Verdict: The DJI Osmo Pocket 4P is a pocket-sized gimbal camera whose defining upgrade is a genuine second camera, not a software crop. Its 20mm-equivalent wide camera handles self-shooting and general scenes, while a dedicated 60mm-equivalent med-tele module gives interviews, portraits and tighter details a more natural perspective. That flexibility is valuable, but the two cameras do not capture simultaneously, DJI’s advertised 17-stop range is limited to 1× zoom in 10-bit D-Log 2, and the headline 12× zoom is not 12× optical.
DJI’s specifications are identified separately from independent reviewer observations, and UK pricing and availability are labeled by date. It is intended for prospective buyers, current Pocket owners and mobile creators deciding whether the second lens justifies the premium.

The short answer
If you regularly move between a presenter at arm’s length and a tighter, more flattering viewpoint, the Pocket 4P is the most meaningful step forward in DJI’s pocket-gimbal line. The 60mm camera is an optical viewpoint produced by its own sensor and lens, so it avoids the softness and perspective change of simply cropping the wide camera. For a solo creator, that can mean keeping the camera in the same small rig while changing the visual language of a shot.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe trade-off is that this is a switching system. DJI says the cameras change according to the selected zoom level; they do not record the same take simultaneously and merge the feeds. You therefore need to choose the viewpoint before or during a shot, and your recording profile can limit which zoom positions are available. The 4P makes the most sense when lens flexibility matters more than having two angles captured at once.

What the Pocket 4P actually is
A pocket gimbal camera with two dedicated modules
The Pocket 4P combines a three-axis handheld gimbal with two camera modules in one body. The wide module is a 20mm-equivalent camera with a 1-inch CMOS sensor and an f/2.0 aperture. The med-tele module is a 60mm-equivalent camera with a smaller 1/1.28-inch CMOS sensor and a brighter f/1.8 aperture. These are manufacturer-listed specifications, not independent measurements. DJI describes the 60mm view as a dedicated optical camera rather than a digital crop of the wide module.
The focal-length difference is substantial. A 20mm-equivalent view keeps the camera useful for vlogging, rooms, travel scenes and handheld walk-and-talk pieces. A 60mm-equivalent view narrows the field of view and compresses perspective, which can make a face look less exaggerated than it does close to a wide lens. It is also useful for isolating a detail, a performer or a product without carrying a second camera.

How switching works
Zoom selection determines which module is active. DJI’s description does not present the system as computational multi-camera capture: both sensors are not recording continuously so the camera can blend them later. That distinction matters when planning edits. A change from the wide view to the med-tele view is a camera change, not a hidden second angle that can be recovered in post-production.
The dedicated 60mm viewpoint is effectively a 3× optical step from the 20mm camera. DJI also advertises zoom up to 12×, but the higher settings are not all optical. TechRadar’s reviewer described 12× quality as acceptable only “at a pinch” and advised staying at or below 6× when image quality is the priority. That is a reviewer judgment, not a DJI laboratory rating.

What the second lens changes in real shooting
Interviews and presenter-led work
The 60mm module is most useful when the camera can be positioned far enough from the subject to create a comfortable framing distance. A presenter can move naturally without the face-stretching effect that a very wide camera can produce up close. For a one-person production, the same handheld unit can establish a wide introduction and then move to a tighter talking-head composition.
Recommended Free Tools
There is a practical planning consequence: because only one module records at a time, you cannot rely on the 4P as a two-camera interview backup. If a continuous wide and tight angle are both essential, you still need a second recording device. The 4P instead reduces the need to carry or set up that second camera when a single selected angle is sufficient.
Vlogging and travel
The wide camera remains the natural choice for arm’s-length vlogging, interiors and groups. Its 20mm-equivalent field of view gives more room for the creator and surroundings, and the gimbal form keeps the package compact. The med-tele camera becomes useful for cutaways: a sign, a performer across a street, or a detail that would be too small in the wide frame.
A 60mm view also magnifies hand movement and framing errors more than a 20mm view. The gimbal can stabilize rotation, but it cannot remove every consequence of walking, subject movement or a poorly supported telephoto composition. Treat the second module as a deliberate shot choice rather than a default setting.
Products, demonstrations and people-centered stories
For demonstrations, the wide camera can show the operator and context while the med-tele camera can isolate a hand movement or object detail. For portraits and people-centered storytelling, the tighter perspective can separate the subject from a busy background more effectively than standing very close with a wide lens. The smaller med-tele sensor is not equivalent to the 1-inch wide sensor, so do not assume identical low-light or depth-of-field behavior between modules.
Image quality, profiles and zoom restrictions
The 17-stop claim needs a qualifier
DJI advertises up to 17 stops of dynamic range when recording in D-Log 2. The “up to” wording describes a maximum claim, not a guaranteed result in every scene, and no independent lab measurement confirms that number. More importantly for buyers, DJI states that 10-bit D-Log 2 supports only 1× zoom. In practical terms, the log workflow associated with the headline range figure is tied to the wide camera’s 1× position; it should not be presented as a universal property of every zoom setting or both modules.

