The EN500 manual specifies Nespresso Original capsules. It is not a Vertuo machine. If you are buying capsules, check that the package says Nespresso Original or otherwise explicitly lists compatibility with the Original system; do not assume that a capsule for Vertuo will fit. Third-party capsule compatibility should be confirmed on the capsule packaging or with its maker.

How the milk drinks work
The removable milk jug supports the EN500’s one-touch cappuccino and latte macchiato programs. This makes the machine most suitable for someone who wants an occasional milk drink without separately steaming or frothing milk. Because the workflow uses a single-serve jug, it is less convenient if you regularly make several milk drinks in succession and want to refill or clean the milk system less often.
The manual’s listed drinks are cappuccino and latte macchiato; it does not establish a broader menu of customizable milk recipes. The machine also offers espresso and lungo without milk.

Size, water tank, and capsule container
De’Longhi and Nespresso’s 2017 EN500 manual lists dimensions of 6.1 × 10.5 × 12.8 inches, a 1 L removable water tank, and a used-capsule container that holds approximately 8–10 capsules. The manual gives the dimensions in that order; check available counter depth and height against the machine’s actual orientation and the space needed to open or remove its parts.

Milk jug
The manual says the milk jug is dishwasher-safe. Remove and clean the milk-system components according to the manual’s care instructions, and do so promptly after preparing milk drinks; dried milk is harder to remove than fresh residue. Follow the manual for assembly and cleaning rather than forcing parts or using an improvised cleaning cycle.

Descaling
The EN500 manual recommends the Nespresso descaling kit. Consult the manual’s descaling instructions for the sequence and required precautions. The recommendation identifies the kit to use; it does not establish that all other descalers are harmful.

It may suit a buyer who specifically wants Nespresso Original capsules, espresso and lungo, and one-touch cappuccino or latte macchiato from a compact machine. It is a weaker fit for someone who wants a larger milk-serving workflow, a wider documented recipe menu, or a machine whose current warranty and support terms are easy to verify.
