The 2021 minority investment was announced by HeidelbergCement, while a separate 2021 story involved Titan Virginia Ready-Mix using Command Alkon software in a quality-control integration. Command Alkon later announced a change in majority ownership in 2026. The distinction is important: one story concerns ownership, and the other concerns a customer’s operational workflow.
Who invested in Command Alkon?
In September 2021, HeidelbergCement announced an agreement to acquire a 45% minority stake in Command Alkon. Thoma Bravo retained majority ownership at that point. The named investor was HeidelbergCement—not TITAN Group. Read HeidelbergCement’s transaction announcement.

The distinction matters because TITAN Group and Titan Virginia Ready-Mix are not interchangeable names. A separate customer story involving Titan Virginia appears to be a likely source of confusion, but it describes software use, not an equity investment. The exact-title item also appears in Command Alkon’s resource-library listing, but the listing text available here does not establish that TITAN Group made an investment.

What happened with Titan Virginia?
In July 2021, Forney described an integration involving Titan Virginia Ready-Mix and Command Alkon. Titan Virginia used Command Alkon’s COMMANDqc for ready-mix quality control, while ForneyVault connected testing-machine data to that workflow. The announcement presents Titan Virginia as a customer in an operational software integration—not as an investor or owner of Command Alkon. Read Forney’s announcement.

The integration was intended to move test results into the quality-control process without duplicate entry. James M. Shilstone, Jr., Product Owner for COMMANDqc, said: “Sharing data between the two programs eliminates the need for double entry and makes the test results available to the QC manager more quickly.” Scott Grumski, Forney LP’s Vice President of Platform Development, described the practical change this way: “ForneyVault’s integration with Command Alkon’s software allows Titan’s quality control technician to lose the clipboard and pencil.” These are statements from the companies involved, not independently measured performance results.
In practical terms, the documented workflow links data from testing machines through ForneyVault to COMMANDqc, so quality-control staff can access test results in the software process. The source describes this particular connection; it does not specify a general setup checklist, supported machine models, implementation cost, or performance metrics for other deployments. Readers evaluating a similar system would need to verify product compatibility and integration requirements with the vendors.

Forney also reported that, at the time of its 2021 announcement, labs in more than 109 locations across five countries had logged over 1,000,000 tests with ForneyVault. That company-reported figure concerns ForneyVault generally; it is not a count of Titan Virginia tests.

How the investment and customer integration differ
| Event | Parties and date | What it describes |
|---|---|---|
| Minority investment announcement | HeidelbergCement and Command Alkon, September 2021; 45% stake announced, with Thoma Bravo retaining majority ownership | An equity transaction and ownership stake |
| Quality-control integration | Titan Virginia Ready-Mix, Command Alkon and Forney, July 2021 | COMMANDqc and ForneyVault connecting ready-mix quality-control and testing data |
These events should not be conflated: the first identifies an investor and a stake in the company; the second identifies a customer workflow using connected software and testing data. Command Alkon describes its software as serving heavy building-materials producers across plant operations, dispatch, fleet intelligence, field technologies and decision support. In its 2026 announcement, the company said more than 14,000 plants in over 80 countries relied on its technology. That is a company-reported figure, not an independently audited count in the cited announcement. CEO Martin Willoughby said: “Our mission remains unchanged: we exist to help our customers succeed.”
