Star Paths and limited-time Valley events are separate systems. A Star Path is a themed reward track: you complete Star Path Duties, earn Tokens, and spend those Tokens on rewards. A limited-time event is a separately scheduled activity with its own objectives, collectibles or quests, and reward claims. Both may appear in the same game update, but they do not share one task list, one currency, or one progression track.
Because dates, Premium rules and edition features can change, open the current in-game Event menu and read the update notes for the live requirements. The distinctions below reflect Gameloft’s published formats through October 2026.

Star Path vs. limited-time event at a glance
| Question | Star Path | Limited-time Valley event |
|---|---|---|
| What is it? | A themed reward track that you advance with Star Path Duties and Tokens. | A separate, dated activity announced with its own objectives and rewards. |
| How do you progress? | Complete Duties shown in the Star Path interface, then spend earned Tokens on the track. | Complete that event’s quests, collection tasks, puzzles, daily objectives or other instructions. |
| What do you earn? | Items placed on the Star Path track, with possible Bonus Rewards and, in the 2026 system, selected Vault rewards. | Rewards defined by that particular event; the event does not use the Star Path reward track. |
| When is it available? | During the active Star Path period shown in game. A five-day extension and a 48-hour post-Path grace period were part of the 2025 refreshed format, not a permanent promise for every future Path. | During the event window announced for that activity. Its dates are independent of the Star Path dates. |
| Does Premium matter? | In the 2025 format, Premium affected access to released Routine Duty sets and Bonus Rewards. Rules can differ by edition and season. | Access rules and any purchase requirement are set by the event announcement; do not assume a Star Path Premium rule applies. |
| Can missed content return? | Some former Star Path rewards can rotate into the Star Path Vault, but not all are available at once. | No single return system is shared by all events; check the specific event or a later official announcement. |
The word “event” is often used casually for any seasonal activity, including a Star Path season. In Gameloft’s update materials, however, a Star Path is identified separately from other Valley events.

It is a duty-and-token reward track
When a Star Path is active, its interface lists themed Duties. Each completed Duty awards Tokens. You then use Tokens to unlock items on the track, selecting rewards in the order and quantity allowed by that season’s interface. The track is therefore a progression system, not merely a quest list: the Duty is the task, the Token is the currency, and the reward page is where the currency is spent.

Gameloft’s beginner guidance describes Star Path rewards as limited-time exclusives and tells players to finish Star Path Duties before the Path ends. A Duty can ask for ordinary Valley actions, but progress counts only when the task is displayed as a Star Path Duty; doing a similar action elsewhere does not automatically create Star Path progress.
Regular Duties and Routine Duties in the 2025 refreshed format
Gameloft’s August 18, 2025 deep dive described a refreshed format with two kinds of work:
- Regular Star Path Duties: the initial Duty selection that drives the standard reward track.
- Routine Duties: weekly sets intended to provide additional Token opportunities and help players reach Bonus Rewards.
In that published format, the first-day Duty selection was designed to provide enough Tokens for all regular-track rewards. Routine Duties were added for further earning rather than being required to obtain the regular track. Treat that statement as a description of the 2025 format, not a guarantee that every later Star Path will use the same number of Duties or the same Token totals.

For the format documented in August 2025, a new Routine Duty set unlocked each Wednesday at 13:00 UTC. Duties did not disappear after unlocking. Non-Premium players completed released Routine Duty sets in order, while Premium players could work across all released sets in any order. A later season may change the weekday, time, order rules or the role of Premium, so the live Star Path screen is the authority for your season.
Premium changes access; it does not redefine the system
Premium can open additional rewards or progression options, but it does not turn a Star Path into a Valley event. In the 2025 format, Premium affected access to released Routine Duty sets and Bonus Rewards. The exact entitlement is displayed in the current Path, and the game edition you use can have a different arrangement. You can understand the distinction without buying Premium: identify the Duty list, the Token balance and the reward track first, then check which rows or Duty sets are marked Premium.
Active days and the grace period
The 2025 refresh extended the active Duty period by five days. Gameloft also specified a 48-hour grace period after the Path ended during which players could trade or purchase additional Tokens. Those figures belong to the published 2025 format. They should not be treated as a universal deadline extension: a current Path may show different dates or no grace period. If the interface displays a countdown, use that countdown rather than an old season’s calendar.
What a limited-time Valley event does
Each event brings its own objective loop
A limited-time Valley event is announced with a date window and a separate set of goals. Depending on the event, you might collect a temporary item, share a themed recipe, complete daily quests, solve weekly puzzles or perform another activity defined by the event menu. The event’s own instructions determine what counts; Star Path Duties and Tokens are not a substitute.

