The two capacity figures are not necessarily contradictory: one is the manual’s stated capacity and the other is CHOICE’s measured collector volume. Likewise, a 6 m cord and 8.8 m reach describe different things. CHOICE’s listing of supplied items includes a telescopic wand, hose, carpet/hard-floor tool, crevice tool, upholstery tool, dusting brush, spare dust bag, and four A76/LR44 button batteries. How well does it clean?
The accessible review pages do not establish a cleaning-performance verdict. CHOICE’s public page hides its expert rating and scores for cleaning performance, carpet cleaning, ease of use, pet hair, corners and edges, and noise behind member access. Consumer NZ also gates its model test scores. Is the DDBBC still available?
CHOICE and Consumer NZ list the model as discontinued. Their pages show $90 and $100 respectively, but these are page-listed prices, not confirmed current offers. Consumer NZ’s model entry was last updated 05/04/2018; its broader corded-vacuum guide was updated July 2025. Treat any used listing as an individual sale and check the seller’s current price, condition, and included parts.

Replacement bags and maintenance
Confirm bag fit and supply before purchase
The DDBBC needs a dust bag. The manual warns: “To avoid damage to the vacuum cleaner, never use the appliance without having inserted a dust bag.” Cleanstar lists paper and cloth bags for Dirt Devil DDBC1400/DDBBC models, while Statewide Appliance Spares lists a DDBBCB five-pack as no longer available and says it has no supplier alternative. Compatibility listings and inventory can change, so verify the exact model fit and current stock before ordering. Change the bag safely
- Switch off the vacuum and unplug it before changing the dust bag.
- Replace the bag when the bag-full indicator appears. The manual also says to change it at least every three months and before long-term storage.
- Make sure a bag is inserted before operating the vacuum; do not run it bagless.
The manual describes pre-motor and post-motor filters, but a specific replacement-filter listing for this exact model has not been established. Check the guide and confirm compatibility with a parts supplier before buying filters.

What to check when buying a used DDBBC
Because the model is discontinued, prioritize condition and parts access over an old page-listed price or an unverified performance claim.

- Practical handling: The documented weight differs by source, and reach is not the same as cord length. If possible, inspect the actual unit and check whether its cord and tools suit your rooms.
