Discord has documented and fixed specific iOS profile-related bugs, including a crash triggered by tapping a profile bio link, but that does not mean every profile crash has the same cause. Start with the steps below before reinstalling the app.
Identify what triggers the crash
Try to reproduce the problem without repeatedly tapping the element that causes Discord to close. Note where you opened the profile and what happened immediately before the crash.
- Opening the profile card: Does Discord close as soon as you tap the person’s avatar or name, or does the profile appear first?
- Tapping a bio link: Does the profile open normally, then crash only when you tap a URL in About Me? Discord’s May 4, 2026 patch notes identify a fix for an iOS crash caused by tapping a link in a user’s or app’s profile bio. The notes also say fixes can take time to roll out to individual platforms. Read Discord’s May 4, 2026 patch notes.
- Using an app or bot profile: Check whether the trigger is a specific control such as Open App or View All Commands. Discord documented iOS app-profile issues involving those actions in its June 4, 2026 notes. Read Discord’s June 4, 2026 patch notes.
- Opening the same profile from different places: Test a server member list, a DM, and search results if available. Note whether the failure is tied to one entry point.
- Checking whether it is isolated: Try another user’s profile, and, if practical, open the affected profile on Discord desktop or the web client. If only one profile triggers the crash, that suggests a profile-specific component may be involved; it does not show that the profile is malicious.
A crash means Discord closes. A freeze, blank profile, failure to load, or button that does nothing is a different symptom; record which one you see.
Check Discord’s status, then try low-risk fixes
Check Discord Status for a current service incident before changing device settings. An incident may help explain profiles that fail to load, but the status page cannot confirm that it caused your particular app crash.

- Force-close and reopen Discord. On an iPhone or iPad with Face ID, swipe up from the bottom edge and pause to open the app switcher, then swipe Discord’s preview up. The gesture can differ by device. Apple recommends closing and reopening an app that unexpectedly quits. Apple’s app troubleshooting steps.
- Restart the iPhone or iPad. Reopen Discord and test the same action once. Discord also includes restarting the device in its mobile-crash guidance. Discord mobile crashing and installation guidance.
- Update Discord. Open the App Store, tap your account/profile icon, scroll to available updates, and tap Update next to Discord if it appears. You can also check the official Discord App Store listing. Do not assume a particular installed version includes a fix: check the listing on your device.
- Update iOS or iPadOS. If no Discord update is offered, check for an operating-system update in your device’s settings. Apple recommends updating iOS or iPadOS when an app continues to close unexpectedly, and Discord advises keeping the OS current. Use the symptom to choose your next step
If only profile bio links cause the crash
That trigger matches the specific iOS issue Discord said it fixed in its May 4, 2026 patch notes. Update Discord, then avoid tapping the link until you can test again. If the profile owner can be contacted through another route, you can ask them to temporarily change or remove the link. Neither step guarantees a fix on every device.
If an app or bot profile causes it
Record which control you used. Discord’s June 4, 2026 notes describe fixes for an iOS app-profile Open App action that closed the profile and a View All Commands action that returned to the previous channel. If a related control still fails, try desktop or web Discord as a workaround and include the exact button in a report.

If every profile causes it
Prioritize the general steps: check Discord Status, force-close and restart, update Discord and iOS/iPadOS, then test again. Discord has documented other unrelated iOS crashes and bugs, so “Discord crashes” alone does not identify one cause. Discord’s April 6, 2026 patch notes list other iOS issues.
If one profile or one entry point causes it
Compare that profile with another one and try opening it through a different route. A difference can help narrow the problem to a profile element, an app-specific control, or that entry point, but it is a diagnostic clue rather than a confirmed explanation. Use desktop or web Discord to view the information in the meantime instead of repeatedly provoking the crash.

If Discord freezes or shows a blank profile
Force-close and reopen the app, restart the device, and update both Discord and iOS/iPadOS. Note whether the profile stays visible, turns blank, or becomes unresponsive, and whether the same behavior occurs on another network. If it persists, reinstall only after confirming you can sign back in.
Reinstall Discord only after checking account access
Reinstalling can clear local app state, but it is not a guaranteed fix and requires signing in again. Before deleting Discord, confirm you know the account’s login details and can access your two-factor authentication method, backup codes, or another approved recovery method.

- Confirm you can sign in and complete two-factor authentication.
- Delete Discord from the iPhone or iPad.
- Restart the device.
- Reinstall Discord from the official App Store.
- Sign in and test the profile action before changing optional settings.
Reinstalling should not remove your Discord account, servers, friends, or server-side messages, but it can remove local app state. Discord’s mobile crashing and installation guidance recommends using the official app store and contacting support if crashes continue.

Discord’s troubleshooting material mentions cache-related tools, but it does not establish a cache-clearing control that is available to every iOS user in every app version. Use an in-app cache option only if it is visibly present in your current build; do not follow a menu path copied from instructions for another platform or version. If there is no such option, reinstalling is the more dependable iOS way to clear local app state. Clearing a cache is not the same as deleting your Discord account. Discord’s troubleshooting guide.

If the crash continues, report a reproducible example
Discord’s mobile troubleshooting guidance recommends contacting support when crashing persists. Include enough detail to distinguish an ordinary profile tap from a bio-link or app-profile bug:
- iPhone or iPad model and iOS/iPadOS version
- Discord app version
- Whether every profile crashes or only one
- Exact path to the profile, such as server member list, DM, or search result
- Whether the profile belongs to a user, bot, or app
- The precise action that triggers the problem, including whether you tapped a bio link or a control such as Open App or View All Commands
- Whether it is a crash, freeze, blank profile, loading failure, or unresponsive button
- Whether desktop or web Discord works, and whether the issue occurs on Wi‑Fi, cellular data, or both
- Date and time of the latest occurrence
- A screen recording, if it can be made without exposing private information; provide crash logs or diagnostics if support requests them
Do not include passwords, authentication codes, backup codes, private messages, or full account credentials in a public post. If reinstalling did not help, testing the same account on desktop or web—and another account on the same device, if available—can help distinguish a device-, account-, or profile-specific problem. Discord has documented individual iOS profile bugs, but the available notes do not establish a general issue affecting every profile tap.
