No reliable evidence shows Rockstar modifying real vehicles to resemble GTA 6 cars and then driving them through Miami. The claim appears to confuse three real elements: GTA VI’s fictional cars, Rockstar’s Miami-inspired setting, and trailer scenes that recreate viral Florida moments. None documents a real-world Rockstar car stunt.
What is confirmed about the alleged Miami stunt?
No official Rockstar announcement, credible news report or Miami-local account has documented the company building GTA VI replicas, taking them onto Miami streets or filming a promotional drive. The available evidence supports an in-game vehicle story, not a real-life modification project.

That distinction matters because GTA VI’s cars are deliberately recognizable without being licensed copies. Rockstar uses fictional manufacturers and model names, then borrows visual cues from real vehicles. GTA6Gang’s 2026 vehicle database tracks more than 260 entries across 23 classes, while warning that only a much smaller group has been officially shown. A database entry, a frame identified in a trailer and a prediction based on earlier Grand Theft Auto games are not equivalent evidence.

Rockstar’s established approach is visual allusion rather than official branding. As the GTA6Gang Editorial Team puts it, “Rockstar never uses real car brands — but almost every vehicle is a clear nod to something you can find in the real world.” That lets the game reproduce familiar proportions and automotive culture while keeping the cars inside the fictional world of Leonida.
#1 Best Overall
The most useful way to judge a suspected inspiration is to separate three tests:
- Body shape and proportions: overall silhouette, wheelbase, roofline and stance.
- Recognizable details: grilles, headlights, rear lamps, window shapes, bumpers and trim.
- Evidence status: whether the vehicle appears in official footage, only in the 2022 development leak, or is merely expected from franchise history.
Jalopnik’s frame analysis uses the term “lookalikes,” which is more accurate than calling the cars licensed real-world models.

The clearest real-car inspirations shown or discussed
| GTA VI-style vehicle reference | Real-world resemblance | Evidence status and limits |
|---|---|---|
| Classic muscle car | Chevrolet Chevelle-like proportions and detailing | Identified in extended-look footage as a visual lookalike; it is not a Chevrolet-branded car in the game. |
| Large pickup | Ford F-150-like shape | Recognizable pickup proportions in footage; fictional branding and exact model identity remain separate questions. |
| Small classic convertible | BMW E30-like styling | Frame-based resemblance; no licensed BMW appearance is established. |
| Modern muscle car | Dodge Challenger/Charger cues | Design details echo both Dodge muscle-car forms, but the in-game vehicle uses a fictional identity. |
| Compact sports coupe | Audi TT-like profile | Appearance-based comparison, not confirmation of an Audi model. |
| Full-size pickup | Ram 1500-like front and body treatment | Lookalike identification from footage; branding is fictional. |
| Family sedan | Honda Accord-like proportions | Visual reference only; no official Honda licensing is indicated. |
| Luxury and utility SUVs | Range Rover, Toyota RAV4 and BMW X5-inspired shapes | Recognizable silhouettes have been discussed from footage, but the game’s names and badges are fictional. |
| American luxury cars | Cadillac- and Lincoln-like styling | Design language is echoed without establishing a real manufacturer relationship. |
| Sports car | Corvette-like cues | A resemblance in shape or detailing does not make it a licensed Corvette. |
| Executive sedan | Mercedes E-Class-like design | Frame comparison only; the fictional in-game brand remains the supported description. |
Some frequently mentioned comparisons require extra caution. Porsche 911, Ford Crown Victoria and Toyota AE86 references are consistent with the kinds of cars the franchise has used or evoked historically, but the supplied evidence does not establish each as a confirmed, officially shown GTA VI vehicle. They belong in an “expected” or “franchise reference” category, not a confirmed-appearance list.

Why the 2022 leak should not be treated as a current vehicle catalog
In 2022, an unauthorized intrusion exposed early Grand Theft Auto development footage. Rockstar’s statement, reproduced by GamesRadar, said: “We recently suffered a network intrusion in which an unauthorized third party illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information from our systems, including early development footage for the next Grand Theft Auto.”

- This product contains a download code inside the box — no disc is included. Customer shipments will begin arriving November 12 for pre-load; game is playable starting November 19.
- Pre-order to receive the Vintage Vice City Pack.
- Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience.
That footage can help explain where some vehicle comparisons came from, but it represents work in progress. Models, textures, names, traffic populations and mission details can change before release. A car visible in leaked material should therefore be labeled as “seen in the 2022 leak,” not automatically as a final game feature.
What Miami research and the trailers actually show
Vice City is GTA VI’s fictionalized version of Miami, located in the broader state-like region of Leonida. GamesRadar has reported that Rockstar researched Florida life, including spending time on beaches and riding with former police officers. That helps explain the setting’s street scenes, law-enforcement behavior and regional atmosphere, but it is not evidence that Rockstar drove physical game cars through Miami.

- Grand Theft Auto III: It all starts in Liberty City
- Grand Theft Auto: Vice City: Welcome to the 1980s
- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas: Five years ago, Carl 'CJ' Johnson escaped the haze of Los Santos, San Andreas...a city tearing itself apart with gang trouble, drugs, and corruption.
Trailer 1 also recreates or echoes real internet-famous incidents. Viewers can spot:
- a woman dancing on a moving car;
- alligator encounters associated with Florida news and social media;
- the mugshot appearance commonly nicknamed the “Florida Joker.”
These are in-game scenes inspired by real incidents or online imagery. Their presence demonstrates Rockstar’s habit of transforming recognizable Florida culture into game content; it does not document a live-action stunt involving modified vehicles.

How to verify future claims about “real GTA 6 cars”
- Look for a primary statement. A Rockstar announcement, production video or authenticated behind-the-scenes post should identify the vehicle and the event.
- Check the setting and date. A Miami street video may show a fan build, film production or unrelated promotional activity rather than Rockstar.
- Separate branding from resemblance. A grille or roofline can suggest a real car without proving licensing or an official replica.
- Classify the footage. Mark it as official trailer material, leaked 2022 development footage or speculation based on earlier games.
- Demand independent confirmation. One reposted clip or anonymous social account is not enough to establish a company-run stunt.
Can players recreate these cars?
Players can use the visual comparisons as inspiration for fictional in-game builds or real-world fan projects, but there is no verified Rockstar modification kit, official replica program or endorsement of converting a road car into a GTA VI vehicle. Any real-car recreation would be an independent project, with its own safety, road-legal, insurance and intellectual-property considerations.
A physical GTA VI edition for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X is a separate product question from the alleged stunt. Retailer and Amazon availability changes over time and is not established by the evidence behind this claim, so it should be checked directly before purchase.
The Bottom Line
The supported conclusion is straightforward: GTA VI’s vehicles are fictional designs inspired by real cars, and Vice City draws heavily on Miami. No reliable evidence currently shows Rockstar modifying real cars and driving them through Miami.
