DeLonghi DD230P Review: Manufacturer Specs, Pump Drainage and Buyer Checks

The DeLonghi DD230P is a compressor dehumidifier whose most distinctive documented feature is a built-in condensate pump with a supplied hose, so it can move water to a drain or sink without a gravity fall. No independent laboratory test or measured field result for this model was available at the time of writing, so this review assesses the feature set and the manufacturer’s published figures. It shows where those figures agree, where they conflict, and what to verify before buying.

What the DD230P is and what sets it apart

The DD230P is sold under the DD Series and marketed as the Tasciugo Ariadry. The De’Longhi UK product page lists the features that matter most to a buyer: a removable tank, a display for humidity and temperature, a washable anti-dust filter, castors for moving the unit, an electronic antifreeze device, and the Heavy Duty Pump System with a supplied hose (De’Longhi UK, Tasciugo Ariadry DD230P).

Of those features, the pump is the one that changes how you can use the machine. A tank-only dehumidifier needs someone to empty it. A pump model can run unattended into a sink, utility drain or external outlet, provided the hose route and lift are within the limits the manufacturer states.

De’Longhi publishes different pages for different markets, and the values do not match one-for-one. The table below keeps each figure attached to its source. “Not stated” means that page does not give the value; it does not mean the value is zero or absent from the product.

The UK figures come from De’Longhi UK, Tasciugo Ariadry DD230P. The UAE technical specification page is at De’Longhi AE, DD230P technical specifications. The Australia and New Zealand parts listing is at De’Longhi Australia spares, DD 230 P (R290), 0148530203. None of these pages states a publication date, so treat each figure as the manufacturer’s current claim for that market rather than a dated measurement.

Do not assume the UAE electrical and noise figures apply in your country. A unit sold for 220–240 V/50 Hz mains will not match a 110–120 V or 60 Hz market, and the rating label on your unit is the reference to use.

How much water it can remove

The headline rating is “up to 30 litres” of moisture removed in 24 hours. The UAE page attaches a condition to that number: 30 L/24 h at 32°C and 80% relative humidity. The UK wording does not state a test condition. Both are manufacturer ratings under stated or unstated conditions, not guarantees for a given room.

In practice, extraction depends on the air temperature, relative humidity, room volume, airflow, how sealed the room is, and how often doors open. A rating taken at 32°C and 80% humidity will not describe a cool, dry basement or a warm, damp bathroom equally well. The built-in humidity display gives you a way to track whether the room is actually moving toward your target, which is more useful than the headline litres figure.

The minimum operating temperature of 2°C is a different kind of claim. The UK page says the electronic antifreeze device allows operation down to that temperature. That describes whether the unit runs in cold conditions, not how much water it removes there.

Condensate drainage: tank, gravity or pump

The DD-series instructions describe three ways to handle condensate. Choose one before you start the machine, because the choice determines how often you need to attend to it.

Removable tank

The default method is to collect water in the removable tank and empty it when full. This needs no hose, but the unit will stop when the tank is full, so it is only suitable if you can empty it regularly. The manual also covers this case directly, recommending continuous draining if the appliance will run for long periods and the tank cannot be emptied regularly.

Continuous gravity drainage

For continuous drainage without a pump, connect a hose to the drain outlet and let water flow downhill. The manual sets two conditions:

  • The free end of the hose must not sit higher than the outlet, or water will not flow.
  • The hose must not kink anywhere along its length, or drainage will stall.

The DD-series manual says: “If the appliance is to be operated for long periods but you are unable to empty the tank regularly, you are recommended to use continuous draining.” Gravity drainage is the simplest option when the unit sits above a floor drain or outlet. If the drain is at floor level or the unit is in a basement, the pump is the option to consider.

Built-in pump and supplied hose

On pump models, the manual describes connecting the pump drain hose and activating the pump. The UK product page describes the Heavy Duty Pump System as able to discharge condensation up to a 5 m level difference, and it lists a 5 m hose.

The manufacturer materials do not agree on that lift figure. A DD-series instruction manual gives a pump head of up to 4 m. That manual is part of the DD Series documentation, and the excerpt available does not confirm that it covers the DD230P in your market. Until you have checked the manual for your unit, do not quote either figure as the lift of your machine. Use the manual that matches your region and model, and confirm the hose route against it.

Two practical points follow. First, the pump’s rated lift is the vertical distance the water must climb, not the length of the hose, so a long horizontal run does not reduce it, but a steep climb does. Second, a pump-equipped unit has a drain route that can fail if the hose kinks or the outlet is blocked, so check the route after installation and periodically thereafter.

Noise, power and airflow

The UAE page gives a noise rating of 54 dBA, input power of 575 W, and airflow of 320 m³/h. These are manufacturer ratings. No independent noise measurement was located for this model, so the 54 dBA figure should be read as a published value, not an observed sound level in a bedroom or living space.

At the rated 575 W input, the electricity cost depends on your tariff and how many hours the unit runs, and neither is established here. The unit weighs 16.3 kg according to the same page, which matters if you plan to move it often. The UK page notes castors, which help with that.

The refrigerant is R290, a hydrocarbon refrigerant (propane). Hydrocarbon refrigerants are flammable, which is why the manual’s clearance requirements matter. The manual says the unit needs clear space in front for the air outlet and space behind for ventilation. Follow the exact clearances in the manual for your product version rather than relying on general guidance.

Filter, parts and maintenance

  • Anti-dust filter: The UK page describes the filter as washable. Wash and dry it according to the manual before refitting.
  • Replacement air filter: The Australia and New Zealand parts listing identifies a replacement air filter for DD 230 P (R290), code 0148530203. Confirm that the code matches your exact model and region before ordering.
  • Instructions and safety documents: The De’Longhi US support center for the DD230P provides instructions and safety warning downloads (De’Longhi US, DD230P support center).

The filter replacement interval, local stock levels and parts compatibility outside the listed variant are not established by the material available. A replacement hose is not separately listed in the material available, so do not assume a third-party hose will fit the supplied connection without checking.

What has not been established

  • No independent laboratory test of moisture removal, and no measured extraction in a real room.
  • No independent noise measurement.
  • No verified long-term reliability or failure-rate data.
  • No energy running cost, current retail price or retailer availability.
  • No comparative ranking against other dehumidifiers.

These gaps mean the review can describe what the machine is designed to do and what the manufacturer claims, but it cannot confirm how well it performs in your home.

Buyer checklist before purchase

  • Confirm the model and region on the rating label against the specification table above.
  • Download the instruction manual for your exact model and check the pump lift and hose length it states.
  • Decide between tank, gravity or pump drainage based on where the water will go, and map the hose route before installation.
  • Check the room’s typical temperature and humidity, since the 30-litre rating reflects specific test conditions.
  • Confirm the clearance space required by the manual for your product version.
  • Check the replacement filter code against your model before you need one.

Some features are straightforward to verify once the unit is in your home, such as the humidity display, the hose route and the filter removal. Others, including real extraction at your typical room conditions, can only be judged by running the unit and tracking the readings over several days.

The Bottom Line

The DD230P is worth considering if you specifically need a dehumidifier with an integrated condensate pump and a supplied hose, because that feature is the main documented reason to choose it. Its 30-litre rating is a manufacturer figure under stated conditions, not an independently measured result. The published pump lift differs between manufacturer materials, so confirm the figure in the manual for your region before you plan the drain route. Buy it if the pump matches your drainage setup and your local model and manual check out.
