It suits beginners and people who want fewer separate tools. It is a weaker choice for experienced home baristas who want to adjust every variable themselves.
This review is based on De’Longhi’s own product and support pages, a 2019 manufacturer video, and one independent review by Bean & Burr, updated July 20, 2026. It does not reflect hands-on testing by this site, and it does not include measured extraction, grind or temperature data, because none was available from these sources.

What the EC9335M is
The EC9335M is an espresso machine with an integrated sensor grinder and a Smart Tamping Station. The model number is spelled EC9335M on De’Longhi’s US support center, and EC9335.M on the De’Longhi Ireland product page. Both refer to the same machine, but the punctuation differs by market, so check the label on the box or the back of the unit when you buy or look up manuals.
The machine is a semi-automatic espresso maker. You load whole beans, choose a function, and then take over for the parts the machine does not handle: distributing the coffee, starting and stopping the shot according to what you taste, and steaming milk.

How the workflow works
The EC9335M is built around a sequence that the manufacturer describes as guided. Based on De’Longhi’s product copy, the steps are:
Recommended Free Tools
Rank #2
- Perfect, consistent grinding with a built-in grinder with 15 precise settings that ensures the optimal single or double dose and grind size.
- Smart Tamping Technology eliminates the guesswork and mess when tamping. Simply pull the lever to tamp and achieve an even tamp and consistent extraction every time.
- La Specialista Maestro has a 19 bar Italian pump that delivers the perfect pressure needed throughout the brewing process from low pressure during pre-infusion to the optimal 9 bars of high pressure during extraction.
- With 5 infusion temperatures, Active Temperature Control provides stability and control in the brewing process. Customize temperature settings at the touch of a button to match water infusion temperature to beans for the optimal extraction.
- Choose how you craft drinks at home for greater ease and personalization with Automatic Frothing and manual Commercial Style Steam Wand. Enjoy one-touch frothing with the LatteCrema Hot system or craft hands on with MyLatte Art for greater control and personalization.
- Grind. The machine uses what De’Longhi calls Sensor Grinding Technology to set grind texture on the integrated grinder. You choose the grind setting and dose; the sources reviewed do not describe how many grind steps the dial offers.
- Tamp in the filter holder. De’Longhi’s Ireland page states: “After grinding, tamp directly in the filter holder by simply pushing lever down.” The Smart Tamping Station compresses the grounds in the filter holder, so you do not need a separate tamper or a separate tamping step on the counter.
- Extract. The machine uses Active Temperature Control and two independent heating systems. De’Longhi presents these as features for brewing stability, but the sources reviewed contain no independent measurement of temperature stability.
- Steam milk. The Advanced Latte System is manual. It has FLAT and FOAM selector positions. You control the steaming yourself, so milk texture depends on your technique.
The manufacturer’s instructional video, published by De’Longhi North America on August 30, 2019, covers setup and use. It is a product demonstration, not an independent test.
Is the grinder good enough?
Nothing in the available sources measures grind consistency, particle distribution or grind retention for this model, so a verdict on grinder quality cannot be made from evidence alone. What can be said is that the grinder is integrated and not adjustable in the way a standalone grinder is. If your priority is a grinder that you can tune finely across beans and roast levels, a separate grinder remains the more flexible route, and the EC9335M’s integrated unit will limit that freedom.
The practical test is your own cups. Pull a few shots with the same beans at different grind settings, and judge taste and flow. If you cannot reach the balance you want within the settings the machine provides, the integrated grinder is the limit, not your technique.

Is it easy to use?
Bean & Burr’s review, updated July 20, 2026, describes the machine as designed to hide some fiddly espresso steps. The reviewer says the grinder and tamping assistance can be valuable to beginners, but may be less attractive as a user becomes more experienced. This is one publication’s qualitative judgment, not consensus or test data.

In practice, the guided sequence reduces decisions. You do not need to learn how to level and tamp by hand, which is the most common early stumbling point with espresso. The trade-off is that the same structure removes some of the adjustments that experienced users rely on.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can it make cappuccino or latte?
The machine can produce milk drinks, but the sources do not establish how well. The EC9335M’s milk system is manual, so you texture milk yourself with the Advanced Latte System. The FLAT and FOAM selector positions give you two settings to work with, and you will need some practice to produce consistent microfoam for a cappuccino or a smooth latte. Plan on a learning period, and expect your first attempts to vary.

How it compares with other La Specialista models
The sources reviewed do not give enough model-specific evidence to rank the EC9335M against other La Specialista versions on extraction, milk quality or build. Each model in the range has its own feature list, and specifications from one should not be applied to another. Compare the workflow and control axes: whether the grinder is integrated, whether tamping is assisted, how much milk control you get, and what your local warranty covers. Read the listing for each model you consider.
Who should buy it, and who should not
| Decision factor | What the EC9335M offers | What remains unverified |
|---|---|---|
| Integrated grinder versus separate grinder | One unit, one footprint, no separate grinder purchase | Grind quality and consistency not measured in these sources |
| Assisted tamping versus manual puck preparation | Tamping happens in the filter holder through the Smart Tamping Station | Tamping force and puck uniformity not measured |
| Guided convenience versus fine control | Preset recipes and guided steps | Range of user control beyond the presets not detailed |
| Milk workflow and steaming skill | Manual Advanced Latte System with FLAT and FOAM positions | Milk quality and learning curve not measured |
| Footprint and clearance | 380 × 370 × 445 mm with bean container; maximum cup height 120 mm (Ireland listing) | Clearance under cabinets not assessed |
| Warranty, service and parts | Official support center and maintenance guidance exist | Warranty terms and parts availability vary by market and were not verified |
| Total purchase cost | Not stated | Current price not verified |
The EC9335M fits you if you want fewer separate tools, a structured process, and the ability to make espresso and milk drinks without buying a grinder and tamper. It fits poorly if you already own a good grinder and want to dial in each shot, or if you expect the machine to perform the steaming for you.

De’Longhi’s Ireland product page identifies cleaning topics for the grinder, the Smart Tamping Station, the boiler outlet, and descaling. The US support center links to instructions for the model. Follow the manual for your market, because the cleaning steps and descaling products are specified there. The sources reviewed do not give a descaling schedule, a cleaning chemical, or a service procedure, so do not rely on general guidance for those.
