India’s Ministry of Defence says Tarang Shakti 2026 is taking place at Jodhpur from 26 September to 12 October, with F-35 Lightning II and Rafale aircraft among the foreign aircraft listed. Its announcement does not identify Tejas or Sukhoi in that aircraft list, or confirm that all four types flew together in one formation. The distinction matters: an exercise’s participants are not proof of what appears in a particular video.
What the official 2026 announcement confirms
The Ministry of Defence’s 27 September 2026 announcement says Tarang Shakti 2026 is scheduled at Air Force Station Jodhpur from 26 September through 12 October. It names Australia, the United States, the UAE, France, Germany, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh as foreign participants.

The release lists these foreign aircraft types: F-35 Lightning II, Rafale, F-16, A400M, MRTT, C-130, C-130J and KC-30A. It says the participating contingents operate alongside the Indian Air Force, but does not identify which IAF aircraft are involved in that passage. It therefore confirms F-35 and Rafale participation, not the presence of Tejas and Sukhoi in a specific formation.

Does that prove the four aircraft flew together?
No. The reviewed official announcements establish exercise dates, locations, participants and some aircraft types; they do not establish that an Indian Tejas, French Rafale, US F-35 and Russian-made Sukhoi flew together in one formation. A video could show aircraft from different moments or activities, and an accompanying caption alone would not resolve that question.

To verify a particular clip, the original footage and its publication details are needed: its source, date, caption, and clear visual identification of the aircraft. Without that evidence, the formation claim should be treated as unconfirmed rather than as a fact established by the exercise announcement.
Tarang Shakti 2024 was a different edition
Tarang Shakti 2024 should not be conflated with the 2026 event. The Ministry’s Annual Report 2024–25 describes two phases: Sulur from 6 to 14 August, with the UK, Germany, France and Spain; and Jodhpur from 29 August to 14 September, with Australia, Greece, Japan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, the UAE and the United States. The report says 19 foreign air force contingents participated as observers. These are 2024 details, not a 2026 participant list.

The UK government gives a more specific example from the 2024 Sulur phase: its RAF detachment comprised 130 personnel, six Eurofighter Typhoons, two A330 Voyager air-to-air refuellers and one A400M transport aircraft. Those figures describe the British contingent, not the total aircraft or personnel at the exercise. The UK government account also quotes British High Commissioner Lindy Cameron congratulating the Indian Air Force on organising its first multilateral air exercise and welcoming the RAF’s participation.
What Tarang Shakti is intended to do
The Ministry frames the exercise around joint training, operational exchange and interoperability: the ability of forces to work together. Multinational air exercises can bring participating contingents into a shared training environment, but that purpose does not by itself show that every participating aircraft flew in the same sortie or formation.
