Discord now offers a native ARM64 build for Windows PCs through its official download page. Select Windows → ARM64 at discord.com/download to install it. This is the existing Discord desktop client compiled for ARM64—not a new service, mobile app, or paid tier—and it is intended for Windows-on-Arm computers.
The availability appears to have been a quiet stable-channel rollout rather than a major Discord newsroom announcement. Windows Central reported the public availability on May 26, 2026, without citing a separate formal launch post from Discord (Windows Central).
What Discord launched
Discord’s Windows download page now lists two desktop architectures: x64 and ARM64 (official download page). ARM64 is the native 64-bit format for ARM Windows PCs, including Snapdragon systems. x64 is the traditional Intel/AMD-compatible Windows format.
This does not create a separate Discord account system or feature set. Servers, direct messages, communities, voice channels, video calls and subscriptions remain part of the normal Discord service. It also is not merely browser support: it is a native Windows desktop binary rather than the x64 desktop app translated by Windows compatibility technology.

Why native ARM matters
On an ARM PC, an x64 application can often run through Windows emulation. A native ARM64 application avoids that instruction-translation layer. Microsoft says native ARM applications provide the best performance on Windows-on-Arm systems, while many applications built for other Windows architectures run through emulation (Microsoft’s Windows Arm FAQ).
For Discord, that means the ARM build should remove one source of overhead and may improve responsiveness or background efficiency, particularly on thin or battery-focused laptops. No supplied source provides Discord-specific measurements for launch time, CPU use, memory, battery life, voice latency or streaming quality, so treat those as potential benefits rather than guaranteed results. Network conditions, drivers, peripherals, server load and the rest of the workload still determine call and stream quality.
Which download should you choose?

Snapdragon X is the clearest target in current reporting, but Discord labels the package ARM64 rather than limiting it to a named Qualcomm chip. Do not assume every ARM Windows device has the same level of testing.
How to install the ARM64 client
- Open Discord’s official download page.
- In the Windows section, choose ARM64, not x64.
- Run the downloaded installer and allow Windows to complete setup.
- Sign in with your existing Discord account.
Discord’s published desktop requirement is Windows 10 or newer (Discord system requirements). Discord does not publish a detailed ARM device matrix, so the operating-system minimum should not be read as a guarantee that every ARM configuration is equally tested. Windows 11 is the safer expectation for current Snapdragon X hardware.

Should an existing ARM user reinstall?
If you already run the x64 desktop app
You can generally keep using it through Windows compatibility support if it works acceptably. Reinstalling is worthwhile when you want to minimize emulation or are seeing avoidable resource use, but there is no emergency requirement to switch. The available information does not establish that the installer always converts an existing x64 installation automatically, so select ARM64 explicitly rather than assuming an in-place architecture migration.

If Discord came from an unofficial mirror
Replace it with the installer reached from Discord’s official page. Avoid third-party installer sites and undocumented architecture-specific links.
If you use Discord in a browser
The web client remains a sensible fallback for messaging or occasional voice use, and for managed computers where desktop installation is prohibited. Discord’s download page also links to its broader desktop, mobile and console access options.
Stable, PTB or Canary?
Choose the ARM64 option on the main download page for the ordinary stable channel. Discord documents separate Public Test Build (PTB) and Canary clients for experimentation; those channels can contain bugs and are not the same as the standard installer (Discord testing clients).
There is no verified evidence here that the ARM64 package is a beta, PTB or Canary build. The accurate description is an official, publicly downloadable ARM64 client in the normal consumer download flow.

The native package is intended to provide the regular desktop Discord experience, including text, voice, video and screen sharing. However, a native CPU binary does not guarantee that every supporting component is ARM-native or identically compatible.

Audio, cameras and capture devices
Microphone or camera failures can originate in Windows defaults, manufacturer drivers, USB firmware, virtual audio cables, routing tools or exclusive-mode settings. Check those components before blaming the architecture. Discord’s troubleshooting guidance also points users toward current app and operating-system drivers and controls such as hardware acceleration and stream-quality settings (Discord system requirements and troubleshooting guidance).
Overlays and game detection
Overlay behavior depends on the game, graphics API, anti-cheat system and drivers as well as Discord. Microsoft warns that some Windows-on-Arm games and applications fail when they require unsupported anti-cheat drivers or other components (Microsoft’s Windows Arm FAQ). Do not assume the overlay works with every ARM-compatible game.

Native execution removes translation overhead, but Discord can still use substantial resources with large servers, animated media, video calls, screen sharing, multiple monitors, streaming or third-party overlays. The ARM build is not a promise of unlimited performance.
Does this make Windows-on-Arm a better Discord machine?
Yes, in a limited but useful way: it closes a conspicuous native-application gap for ARM Windows owners. It is not, by itself, a reason to buy a Snapdragon laptop. Buyers should separately verify support for their games, anti-cheat software, audio interfaces, capture cards, VPNs, printers, specialist business applications, hypervisors and other peripherals. Microsoft’s compatibility guidance makes clear that a native Discord client does not make those neighboring applications native or universally compatible.
Do you need Discord Nitro?
No. Installing the ARM64 client does not require Nitro, and Nitro does not add ARM compatibility. Nitro is an optional subscription for features such as larger uploads, HD streaming, custom emoji and stickers, server boosts and other account benefits. Discord’s listed US price is $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year, with regional and payment-method variation noted by Discord (Discord Nitro; Nitro and Nitro Basic; localized pricing).
Bottom line
Discord has quietly made a native ARM64 Windows desktop client available. ARM PC owners should select Windows → ARM64 from Discord’s official download page; Intel and AMD users should stay on x64. The native build should avoid emulation overhead, but there are no verified Discord-specific performance benchmarks, and drivers, overlays, games and third-party utilities can still determine whether the complete setup works well.
