Investing.com says InvestingPro’s Fair Value analysis flagged Vaxcyte (NASDAQ: PCVX) as overvalued in September 2024, before the stock later fell. Its retrospective reports a $62.99-per-share estimate against a then-price of $111.58, implying 43.55% downside; it says the later price was $56.90, a 49.19% decline. Those figures suggest the estimate was directionally close, but the available record does not independently verify the original forecast or establish that InvestingPro reliably predicted the move.
What Investing.com says the model predicted
In an October 1, 2026 retrospective, Investing.com reported that InvestingPro’s Fair Value analysis identified Vaxcyte as overvalued in September 2024. The retrospective gives a share price of $111.58 at the time and a Fair Value estimate of $62.99, which it describes as 43.55% implied downside. It then reports a later price of $56.90 and a 49.19% decline. Investing.com’s retrospective is the source for these historical figures; an archived September 2024 InvestingPro model record and an independent historical price series matching the stated dates are not available here.
Using only the displayed, rounded prices, the fall from $111.58 to $56.90 is about 49.0%, not exactly 49.19%. The more precise percentage may use underlying prices with additional decimal places or a calculation detail the article does not state. The $62.99 estimate is about 43.55% below $111.58.
How strong is the “prediction” claim?
The comparison is a retrospective account, not a verifiable forecast archive. It does not provide a timestamped model export showing what investors could see in September 2024, the model version and inputs, or a clearly defined price horizon and measurement convention. Without those records, the reported match between implied downside and subsequent decline is evidence of a reported historical call—not proof that the call was available in that form at the time or that the model can reliably anticipate future prices.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
A stock later reaching a price near a model’s estimate also does not show that the estimate caused or explained the decline. Forecast accuracy would require more than one selected example and a consistent method for defining the forecast date, target, horizon, and observed price.
What to check when assessing a valuation retrospective
- Timestamp and auditability: Is the original estimate preserved with a date, or is it described only after the outcome?
- Price definitions: Are the starting and ending figures closing prices, intraday prices, or adjusted prices, and do their dates match the stated period?
- Forecast horizon: Did the estimate specify a target and a period over which to assess it?
- Method disclosure: Are the valuation date, inputs, assumptions, and model version available?
- Context: Which company, clinical, financing, or broader market developments occurred, and which explanations are documented rather than asserted?
For the September 2024 claim, the key missing evidence is the dated original estimate alongside an independently matched price record. The retrospective supplies the forecast and price figures; those figures alone cannot answer the auditability and reliability questions.

Why Vaxcyte’s business matters to the context
Vaxcyte describes itself as a clinical-stage vaccine company developing vaccines for bacterial infectious diseases. Its 2025 Form 10-K says it had no products approved for commercial sale. The company reported net losses of $766.6 million in 2025 and $463.9 million in 2024, and an accumulated deficit of $2.2 billion as of December 31, 2025. These issuer-reported figures provide business context, but do not establish why its share price moved or whether a particular valuation was correct. Vaxcyte’s SEC filings
Clinical milestones reported in 2026
In an August 5, 2026 update, Vaxcyte said its three adult VAX-31 Phase 3 OPUS trials were fully enrolled. The company expected OPUS-1 topline data in the fourth quarter of 2026 and OPUS-2 and OPUS-3 results in the first half of 2027; these were expectations, not reported results. It also said 6,191 adults had been dosed across the three trials, approximately 3,500 of whom received VAX-31. The update reported $2.5 billion in cash, cash equivalents, and investments as of June 30, 2026—an issuer-reported balance, not a valuation of PCVX shares. Vaxcyte’s August 5, 2026 update

Vaxcyte’s homepage describes VAX-31 as designed to increase coverage of pneumococcal disease in adults and children. That is the company’s description of a candidate vaccine, not proof of effectiveness or approval. Vaxcyte

Investing.com also published a separate account of a January 2024 Fair Value call. It reported a $62.94-per-share price and a predicted 45.33% downside, followed by a later $33.95 price and a 46% decline by August 2025. That is a different retrospective and period from the September 2024 claim; it does not supply the missing archive for the later estimate. Investing.com’s earlier retrospective
