Did Tokenized SanDisk Bets See More Liquidations Than XRP? The $800 Million Claim Is Unverified

The claim that tokenized SanDisk bets suffered more liquidations than XRP during an Asia-led chip selloff that wiped out $800 million is not corroborated by the available reporting. A separate liquidation snapshot puts SanDisk below XRP, and the claim does not identify which SanDisk-linked token, venue, or time period it refers to.

What the available figures show

A Coinotag report summarizing a CoinGlass top-20 liquidation table gives SanDisk liquidations of $1.835 million, with 97% on the long side, and XRP liquidations of $1.96 million. In that particular snapshot, SanDisk did not exceed XRP. The report’s publication date is not established in the available account, and its figures should not be treated as a total for the alleged $800 million event.

The snapshot is also limited by its scope: it covers the top 20 most-liquidated assets and exchanges, and the report cautions that venue coverage and aggregation methods can produce different totals. It does not establish the comparison for another period, another set of exchanges, or a market-wide liquidation tally.

What remains unverified about the $800 million claim

The available sources do not establish the date or UTC time window of the alleged chip rout, the exchanges included, the liquidation dataset, or how the $800 million figure was calculated. They also do not show whether the SanDisk-versus-XRP comparison refers to dollar value, number of positions, or another measure. Without those details, the selloff framing and both parts of the headline claim remain unconfirmed.

Liquidation totals are only comparable when they use the same time interval, venue set, and unit. A sound comparison would report dollar value for both assets over one stated UTC window, distinguish long liquidations from short liquidations, and say whether the number comes from one exchange, an aggregate across named venues, or a ranked top-assets table. A figure drawn from one of those scopes cannot automatically be compared with a figure drawn from another.

“Tokenized SanDisk bets” could mean different products

The phrase does not identify a single instrument. The available product descriptions distinguish at least three SanDisk-linked names; they should not be treated as interchangeable tickers or claims.

Name What the source identifies What that establishes here
SNDKx Backed Assets (JE) Limited’s May 8, 2026 final terms identify Sandisk Corporation as the underlying for a tokenized security called Sandisk Corporation xStock. Issuer documentation identifies a security product, but does not connect it to the alleged liquidation event.
SNDKX Pionex describes this as a tokenized SanDisk perpetual futures product. The platform says perpetual futures can involve leverage, funding costs, and liquidation risk. Its description does not establish that this was the instrument in the claim.
SNDKB CoinMarketCap’s October 11, 2026 page names SanDisk Tokenized bStocks. The page is an AI-generated market analysis and does not verify the alleged event.

The distinction matters because a tokenized security and a leveraged perpetual future do not necessarily have the same structure or liquidation mechanics. The futures-related risks described by Pionex should not be assumed to apply to SNDKx; investors would need to consult the governing documents for the specific product. To substantiate a liquidation report, the source would need to identify the exact ticker, issuer, venue, and product type.

Why Ripple Prime is not proof of the event

CoinDesk reported on October 8, 2026, that Ripple Prime had entered institutional financing for leveraged equity exposure, including SanDisk, through total return swaps. The report followed Ripple’s $1.25 billion acquisition of Hidden Road. That is evidence of related institutional financing activity; it does not establish liquidations in a retail-facing tokenized product, identify an Asian chip selloff, or validate an $800 million total.

What would verify the comparison

A credible report of the event should let readers check the same underlying data for both assets. At minimum, it needs to state:

  • the exact SanDisk-linked product and ticker, plus the venue or venues where it traded;
  • the start and end of the measurement period in UTC, and the geographic meaning of “Asia” if that label is used;
  • whether the $800 million refers to liquidations, losses, a broader market move, or another measure;
  • the calculation method and source dataset, including which exchanges are covered;
  • SanDisk and XRP liquidation values over that same period, in the same unit, with long and short sides separated.

Until such a contemporaneous source or underlying dataset is available, the defensible conclusion is narrower: one reported snapshot puts SanDisk’s $1.835 million below XRP’s $1.96 million, while the separate $800 million Asia-rout claim and its SanDisk-versus-XRP comparison have not been verified.
