What can be assessed is the market context: secondary reporting says Apple unveiled its first foldable iPhone, while a TrendForce forecast reported by Benzinga projects a larger, more competitive foldable-phone market in 2026.
Did Huawei welcome Apple’s foldable iPhone?
The headline appeared in an Apple-news aggregator as an AndroidHeadlines story, but the underlying article text was not accessible. The aggregator listing does not identify a Huawei speaker or provide a statement. Without the article or a primary Huawei comment, it is not possible to confirm what “welcomed” means or whether the wording reflects Huawei’s position rather than the publisher’s framing. The aggregator listing establishes the headline’s appearance, not its claim.

What is reported about the iPhone Duo?
Benzinga reported on September 11, 2026 that Apple had unveiled the iPhone Duo as its first foldable iPhone. The outlet described inner and outer displays, a titanium frame and a hinge. Those are details from secondary coverage, not specifications independently confirmed here against Apple’s official materials. Benzinga also reported a $1,999 starting price; that is a reported launch price, not a verified current price or assurance of availability in every region. Benzinga’s launch coverage is the source for these claims.

What does the 2026 market forecast say?
Benzinga reported TrendForce’s forecast of 20.2 million foldable-phone shipments worldwide in 2026. The same forecast estimated Apple and Huawei at about 5 million units each, or 24.8% market share apiece, and Samsung at about 7.1 million units, or 35.1%. These are projections reported by Benzinga, not final shipment results; the original TrendForce report was not available in the cited coverage.

| Company | 2026 shipments forecast | Projected share |
|---|---|---|
| Apple | About 5 million | 24.8% |
| Huawei | About 5 million | 24.8% |
| Samsung | About 7.1 million | 35.1% |
All figures in the table are TrendForce’s 2026 estimates as reported by Benzinga. The forecast places Apple and Huawei on similar projected volumes, with Samsung higher; it does not establish how the companies’ devices compare in performance, durability, software support or multitasking.
Could Apple’s entry boost foldable-phone innovation?
It could increase competitive pressure: a major new entrant may give rivals and suppliers stronger incentives to differentiate products or respond to demand. Benzinga’s report discusses potential competitive and supply-chain effects, but neither that discussion nor a shipment forecast demonstrates that innovation has already accelerated or that consumers have received measurable benefits.
