Disney+ remains a strong choice for households that specifically want Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and eligible Hulu programming. The main buying decisions are which U.S. tier fits your tolerance for advertising and need for downloads, whether your device is supported, and whether a bundle’s extra services justify its recurring cost. Disney’s U.S. pricing page dated September 23, 2026 shows conflicting standalone prices, so confirm the amount in checkout before subscribing.
What is Disney+?
Disney describes Disney+ as “a streaming service that brings together stories from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and Hulu.” Hulu availability depends on eligibility and market. Disney+ is therefore most naturally suited to fans of those brands and families seeking their programming, rather than as a neutral measure of every streaming service’s catalog.

Disney+ U.S. plans and prices
Disney’s help page dated September 23, 2026 contains an important pricing discrepancy: a later standalone table lists the ad-supported service at $12.49 per month and Premium at $21.49 per month or $214.99 per year, while an earlier section on the same page still shows $11.99 and $18.99 figures. Treat the later table as a dated listing, not a guarantee; check the live Disney+ checkout page for the price and plan labels offered to you.

| Plan | Price listed by Disney (U.S., page dated Sept. 23, 2026) | Advertising | Picture and sound | Downloads |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Disney+ with ads | $12.49/month in the later standalone table; the same page also shows an older $11.99 figure | Ads included; Disney also notes that advertising can appear in select live and linear programming on plans described as ad-free | Up to 4K UHD and HDR; up to 5.1 audio, subject to device, internet speed, and program | Not listed as eligible |
| Disney+ Premium | $21.49/month or $214.99/year in the later standalone table; the same page also shows an older $18.99 figure | No ads for movies and series, but select live and linear programming may still contain ads | Up to 4K UHD and HDR; up to Dolby Atmos, subject to device, internet speed, and program | Eligible downloads on up to 10 devices |
“Up to” describes the service ceiling, not a promise that every title or device will play at that quality. Your television, streaming hardware, connection speed, and the particular program all affect the result.
Which plan makes sense?
- Choose the ad-supported tier if keeping the monthly bill lower matters more than offline viewing and enhanced audio.
- Choose Premium if you watch on mobile while traveling, use Dolby Atmos equipment, or want the published download entitlement. It is also the tier to examine when avoiding ads in movies and series is important.
- Verify the price immediately before payment. Disney’s own page displays two sets of figures, and prices or plan names can change.
Downloads and offline viewing
Disney says Premium and certain Premium bundles qualify for Disney+ downloads. Downloads work on supported mobile devices, not on TV-connected devices, computers, or Windows 10 and Windows 11 tablets.

- When Cinderella's cruel stepmother prevents her from attending the Royal Ball, she gets some unexpected help from the lovable mice Gus and Jaq, and from her Fairy Godmother.
That limitation matters: Premium can prepare a phone or compatible tablet for a flight, but it cannot turn a television or laptop into an offline Disney+ library. Check the current app and device requirements before relying on downloads for a trip.
Supported devices and setup
Disney’s high-level platform list includes Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Samsung, Vizio, Hisense and LG smart TVs, computers, mobile devices, and PlayStation and Xbox consoles. Exact compatibility can vary by model, operating-system version, and region.

- A cute, classy "Lady" cocker spaniel escapes from her confining owner and falls for an alley dog, known as the "Tramp", who rescues her from some mean dogs out on the streets.
- Identify the exact television, streaming stick, phone, tablet, or console model you plan to use.
- Check that model against Disney’s detailed compatibility list before subscribing.
- Confirm that your operating system and Disney+ app are supported and that your connection can handle the desired quality.
- If your television lacks a supported app, consider a compatible streaming device such as Fire TV. Hardware is optional, not a Disney+ requirement for televisions that already support the service.
Bundles: when the extra services are worth it
Disney offers bundles that can combine Disney+ with Hulu, ESPN, or HBO Max. Evaluate the bundle against the services your household would actually purchase separately, using the recurring price after any introductory offer.
- Included services and apps: Some Hulu titles can appear inside Disney+, while additional Hulu content remains in the Hulu app. Sports and other services may likewise require their own apps.
- Advertising: Compare the ad status of each included service, not just the Disney+ label.
- Eligibility and changes: Bundle prices, add-ons, and availability depend on U.S. eligibility terms and can change.
- Usage: A bundle is harder to justify if your household will rarely use Hulu, ESPN, or HBO Max.
Disney+ interface features and content organization
Disney’s U.S. bundle page describes Playlists as curated collections organized by theme, franchise, character, genre, or mood. Disney says Playlists are replacing Streams in the United States, while ABC News remains a livestream experience. Feature names and rollout can change, so treat this as a description of Disney’s U.S. service position in 2026 rather than a permanent interface promise.

- In this animated comedy adventure, animal lover Mabel seizes an opportunity to use a new technology to "hop" her consciousness into a lifelike robotic beaver and communicate directly with animals. As she makes amazing discoveries, Mabel befriends a charismatic beaver and must rally the entire animal kingdom to face a major, imminent, human threat.
What Disney+ does not establish by itself
Official plan and compatibility pages can document prices, entitlements, and supported platforms, but they do not independently prove that Disney+ has the broadest catalog, the best recommendations, the most reliable playback, or superior parental controls. Those questions require current, independent testing and can vary by household, device, and market.
