The Dell XPS Googlebook is the most convincing Googlebook choice for Android users because its Snapdragon X Elite processor runs Android apps natively, while GooglebookOS connects your phone, notifications and apps to the laptop. It costs $1,199 in the US at launch and combines a 13-inch 2.5K touchscreen with at least 512GB of storage.

What the Dell XPS Googlebook is

The Dell model is one of five launch Googlebooks announced for 2026, alongside systems from HP, Asus, Acer and Lenovo. It uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite, an ARM-based processor, rather than Intel hardware. The chassis includes a 13-inch touchscreen with 2.5K resolution and at least 512GB of storage. Launch models use premium materials, haptic trackpads and backlit keyboards.

GooglebookOS is best understood as ChromeOS deeply fused with Android rather than as a conventional Windows-style laptop operating system. Apps are supplied through Google Play, while Google has built phone features directly into the desktop experience.

Why Android users notice the difference

Native Android app execution

Dell and HP are the two Qualcomm ARM Googlebooks in the launch range. Their ARM chips run Android apps natively. Acer, Asus and Lenovo use Intel processors and a translation layer for Android software.

Google says most Android apps run smoothly on both processor families. However, it also says a small number of complex apps and games may need developer tuning to perform at their best on Intel-based systems because many Android apps were originally designed for Arm. Google has not identified the affected apps, and controlled public testing was limited at launch.

Phone notifications and apps on the laptop

GooglebookOS includes a device hub that can sync notifications from an Android phone and let you open phone apps on the laptop without duplicating the app or signing in again. That makes the Dell particularly suitable for someone who wants messages, alerts and mobile workflows beside desktop documents and browser tabs.

GooglebookOS features beyond Android compatibility

Gemini is built into the interface

Gemini appears throughout GooglebookOS, including through Magic Pointer, system search, summaries, calendar organization and custom widgets. These are operating-system features rather than a separate browser tab, so the assistant is available while you work across apps and windows.

Gemini interactions generally use the cloud. Every launch Googlebook includes one year of Google AI Pro, but continued access may require a paid subscription after that first year. Treat the bundle as a limited ownership benefit, not as a guarantee of free AI service for the life of the computer.

Long support commitment

Google says Googlebooks receive 10 years of support. That is significant for buyers who keep laptops for many years, although the practical value depends on continued app, cloud-service and hardware compatibility.

How it compares with Intel Googlebooks

Consideration Dell/HP Qualcomm ARM Acer/Asus/Lenovo Intel
Android app architecture Native ARM execution Translation layer
Best fit Android-heavy workflows and phone integration Users prioritizing Intel platform availability
Compatibility caveat Native path for Arm-designed apps Most apps work; some complex apps and games may need tuning

The architecture is the key distinction, not a claim that Intel models cannot run Android apps. Google’s own statement is that the vast majority work on both chip types. The Dell’s advantage is reducing the translation step for software designed around Arm.

Battery expectations and what is not established

No long-term independent battery test for the Dell model was available in the launch reports. Do not treat an unverified battery-hour figure as a tested result. Battery life will depend on screen brightness, cellular or Wi-Fi use, Android and web workloads, background Gemini activity and power settings.

Who should buy the Dell XPS Googlebook?

  • Choose it if: you use an Android phone, want its notifications and apps beside your laptop work, and prefer native ARM Android execution.
  • Consider an Intel Googlebook if: your priorities are broader Intel-specific software expectations and Android compatibility is less central.
  • Check before ordering: the exact storage configuration, local price, Google AI Pro renewal terms, regional availability and whether your essential Android games or professional apps are supported.

Verdict

The Dell XPS Googlebook is the clearest Googlebook for Android fans. Its Snapdragon X Elite design aligns with the Arm origins of Android software, while GooglebookOS adds unusually close phone integration and system-level Gemini tools. At $1,199, it sits above the entry point of the lineup, so its value depends on whether those Android and phone features replace enough separate devices and workflows to justify the premium. The native app path is compelling, but buyers should wait for app-specific compatibility information and independent battery testing if those details are decisive.
