The key difference: one camera versus two focal lengths
The Pocket 4P is not simply a Pocket 4 with a digital zoom mode. It has two physical cameras:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- A 20mm-equivalent f/2.0 wide camera with a 1-inch CMOS sensor.
- A 60mm-equivalent f/1.8 medium-tele camera with a 1/1.28-inch CMOS sensor.
The Pocket 4 has one 20mm-equivalent f/2.0 camera with a 1-inch CMOS sensor. In practical terms, the 4P can produce a naturally tighter composition from the same position. That is useful when you are filming an interview across a table, isolating a face in a street scene, recording a product demonstration or standing somewhere you cannot safely or physically move closer.

The two 4P cameras are alternatives, not a two-angle recording system. DJI Support describes the design as a “physical dual-lenses design (20mm wide-angle lens + 60 mm med-tele lens).” Its FAQ clarifies that only one lens operates during shooting and that the camera switches according to the zoom level. You therefore cannot record both views simultaneously for a later multicamera edit.
DJI Pocket 4P and Pocket 4 specifications compared
| Specification | DJI Osmo Pocket 4P | DJI Osmo Pocket 4 | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Camera arrangement | 20mm-equivalent wide plus 60mm-equivalent medium-tele | One 20mm-equivalent wide camera | The 4P offers an additional optical perspective; the Pocket 4 does not. |
| Wide-camera aperture and sensor | f/2.0, 1-inch CMOS | f/2.0, 1-inch CMOS | Core wide-camera hardware is listed as the same class. |
| Medium-tele aperture and sensor | f/1.8, 1/1.28-inch CMOS | Not applicable | The extra lens is brighter on paper but uses a smaller sensor than the 4P wide camera. |
| Maximum normal video | 4K at 60fps | 4K at 60fps | Neither has a higher listed normal-video ceiling. |
| Slow motion | 4K at 100, 120, 200 or 240fps on both lenses | 4K up to 240fps | The headline 4K/240fps maximum does not separate the models. |
| Listed video digital zoom | Up to 12× | Up to 4× | Digital zoom is not the same as the 4P’s 60mm optical camera. |
| Screen | 2-inch touchscreen | 2-inch touchscreen | Both use the same listed screen size. |
| Microphones | Three | Three | Neither specification gives the 4P an extra built-in microphone. |
| Built-in storage | 103GB | 107GB | The base model has 4GB more internal capacity. |
| microSD support | Up to 1TB | Up to 1TB | Both can be expanded with a compatible card. |
| Body weight | 230g | 190.5g | The 4P is 39.5g heavier, which matters on a small grip, mini tripod or gimbal mount. |
| DJI battery test result | 210 minutes | 240 minutes | These are controlled manufacturer figures, not a promise for every recording mode. |
How the 4P’s lens switching works
The 4P changes cameras according to the selected zoom level. The important distinction is between optical coverage and digital enlargement:
When the second camera helps
The 60mm-equivalent module gives you a tighter field of view from the same camera position. Because it is a separate physical camera, the framing change is more useful than simply enlarging pixels from the wide camera. It can keep a speaker larger in the frame while leaving the camera on a desk, or let a creator show a detail without walking toward a subject.
What it cannot do
- It cannot record the 20mm and 60mm views at the same time.
- It does not turn the 4P into a three-camera production system; the 20mm and 60mm modules are the available alternatives.
- The 60mm module has a 1/1.28-inch sensor, not the 1-inch sensor used by the wide camera.
- A higher digital-zoom number should not be presented as additional optical reach.
For a continuous shot, choose the intended lens and framing before recording. If you need a wide establishing view and a simultaneous close-up, use two cameras or record separate takes.
Video performance: what is actually different
4K recording
Both models list 4K video at up to 60 frames per second for normal recording. That means the base Pocket 4 is not a lower-resolution alternative. For standard vlogs, travel clips, tutorials and most social-video workflows, both provide the same stated top resolution and frame rate.
4K slow motion
The 4P lists 4K slow motion at 100, 120, 200 and 240fps on both lenses. The Pocket 4 lists 4K slow motion up to 240fps. If your buying decision is based only on the phrase “4K/240fps,” the models are tied on the published maximum. The 4P’s advantage is that the tighter lens remains available while shooting slow motion, not that it reaches a faster frame rate.
Image matching between lenses
The wide camera and medium-tele camera use different sensor sizes, so do not assume they will produce indistinguishable images in every lighting situation. The 4P wide module has the larger 1-inch sensor; the tele module uses a 1/1.28-inch sensor and an f/1.8 aperture. DJI’s listed specifications establish the hardware, but they do not provide an independent test showing how closely color, noise or dynamic range match between the two views.
Battery life and storage: the base model has small numerical advantages
DJI lists 240 minutes for the Pocket 4 and 210 minutes for the Pocket 4P. Both figures come from the same stated test setup: 25°C, 1080p at 24fps in a 16:9 format, Wi-Fi off and the screen off. They are useful for comparing the manufacturer’s own results, but they are not guaranteed recording times when you use 4K, high frame rates, wireless features, a bright screen or cold-weather conditions.

