest. This is a responsive local indicator, not a complete measure of danger.

Rival human Operators are not included in the Threat display. A low reading can therefore coexist with PvP risk, including an ambush. Treat the indicator as information about the game’s enemy response, not a guarantee that an area or route is safe.

Decide whether to continue or break contact

  • Continue pushing when the objective or likely reward justifies the rising enemy response and the squad can handle it.
  • Disengage before reinforcements or accumulated pressure overwhelm the team if the objective no longer warrants the exposure.
  • Use cover and the environment; the guide recommends stealth eliminations with melee, throwing knives, or suppressed shots.
  • Move toward rural areas or break enemies’ visual and audible detection to help reduce danger, as the guide advises.
  • Keep rival Operators in mind as a separate threat even when the local indicator is low.

These are tactics recommended by Call of Duty’s guide, not independently tested guarantees.

Choose objectives with their risk in mind

DMZ Orders, story missions, Dynamic Ops, and Side Ops are different ways to spend a deployment. The guide presents Side Ops as lower-intensity opportunities to explore, earn DMZ XP, gather resources or intel, locate lost Supply Drops, repair trucks, or climb radio towers to reveal a Lieutenant’s general location. “Lower-intensity” is relative; it does not mean opposition or PvP risk disappears.

Battle Briefing Board for IBOLC, West Point, OPORD Brief Plexiglass Board, Army, Stealth Black (12x14), Made in the USA, Veteran Owned
  • MADE IN THE USA - Each board is designed and manufactured in the USA, unlike others.
  • STANDARD SIZE - The board is made from the standard 12x14 inch acrylic size specifications made by the Army.
  • LIGHTWEIGHT - Ounces add up to pounds in the field. Grunt Board is made to be durable yet lightweight compared to traditional briefing boards that need to be DIY'd with heavier plexiglass.
  • TRANSPARENT BACK - The additional plexiglass backing allows for additional charts and diagrams to be displayed on the back of the Grunt Board.
  • MULTIPLE PLEXIGLASS LAYERS - Grunt Board comes with 5 plexiglass panels that allow you to sketch out your graphical terrain analysis overlays (GTAO), enemy situation templates, course of actions, and actions on the objective.

A Hunt Operators operation can put a full squad of rival Operators in your path. That changes the risk calculation because human opposition is separate from the POI Threat indicator. Before engaging, consider the objective’s value, your current local response, the route back to an exfil, and the time remaining before radiation intensifies.

Travel by vehicle, but plan for fuel and damage

Hajin’s listed transport options include ground vehicles, an automated train, an automated tram, RHIB watercraft, helicopters, and the Monarch infil/exfil aircraft. Vehicles can shorten a journey or provide protection, but armor and fuel are finite. Gas Stations let players repair and refuel vehicles. The official guide explicitly contrasts this with Warzone, where its described vehicles do not require repair and refueling.

Before choosing a vehicle route, account for its condition and fuel as well as terrain, nearby POIs, and the objective. Faster travel is useful only if the vehicle can get you where you need to go and leave enough margin for extraction.

A practical deployment decision sequence

  1. At the FOB: review your Operator, stash, loadout, and DMZ Orders, then decide what objective the deployment is meant to serve.
  2. On the Tac-Map: locate the objective, POIs, threat areas, hazards, caches, and possible routes; ping or share grid references with the squad.
  3. At each POI: read the Threat beneath the compass and check the HUD for squad condition, hostile activity, and radiation timing.
  4. As pressure changes: decide whether the objective still merits the escalation. Continue deliberately, use the guide’s stealth and cover suggestions, or break contact.
  5. During travel: track vehicle armor and fuel, and use a Gas Station if repair or refueling is needed.
  6. Before time runs short: select an exfil route and leave enough time to reach it; carried rewards are not secured until extraction.