If your workflow depends on log footage for heavy color grading, check the selected profile and zoom position before recording. A med-tele shot or a different zoom level may require a different recording mode, which can affect how you match it with 1× D-Log 2 footage.
Slow motion is not identical between cameras
DJI lists up to 4K at 240 frames per second on the wide camera and up to 4K at 200 frames per second on the med-tele camera. Those are maximum manufacturer specifications, not a promise that every resolution, codec, exposure setting or profile is available at those frame rates. The difference is relevant when a project mixes slow-motion material from both modules: plan the sequence around the lower med-tele maximum if the tighter camera is central to the edit.
What the zoom numbers mean
The 3× step is the meaningful optical change because it comes from the dedicated 60mm camera. The advertised 12× ceiling includes digital magnification. TechRadar’s reviewer recommends not going beyond 6× when quality is the priority, describing 12× as usable only in a pinch. Use higher values for a record shot when getting closer is impossible, not as a substitute for a long optical lens.

DJI lists the Pocket 4P at 230 g. That weight keeps it in the category of cameras that can be carried all day, mounted quickly and operated with one hand. The 2.0-inch display is specified at 556 × 314 resolution and 1,000 nits, a combination intended to remain usable in bright conditions while framing yourself or a moving subject.
The small body is an advantage only if the shooting plan respects its limits. A 60mm-equivalent view needs more working distance than a 20mm view. It also makes the screen composition more sensitive to subject movement. For run-and-gun work, start wide, lock the framing and switch to med-tele only when you can pause long enough to confirm the tighter composition.
Digital Camera World’s Adam Juniper identified a separate remote control as a drawback in his review of a loaned pre-release unit. That observation is independent reviewer feedback, not a claim that every package includes or excludes a particular remote. Check the exact regional bundle and accessory list before assuming remote operation is included.

Wireless audio
At its May 15, 2026 Cannes announcement, DJI said the Pocket 4P can integrate with products such as the DJI Mic series and stabilizer solutions for compact professional workflows. The announcement excerpt does not identify exact compatible microphone models. If dialogue is central to your work, verify the current compatibility list for your region before buying a transmitter or receiver.

Storage cards
DJI’s published information does not establish the supported microSD speed class, maximum capacity, internal-storage details or whether every regional package includes a card. Do not choose a card solely from a generic action-camera recommendation. Check DJI’s current requirements for the exact firmware and regional SKU, and confirm whether your box already contains storage before ordering accessories.
Regional box contents
The Singapore store’s box-content section lists the camera, a USB-C to USB-C PD cable, a fill light, a wrist strap and a handle with a 1/4-inch thread. Bundle contents can differ by market and package, so treat this as a Singapore listing detail rather than a worldwide inclusion list. The relevant regional page is DJI’s Singapore Pocket 4P listing.

DJI’s UK store positions the Pocket 4P, Pocket 4 and Pocket 3 as separate options. The following “from” prices were shown on that listing and are not guaranteed current prices:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →| Model | UK listing from-price at time accessed | Lens configuration established in the supplied specifications | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Osmo Pocket 4P | £529 | 20mm-equivalent wide plus dedicated 60mm-equivalent med-tele camera | Creators who need two optical viewpoints in one pocket gimbal. |
| Osmo Pocket 4 | £445 | Single-camera configuration in the cited comparison | Buyers who want the newer single-camera Pocket option and do not need a second focal length. |
| Osmo Pocket 3 | £262 | Single-camera configuration in the cited comparison | Budget-conscious buyers considering an earlier Pocket generation. |
The price gap between the 4P and Pocket 4 is £84 on that snapshot, while the Pocket 3 was substantially cheaper. The 4P’s value therefore depends on using the med-tele module; if you will record only at 1× wide, the cheaper single-camera model may leave more budget for audio, storage and support accessories. Current prices, bundles and stock should be checked on the regional DJI store before purchase.