The Pocket 4 also has 107GB of built-in storage, compared with 103GB in the 4P. DJI estimates that 103GB can hold approximately 210 minutes of 4K/60fps video at its standard bitrate. That is a storage-capacity estimate, not a statement that the battery will run for 210 minutes at 4K/60fps.
Both cameras accept microSD cards up to 1TB. DJI lists U3, A2, V30 microSDXC options such as Lexar Silver Plus and Kingston Canvas Go! Plus. A card is optional because each camera has internal storage, but it becomes sensible for long trips, high-frame-rate capture or a workflow that requires moving files off the device without repeatedly clearing the internal memory.
Can the 4P run longer with a battery handle?
DJI’s 4P FAQ says a fully charged Battery Handle can add up to 130 minutes when recording 1080p/24fps, with testing at 25°C, Wi-Fi off and the screen off. That is an additional controlled-test figure, not a universal extension for 4K or slow motion.

Check the exact handle SKU before buying. The Pocket 4 manual shows that accessories vary by combo configuration and that accessories can also be purchased separately. Do not assume that a battery handle listed for one Pocket model or bundle is automatically compatible with the 4P.
Which model suits each type of creator?
Choose the Pocket 4P for interviews and talking-head work
The 60mm-equivalent view can make a seated speaker larger without putting the camera close to the subject. That helps when a desk, room layout or professional distance limits where you can stand. It also gives you a tighter composition for cutaways while keeping the camera position fixed.
Choose the Pocket 4P for portraits and products
A medium-tele perspective is generally more useful for isolating a face or showing a product detail than a wide view held close to the subject. The 4P lets you change to that perspective optically rather than relying solely on digital enlargement. The benefit is strongest when you regularly need both a broad scene and a tighter shot in the same project.
Choose the Pocket 4 for wide, mobile shooting
The Pocket 4’s 20mm-equivalent lens is suited to handheld travel footage, walking vlogs, room overviews and self-recording where you want context around the subject. Its 190.5g weight is 39.5g below the 4P’s listed 230g, and DJI gives it the longer controlled battery result. If you rarely need a close perspective, the lighter body and simpler single-camera design may be preferable.
Choose the Pocket 4 when you want the simplest setup
A single lens removes decisions about switching and keeps every clip on the same optical system. That can be useful for a beginner or for a production that will be edited quickly. The 4P is more flexible, but its second camera does not help if your projects always use one wide framing.

