Steam’s reviewed snapshot lists Russian-language reviews as Mostly Positive, while its recent-review summary is Mostly Negative across all languages. Neither rating identifies reviewers’ location or explains their reasons.
What the Steam review figures actually show
In the Steam store snapshot reviewed, the Russian-language category had 346,639 reviews and was rated Mostly Positive. “Russian-language” describes the language of a review, not the reviewer’s residence or nationality. The count is a changing platform snapshot, not a survey of Russian players. Steam’s PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS store page

The same snapshot showed 36,533 recent reviews across all languages, rated Mostly Negative. That all-language summary does not say how many reviews came from Russia, whether Russian players could connect to servers, or why reviewers were dissatisfied. It cannot establish a Russia-specific trend or a link between access and review sentiment. Steam’s PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS store page

No. The official notice reviewed is about account-unlocking rules for people whose accounts were stolen. Dated July 21, 2026, it says the changes take effect July 22, 2026, at 05:00 MSK; it does not announce a restriction on Russian players’ server access. PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS official news

That notice does not settle whether separate technical, commercial, regulatory, or regional service issues affected players in Russia. It simply is not evidence of a Russia-specific server restriction.
What negative Steam reviews may be about
Steam Community reviews and posts are user-generated, and visible examples do not represent all players or prove the cause of a broader shift in ratings. Examples on the community page include criticism of PUBG’s handling of a 2026 esports controversy involving professional players. Those examples point to a possible source of dissatisfaction for some users, but they do not establish a Russia-specific access issue or explain the overall recent-review rating. What remains unverified
The reviewed sources do not establish that Russian players lost access to PUBG servers, that Steam reviews changed because of such a loss, or that recent negative reviews came from Russian players. Steam’s language category and all-language recent summary cannot answer those questions. A firm conclusion would require direct confirmation from PUBG or KRAFTON, or credible reporting that identifies the affected territory, platform, service or server region, and timeframe.