Release timing and availability
DJI announced the Osmo Pocket 4P at Cannes on May 15, 2026 and said pricing and configurations would be announced later. DJI subsequently listed a UK starting price of £529. Digital Camera World reported that the global release date was July 30, 2026, except in the United States. The available information does not establish why the United States was excluded, so no legal, regulatory or commercial explanation should be inferred from that exception.
For a current buying decision, treat the announcement date, the later store listing and the reported release date as separate events. Confirm that the camera is shipping to your country, that the displayed currency is local, and that the package contains the accessories you need.
A practical buying and shooting checklist
- Choose the shot types first. List how often your work needs a wide self-shot and how often it needs a 60mm-equivalent close framing. The 4P earns its premium when both appear regularly.
- Decide whether simultaneous angles are required. If an interview must have a continuously recorded wide and tight view, the Pocket 4P alone cannot provide that because its cameras switch rather than recording together.
- Plan the recording profile. If 10-bit D-Log 2 and DJI’s advertised maximum dynamic range are priorities, remember the 1× zoom limitation before framing the scene.
- Reserve working distance for 60mm. Move farther from the subject, check the tighter composition on the 2.0-inch display and allow more time for reframing than you would with the wide camera.
- Set a quality ceiling for digital zoom. Use the optical 3× viewpoint for the important change in perspective. Treat 6× as a practical quality boundary suggested by TechRadar’s reviewer and higher values as emergency reach.
- Verify audio compatibility. Check DJI’s current Mic-series compatibility information for your region before purchasing a transmitter, receiver or adapter.
- Verify storage and bundle contents. Confirm the supported card specification and inspect the local SKU, since the Singapore box list is not proof of what ships elsewhere.
- Check the current regional price. The £529 UK figure and the reported July 30, 2026 launch date are time- and market-specific, not permanent global terms.
Who should buy the Pocket 4P?
Strong match
- Solo interviewers who want a wide establishing view or a tighter 60mm composition without carrying a second camera.
- Vloggers and travel creators who value a pocketable gimbal but also need tighter cutaways.
- People-centered storytellers who can plan lens changes and do not require two angles recorded simultaneously.
- Mobile crews willing to verify audio, storage and regional bundle details before purchasing.
Consider a different option
- Editors who need a continuously recorded wide and tight angle from one take.
- Creators whose work stays at 1× wide and therefore will not use the second module.
- Buyers expecting 12× zoom to behave like a long optical lens.
- Production teams that require independently verified dynamic-range measurements rather than a manufacturer maximum claim.
- Anyone buying on the assumption that a particular remote, microphone, memory card or fill light is included in every country’s package.
What independent reviews establish
Digital Camera World’s August 5, 2026 review, written by Adam Juniper after receiving a loaned pre-release unit from DJI, identifies the second camera as the central upgrade and lists a separate remote control as a drawback. It also reports the £529 UK starting price and the July 30 global release date except for the United States. Those are that publication’s observations and market reporting.
TechRadar’s July 30, 2026 review reports lossless zoom options and up to 12× digital zoom, while advising that quality-focused users stay at or below 6×. No independent benchmark of DJI’s 17-stop dynamic-range claim was established in the available information. Likewise, no useful named market statistic directly describing this product or category was available, so this review does not substitute a generic camera-market number.
Final verdict
The Pocket 4P’s reason to exist is straightforward: it puts a real 20mm-to-60mm optical choice inside a 230 g gimbal camera. That makes it more adaptable for interviews, vlogs and mobile people-centered production than a single-lens Pocket, provided you can work with one active camera at a time. The 1× restriction on 10-bit D-Log 2, the non-optical nature of most of the 12× range, and the uncertainty around regional accessories prevent it from being a universal replacement for a multi-camera kit.
For creators who will repeatedly use both viewpoints, the Pocket 4P is a credible premium over the single-camera alternatives listed by DJI. For wide-only shooters, simultaneous-angle productions or buyers focused on the lowest entry price, its defining feature may not repay the extra cost. Check the current regional listing for the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P before committing.
