The gimbal physically stabilizes the camera rather than relying only on electronic correction. DJI describes the result as letting users “shoot smooth, stable hand-held footage.” The rotating screen can be set for vertical or horizontal work, while ActiveTrack is intended to keep a selected subject in frame as it moves.

Is a pocket gimbal camera better than a regular camera?
Choose the Pocket 3 when compactness, stabilization and fast setup matter more than interchangeable lenses. The integrated gimbal is especially useful for moving video: you can start recording quickly without attaching a separate stabilizer, and the camera remains small enough for everyday carry.
A regular interchangeable-lens camera remains the more flexible choice when you need different focal lengths, specialized lenses, a larger accessory ecosystem or photography-first controls. DJI’s buying guide cautions that the Pocket line’s gimbal advantages are less noticeable for people who mainly take still photographs. The Pocket 3 can capture photos, but its design priority is video.
