Diablo IV is available on Nintendo Switch 2 as the Diablo IV: Age of Hatred Collection. Nintendo says the collection includes the base game, Vessel of Hatred, and Lord of Hatred. Playing requires an internet connection and a Battle.net account. Nintendo also advertises cross-progression and cross-play, but its Australian listing says an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription is required to enable cross-play.
What you need to play Diablo IV on Switch 2
- An internet connection: Nintendo UK says a persistent internet connection is required to play, so do not expect an offline campaign. Nintendo UK product listing.
- A Battle.net account: Nintendo Australia’s listing says an internet connection and Battle.net account are required to play. Nintendo Australia product listing.
- Nintendo Switch Online for cross-play: Nintendo Australia states that an active subscription is required to enable cross-play. The UK listing also says paid membership is required for online play modes generally. Check your own region’s eShop listing for the applicable membership notice.
Cross-progression and cross-play are different
Cross-progression
Nintendo describes cross-progression as supported, allowing progress continuity across supported platforms. Its Switch 2 product listing does not specify which account data, purchases, currencies, or entitlements carry over, nor does it give current account-linking instructions. For setup details, consult Blizzard Support; do not assume every purchase or currency transfers.

Cross-play
Cross-play means multiplayer with people using other platforms. Nintendo advertises the feature and its Australian listing makes an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription a condition for enabling it. Cross-play is not the same thing as cross-progression: one concerns multiplayer, the other concerns progress continuity.

Nintendo Save Data Cloud
Nintendo Australia separately lists Save Data Cloud and says a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership is needed to use Nintendo’s cloud-save service. That feature is distinct from Diablo IV’s advertised cross-progression; the product listing does not say they are interchangeable.
