Those are dated retailer observations, not guaranteed current prices. NVIDIA’s US product page displayed $199.99 when accessed on October 3, 2026, and the available information does not establish that NVIDIA formally raised the device’s MSRP.
What changed in the reported price?
Android Authority’s October 2, 2026 report recorded an Amazon listing at $300.26 and a Best Buy listing at $299.99, describing both as roughly $100 more than the previous $200 asking price. The report does not establish how long those listings lasted or provide a verified retailer price history, so treat the figures as a snapshot rather than a current quote.

NVIDIA’s US SHIELD TV Pro product page displayed $199.99 when accessed October 3, 2026. That official page is useful context, but it does not by itself prove a formal MSRP change or explain why retailer listings differed. The Pro launched at $199 in 2019, according to NVIDIA’s announcement.

Android Authority writer Hadlee Simons suggested that higher memory and storage costs might be involved, writing, “We’re guessing that the RAM crisis has resulted in NVIDIA paying more for the Shield TV Pro’s memory and storage.” That is the writer’s conjecture, not a statement from NVIDIA. NVIDIA has not been quoted confirming this explanation, and no quantified memory-price trend or independent evidence tying component costs to these listings is established here.

Is it worth paying around $300?
A retailer listing near $300 is about $100 above the report’s cited $200 asking price and the $199 launch price, while NVIDIA’s page displayed $199.99 on October 3, 2026. Given that gap and the lack of a verified formal price change, it is sensible to check the official page and multiple retailers before paying the higher amount. Whether the Pro is worth it depends on the features you actually use, especially its Ethernet and USB connections, expandable storage, and home-theater capabilities.

Android Authority also named the Google TV Streamer and onn 4K Pro 2026 as alternatives, but its report did not provide a price or feature-by-feature comparison. Do not assume they are equivalent, particularly for gaming or emulation. Compare current street price and stock, app and platform support, HDR and audio formats, ports and storage expansion, Ethernet, software support, and any specific media-server or home-theater functions you rely on.