Examples of the separate format
- Summer Sizzle: players collected marshmallows, shared s’mores and completed daily quests.
- Parks Floating Festival: weekly puzzles took place on a themed floating island.
- Memory Mania: used its own return window and event tasks.
- Dreamlight Parks Fest and Picture Pursuit: were listed as separately scheduled events in update notes that also named a Star Path.
- Springtime Floating Festival and Treasure Hunt: were separately dated alongside the Elements of Nature Star Path in the Whispers of the Wind update.
These are examples of how the system is structured, not a current calendar. Their original windows have passed unless a later announcement says otherwise.
Events can overlap a Star Path
An update may launch a Star Path and one or more limited-time events together. For example, the update naming the Godly Glamor Star Path also listed Dreamlight Parks Fest and Picture Pursuit as separate activities. The Whispers of the Wind notes similarly paired the Elements of Nature Star Path with the Springtime Floating Festival and Treasure Hunt. Overlap means you can pursue both systems during the same weeks; it does not merge their objectives, currencies or reward pages.
How to identify which system you are using
- Open the in-game Event menu. Look for a panel explicitly labeled Star Path, then open the panel showing Duties, Tokens and a reward track. That is the Star Path interface.
- Read the objective wording. A task that awards Tokens and appears in the Star Path Duty list belongs to the Path. A quest, collectible request, puzzle or daily challenge under a named festival or event belongs to that event.
- Check the reward destination. If your progress unlocks rows on a themed track, you are advancing the Star Path. If a separate event page records milestones or claims, use that page’s instructions.
- Record each deadline separately. Write down the Star Path end time and the event end time shown in game. One countdown does not extend the other.
- Check edition-specific notes. Premium labels, Routine Duties and Apple Arcade rules can change what appears in the menu. Use the announcement for your platform and the current screen rather than a screenshot from another season.
The Star Path Vault: a way to recover selected older rewards
Gameloft introduced the Star Path Vault in 2026 as a permanent feature for earning selected rewards from previous Star Paths, including refreshed versions. It is related to Star Path rewards, not a replacement for limited-time Valley events.
How Vault progression works
The 2026 Q&A describes Vault rewards as rotating with each new Star Path and progressing linearly. You need three Routine Duties for each Vault reward. Some Vault rewards are Premium-locked; free rewards can be claimed without Premium. Because the selection rotates, the Vault does not make every historical item permanently selectable.
What happens if you already own an item
If you already own a Vault item, Gameloft’s description says the game provides a Red Chest instead. That duplicate handling lets you continue through the reward line, but it does not imply that every past reward or every event item is included. The Vault concerns selected former Star Path rewards; an item originally earned from a separate festival may require a different return announcement.
Apple Arcade is a distinct edition case
Gameloft’s September 23, 2026 Season of Scares update announced Apple Arcade Star Paths beginning later in October. The announced Apple Arcade format differs from the usual one:
- There is no Premium track or Premium reward tier.
- Moonstones and purchasable Tokens are not part of the format.
- Weekly Routine Duties are replaced with Daily Duties.
- Daily Duties unlock Milestone Rewards rather than Vault rewards.
This rollout was newly announced at the October 2026 research date, so Apple Arcade players should confirm what is live in their own build. Older August 2025 patch notes said Apple Arcade did not have seasonal Star Paths; that statement is historical and is superseded by the later announcement for the new rollout. Do not use the old limitation to judge a current Apple Arcade menu.

