The DJI Osmo 360 II is an evolutionary update, not a ground-up redesign. Its headline video mode is 8K/60fps panoramic recording, but the most meaningful change for long-term ownership may be that a damaged outer lens can be replaced with DJI’s dedicated kit. That is a specific repair option—not evidence that the camera’s other components are user-serviceable. Whether it is worth buying depends on how much you value the higher frame rates, low-light changes and repairable lenses, and whether its workflow and accessories fit your setup.
What is new in the Osmo 360 II?
DJI announced the Osmo 360 II globally on September 3, 2026. It retains the original camera’s broad 360-degree concept while adding higher frame-rate options, low-light features and a replaceable-lens design. DJI also lists a square HDR sensor system, AI SuperNight 2.0, Spotlight Follow subject tracking, a four-microphone array, NFC connection to DJI Mimo and a 1/4-inch thread. The camera weighs 183 g, according to DJI. These are manufacturer specifications and feature claims, not independent measurements. DJI’s launch announcement has the company’s full feature description.

How much better is it than the original?
The clearest numerical gains are in frame rate. TechRadar reports that the new model raises slow motion from 4K/100fps to 4K/240fps, adds a stop of dynamic range and improves SuperNight performance. The same review describes the overall image-quality improvement as modest rather than transformative. It also notes that SuperNight 2.0 cannot be combined with D-Log M, a relevant limitation for buyers who prioritize a log-color workflow. TechRadar’s review discusses those findings.

Digital Camera World lists 16K timelapse and 8K/60fps among the additions, and describes post-production frame interpolation in DJI Studio. These features serve different needs: high frame rates help when slowing action, while timelapse, reframing and subject tracking suit other kinds of footage. A larger specification does not by itself establish better image quality in every situation. T3’s review and Digital Camera World’s review offer additional perspectives.

Can you replace the Osmo 360 II lens?
Yes. DJI documents an Osmo 360 II Lens Replacement Kit for replacing a damaged outer lens. That gives owners a direct option for this specific type of damage instead of necessarily replacing or sending away the entire camera. DJI says the lenses use an ultra-hard optical film intended to improve scratch and wear resistance, but it does not claim that they cannot be damaged. The support guide names the kit and explains the replacement procedure.
This is a narrow but practical repairability improvement. The available documentation establishes a lens replacement route; it does not establish that the battery, electronics or enclosure can be repaired by the owner. DPReview reported a $30 kit price at launch, while TechRadar reported £35 / AU$50 in its launch-period coverage. These are source- and market-specific figures, not a universal current price; check local availability, current cost and kit contents before buying. DPReview’s launch coverage and TechRadar’s review report those regional prices.

DJI says Care Refresh is available for the model. Its announcement describes up to two replacements under a one-year plan or up to four under a two-year plan, subject to the plan’s terms. Eligibility, fees, exclusions and availability depend on country and plan; confirm them directly with DJI. For malfunctions not caused by the user during the warranty period, DJI’s support guide directs owners to warranty repair. DJI’s announcement and support guide describe these routes.

DJI claims 100 minutes of continuous 8K/30fps recording in its stated test: 25°C, with Wi-Fi, gesture control, voice control and editing assistant turned off, and the screen off. The company warns that actual recording time varies with use and conditions; it also notes that temperature regulations in the EU and UK can affect battery life. Its support guide gives an “up to” figure of 120 minutes with Endurance Mode. These are different claims for different modes, not interchangeable guarantees. The DJI Store gives the test conditions, while DJI’s support guide describes Endurance Mode.

The camera has 105 GB of built-in storage, with microSD support listed by DJI. DJI also says its Battery Extension Rod can extend runtime by 180 minutes, but that figure should not be treated as a guaranteed combined runtime with the camera’s battery: the published claim does not establish a universal total for every recording mode and condition. DJI’s launch announcement lists the storage and extension-rod claims.
Is it waterproof without a case?
DJI’s support guide rates the camera itself as waterproof to 10 m. However, the company warns that underwater shooting without a case can affect 360-degree stitching quality. For underwater footage, DJI recommends its separately sold Osmo 360 Invisible Waterproof Case, which it rates to 50 m. The depth rating and stitching caveat answer different questions: surviving underwater use does not guarantee a clean stitched 360-degree image. DJI’s support guide covers both ratings and the caveat.

Will it fit your audio and editing workflow?
DJI names direct OsmoAudio microphone compatibility with Mic 3, Mic 2, Mic Mini 2S, Mic Mini 2 and Mic Mini. The camera has a four-microphone array, NFC pairing with DJI Mimo and a standard 1/4-inch thread, alongside DJI’s dual-direction quick-release system. Check the exact mount or third-party accessory you plan to use rather than assuming that a physically similar connector is compatible. DJI’s announcement lists microphone and mount details.
DJI describes panoramic video as OSV and flat video as HEVC MP4. Its listed transfer options include DJI Mimo, USB-C and a card reader. DJI says HDR capture is the default rather than a separate shooting mode, with further HDR editing features in Mimo or DJI Studio. The launch announcement also says DJI Studio exports can be imported into DaVinci Resolve using a plugin. Software support can change, so check DJI’s current documentation for the operating systems, app versions and plugin compatibility you need before committing to an editing workflow. DJI Store and DJI’s announcement describe the formats and workflow.

Should you buy the DJI Osmo 360 II?
It makes sense if
- You want 8K/60fps panoramic recording or 4K/240fps slow motion and will use those modes.
- You value a documented way to replace an outer lens rather than treating lens damage as a reason to replace the whole camera.
- You plan to use DJI’s tracking, low-light features, microphone compatibility or app workflow.
Consider another option if
- Your main reason to upgrade is a dramatic image-quality leap: TechRadar’s review characterizes the overall improvement as modest.
- You need repair options for components beyond the outer lens; the documented replacement process does not establish broader owner repairability.
- Your underwater use depends on clean stitched 360 footage and you do not want to use the separately sold waterproof case.
- Your decision depends on a particular bundle, local price or accessory: verify current stock, combo contents and compatibility in your market.
