Dimensity 7400 Leads in Benchmarks, but Phone Specs Still Matter

Short answer: NanoReview’s pooled results favor the standard MediaTek Dimensity 7400 over the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 in the listed benchmarks, while the official specifications show different CPU, graphics, memory, storage, display, and peak-connectivity capabilities. This is a proxy comparison: the available official MediaTek specification covers Dimensity 7400, not Dimensity 7400 Ultra, and does not establish that every Ultra-branded phone uses an identical configuration. Treat chipset figures as platform capabilities, not guarantees about a particular handset.

Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 vs Dimensity 7400: specifications

The comparison below uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 product brief and MediaTek’s official Dimensity 7400 page. The MediaTek column is a proxy for the Ultra name in the title, not confirmation that all Ultra-branded implementations match the standard 7400. Manufacturers decide which platform capabilities to implement in each phone.

What the benchmark results show

NanoReview’s comparison aggregates results for Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 and standard Dimensity 7400 devices. It is not a controlled test of two phones with identical conditions, so the figures indicate a pattern in the listed samples rather than a guaranteed advantage in every handset.

These are NanoReview page aggregates, not vendor-funded or lab-controlled same-phone results; the page does not give a clear original publication year for each benchmark set. See NanoReview’s comparison page. Benchmark versions and handset implementation affect scores. They cannot establish a particular phone’s gaming frame rate, battery life, temperature, or long-session stability.

How the chipset differences may matter in a phone

CPU and everyday responsiveness

The standard Dimensity 7400’s listed Cortex-A78 performance cores reach a higher peak clock than the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3’s performance cores. NanoReview’s Geekbench 6 aggregates are also higher for the Dimensity 7400 in both single-core and multi-core results. Neither fact alone predicts how responsive a specific phone feels: memory, storage, software, thermal limits, and the workload contribute to the experience.

Graphics and gaming

The official specifications identify an Adreno GPU for Snapdragon and Mali-G615 MC2 for Dimensity 7400. The Snapdragon brief captured for this comparison does not specify the Adreno model, so a more precise graphics-unit comparison is not established here. NanoReview’s pooled 3DMark Steel Nomad Light results favor Dimensity 7400, but they do not translate directly into game settings or frame rates on a particular phone.

Memory, storage, and display choices

Both platforms support LPDDR4x or LPDDR5 memory, but the briefs describe the capabilities differently: Qualcomm lists support for up to 12 GB, while MediaTek lists memory speed up to 6400 Mbps. Snapdragon’s listed storage support is UFS 3.1; Dimensity supports UFS 2.2 or UFS 3.1. A phone maker’s actual RAM and storage configuration can therefore be as important as the chipset when comparing models.

The listed display ceilings differ too. Snapdragon specifies FHD+ up to 120 Hz, while Dimensity lists WFHD+ up to 120 Hz or FHD+ up to 144 Hz. These are platform capabilities; they do not mean every phone using the chip offers those resolutions or refresh rates.

Connectivity figures are platform ceilings, not speed promises

Qualcomm lists peak 5G downlink up to 2.9 Gbps and Wi-Fi 6E. MediaTek lists peak downlink up to 3.27 Gbps, Wi-Fi 6E support as an OEM option, and Bluetooth 5.4. Those maximums do not predict a phone’s real-world download speed or network support. Carrier, region, coverage, supported bands, modem implementation, and antenna design affect what a device can deliver. The cited platform figures and feature notes are summarized on NanoReview’s comparison page.

MediaTek’s generational claims are not a head-to-head result

MediaTek says Dimensity 7400 improves performance by over 10% compared with its previous generation and advertises improvements for NPU and camera tasks. That is the company’s stated generational comparison, not an independent finding against Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. Qualcomm’s captured product brief lists platform features but does not provide a directly comparable independent performance statistic. See MediaTek’s Dimensity 7400 product page for its claims.

How to choose between phones using these chips

Choose between complete phone models, not chipset names alone. The specification and benchmark evidence here cannot establish which handset is the better purchase without model-specific information. Compare the options on the same practical criteria:

  • Price and availability in your region.
  • Sustained performance and temperature under the same workload, rather than a single peak benchmark score.
  • Battery life and charging.
  • Camera hardware and image processing.
  • Installed memory and storage type.
  • Software update policy.
  • Supported 5G bands for your carrier and country.

A separate comparison page uses the Dimensity 7400 Ultra name, but that does not establish equivalence across all Ultra-branded products. See the 91mobiles comparison result; confirm the exact chipset and phone specifications for the model you are considering.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
