What do the available figures show?
The figures available for August 2026 describe three different measures, with different holders and denominators. They cannot be treated as interchangeable evidence of a Kotak-only stake above 5%.

The 5.42% collective figure includes funds from multiple fund houses; it is not a Kotak figure. The 2.22% summary is the closest available Kotak-level ownership figure, but it does not establish a holding above 5%. The 4.53% figure answers a different question: how much of Kotak Healthcare Fund’s portfolio was invested in Molbio.

A company ownership percentage uses Molbio’s outstanding shares as its denominator. A fund portfolio weight uses the fund’s net assets. For example, a fund can invest 4.53% of its assets in a company without owning 4.53% of that company. The fund’s portfolio weight depends on the value of its Molbio investment relative to the value of all its assets; the company stake depends on the number of Molbio shares held relative to the company’s shares.

Investing.com’s summary also lists Kotak Equity Hybrid at 1.04% and Kotak Contra at 0.45%, alongside share counts. Those scheme-level entries are separate from the AMC-wide 2.22% figure. The summary figures do not, on their own, show how a claimed Kotak aggregate was calculated or establish a crossing above 5%.
Has a filing confirmed that Kotak crossed the threshold?
No Kotak disclosure confirming the claimed crossing was identified in the available material. Molbio’s investor page provides company reports, offer documents, policies and filings, but the results reviewed did not identify a Kotak substantial-shareholding notice. This is not proof that no such filing exists: the claim remains unverified unless an original Kotak disclosure or exchange filing confirms it.

Other notices surfaced in the 2026 filing archive and exchange results, including Regulation 29(2) disclosures by India Business Excellence Fund III in September and October 2026. Those notices concern a different holder and do not substantiate the Kotak claim. Molbio’s NSE-hosted quarterly filing identifies the company as a healthcare business and reports unaudited consolidated results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, approved by its board on September 5, 2026; it is not evidence of Kotak crossing 5%.

What would settle the question?
A definitive answer requires a primary document that identifies the holder, the number of shares, the relevant denominator and the event date. A reader checking the claim should distinguish among an individual Kotak scheme, multiple Kotak schemes aggregated, a disclosed AMC-level holder, and all mutual funds collectively. Those categories may produce different figures and cannot be substituted for one another.

- Locate the original Kotak monthly portfolio disclosure or the relevant exchange filing, rather than relying only on an ownership-summary page.
- Check which Kotak entity or schemes the document names and whether the reported share count is individual or aggregated.
- Compare that count with Molbio’s relevant shareholding pattern or the denominator stated in the filing, and verify the date of the reported event.
- If discussing a threshold notification, use the original exchange document and check the current text of the applicable SEBI regulation. Search results mentioning Regulation 29(2) for another investor are not a substitute.
Until such a document confirms the holder and calculation, the responsible description is that the available August summaries show 5.42% collective mutual-fund ownership and a 2.22% Kotak AMC holding—not a verified Kotak crossing of 5%.