Planning your time without confusing the two systems
Start with the shorter deadline
Compare the two countdowns in the Event menu. If the limited-time event ends first, complete its daily quests, collections or puzzles before spending a long session on Star Path Bonus progress. If the Star Path ends first, prioritize uncompleted Duties and spend Tokens on the rewards you actually want before its displayed cutoff.
Recommended Free Tools
Keep currencies and checklists separate
Maintain two simple lists: Star Path Duties with their Token payouts, and event objectives with their own completion conditions. Do not assume that a festival collectible will satisfy a Star Path Duty merely because both launched in the same update. Claiming an event reward also does not spend Star Path Tokens.
Use Routine Duties for optional goals
In the 2025 format, Regular Duties were designed to cover the regular track, while Routine Duties supported additional Tokens and Bonus Rewards. If your current season follows that model, finish regular-track requirements first, then decide whether the time required for Routine sets justifies the Bonus or Vault reward. The current Path may use different thresholds, so verify the displayed reward cost before committing.
Plan around unlock days, not assumed weekly resets
The Wednesday 13:00 UTC Routine Duty unlock was specific to the August 2025 format. If a current Path shows a different schedule, follow it. Duties that remain available after unlocking can be saved for a later play session, but an end-of-Path cutoff still applies.
Common mistakes and how to fix them
“I completed the quest, but the Star Path did not move.”
Open the Star Path Duty list and verify the exact requirement. The action may belong to a festival event, or the Duty may require a particular character, biome, item type or number of repetitions. Only the condition written on the active Duty awards its Token progress.
“The event and Star Path have different end dates.”
That is normal. They are independently scheduled systems. Save a screenshot or note of both countdowns, then finish the earlier deadline first. Never assume a Star Path grace period applies to a festival event.
“I cannot find an old Star Path reward.”
Check the Star Path Vault’s current rotation. The Vault contains selected previous Star Path rewards, rotates with each new Path and requires three Routine Duties per Vault reward in the 2026 description. If the item is not in the current rotation, the Vault does not establish that it is available now. Wait for an official return announcement rather than treating an old screenshot as a current listing.

“A guide says Apple Arcade has no Star Paths.”
Check the date of that guide. The older 2025 limitation predates the September 2026 announcement of an Apple Arcade Star Path format. Once the rollout is live, expect Daily Duties and Milestone Rewards instead of the standard weekly Routine Duty and Vault arrangement.
“I bought or unlocked Premium, but an event reward is still unavailable.”
Premium rules apply to the Star Path format that labels a reward or Duty as Premium. They do not automatically unlock rewards in a separate limited-time event. Read that event’s own eligibility notice and confirm that your account, platform edition and event window are valid.
Which explanation should you give another player?
Use this short test: Star Path equals Duties plus Tokens plus a themed reward track. Limited-time event equals a separately dated activity with its own tasks and rewards. If both appear in one update, treat them as two checklists with two deadlines. The current Event menu tells you which checklist is active, while the latest platform-specific update notes resolve changes to Premium, Routine Duties, Vault access and Apple Arcade behavior.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I complete a limited-time event by doing Star Path Duties?
No. Star Path Duties award Star Path Tokens and advance the Star Path track. A limited-time event has its own quests, collectibles, puzzles or other objectives, so follow that event’s instructions separately.
Can I still get an old Star Path reward?
Some selected former Star Path rewards can appear in the Star Path Vault. The 2026 description says Vault rewards rotate with each new Star Path, progress linearly and require three Routine Duties per reward; availability is not permanent or universal.
Do Star Paths and Valley events always run at the same time?
No. They can overlap in one update, but each system has its own announced window. Check both countdowns in the Event menu.
Are Apple Arcade Star Paths identical to the standard version?
No. Gameloft’s September 2026 announcement describes an Apple Arcade format without Premium tracks, Moonstones or purchasable Tokens, using Daily Duties and Milestone Rewards instead of the usual weekly Routine Duties and Vault rewards. Confirm the rules in your live build during the rollout.