Prices: why $620 versus $450 is not a safe universal comparison
The headline figures need market, date and bundle labels. A DJI Canada-region store result showed USD $619 for a Pocket 4P Standard Combo and USD $699 for a 4P Vlog Combo. A DJI comparison result showed a Pocket 4 price from USD $477. Those entries do not establish a universal $620-versus-$450 pair, and they may not represent identical bundles or tax treatment.
A report dated July 31, 2026, listed UK prices of £529 for the 4P Standard Combo and £605 for the Vlog Combo. It described UK and European availability and said an official US launch had not been announced at the time of publication. That dated regional report should not be treated as a current price or stock guarantee in another country.
| Price evidence | What it represents | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| USD $619 | DJI Canada-region listing for 4P Standard Combo, accessed October 13, 2026 | Use only with the region and Standard Combo label. |
| USD $699 | DJI Canada-region listing for 4P Vlog Combo, accessed October 13, 2026 | Do not compare it with a base-only price unless accessory contents match. |
| USD $477 | Price surfaced in a DJI comparison result for Pocket 4 | It does not verify the $450 figure or prove a like-for-like bundle comparison. |
| £529 | UK 4P Standard Combo price in a July 31, 2026 report | Historical, region-specific evidence; recheck before purchase. |
| £605 | UK 4P Vlog Combo price in the same report | Includes a different configuration from the Standard Combo. |
Before buying, compare the same country, currency, tax treatment, date and combo contents. Only then can you calculate a meaningful premium. Calling the 4P “$170 more” without those controls can produce a misleading result.

DJI’s Pocket 4 manual states that combo configurations have different accessories and that accessories can be bought separately. Its table includes a clamp, a 1/4-inch-thread handle, a fill light, a mini tripod, a Pocket 3 wide-angle lens and a Pocket 4 battery handle across bundle configurations.
That table is not a guarantee that every item belongs in every 4P package. Check the exact regional SKU and its contents before paying more for a Vlog Combo. In particular, verify:
- Whether the listed battery handle is compatible with Pocket 4P.
- Whether a fill light, tripod, clamp or threaded handle is included or optional.
- Whether the package includes the accessories you actually need rather than items you will replace.
- Whether the seller is authorized in your region and supplies the correct warranty.
- Whether the return policy covers opened camera equipment.
Audio and protection options
Both cameras list three built-in microphones. DJI’s launch material says the 4P integrates with DJI Mic products, which may suit interviews and vlogs that need a dedicated wireless microphone. Confirm the exact transmitter, receiver and cable compatibility for the regional kit you intend to use; the camera comparison alone does not establish that every DJI Mic package is included.
DJI Support also points to DJI Care Refresh as an example of accidental-damage coverage. Availability, price, replacement terms and eligibility vary by market, so read the plan offered for your camera’s region instead of assuming coverage transfers internationally.
A practical buying checklist
- Identify your dominant framing. If most clips are wide, the Pocket 4 may be enough. If you regularly need a tighter shot from a fixed position, give the 4P’s 60mm camera priority.
- Decide whether simultaneous angles are required. The 4P switches between lenses and does not record both at once. If you need two angles in one take, plan for a second camera.
- Set a weight limit. The 4P is listed at 230g; the Pocket 4 is 190.5g. Include the grip, microphone and light in your real carrying weight.
- Choose your storage plan. The 4P has 103GB and the Pocket 4 107GB internally. Add a compatible microSD card up to 1TB if you shoot long sessions.
- Budget from a same-market listing. Match region, taxes, bundle and date. Ignore a headline price that does not identify those details.
- Verify accessories before checkout. Confirm the exact battery handle, audio equipment and combo contents for the SKU in your cart.
- Plan battery use realistically. Treat 210 and 240 minutes as DJI’s controlled 1080p/24fps tests, not as 4K field guarantees.
Bottom-line recommendation
The DJI Pocket 4P is the more capable framing tool because its second physical camera adds a genuine 60mm-equivalent perspective. It is the better fit for interviews, portraits, product details and any setup where you cannot move closer. Its compromises are a heavier body, 3GB less built-in storage and a shorter stated battery-test result.
The DJI Pocket 4 remains the sensible choice when a 20mm-equivalent view is all you need. It offers the same listed 4K/60fps normal video and 4K/240fps maximum slow motion, while weighing less and posting the longer controlled battery figure. Decide based on whether you will use the second focal length, then verify a current, same-market bundle price rather than relying on the unverified $620/$450 headline.
