As reported on October 5, 2026, Best Buy was selling a Dell XPS 13 configuration with 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD for $799.99, $200 below the stated previous price of $999.99. That makes it a plausible MacBook Neo alternative if you want Windows, but the discount is for that specific configuration—not every XPS 13. A separate 8GB model was reported at $599.99. Prices can change, so check the live listing and confirm its memory and storage before buying.
What the $200 Best Buy discount covers
TechRadar reported on October 5, 2026, that Best Buy had the Dell XPS 13 with 16GB LPDDR5X memory and a 512GB SSD for $799.99, down by $200 from a stated $999.99. Windows Central reported the same 16GB/512GB price and a separate 8GB configuration for $599.99, also $200 below its stated $799.99 previous price. These are US-dollar prices from dated reports; they are not guaranteed current prices and should not be assumed to include taxes.

Other published prices illustrate why it is important to compare the exact configuration and date. WIRED’s review page displayed the 8GB model at $800 and the 16GB model at $1,000 at Dell, and the 16GB model at $1,000 at Best Buy. TechRadar also mentions an $899 launch price, but does not explain how that relates to the $999.99 previous price in its deal report. The available reports do not establish a single continuous list-price history.

How the XPS 13 compares with the MacBook Neo
The clearest distinction is the operating system: the XPS 13 runs Windows, while the MacBook Neo runs macOS. If you depend on Windows software or prefer Windows, the XPS is the more natural fit; if you use Apple’s software and devices, the Neo may fit your existing setup better. The sources do not establish a complete, same-configuration head-to-head test, so the XPS should not be called an across-the-board winner.

TechRadar describes the XPS 13’s design as aluminum and its display as a touchscreen; it also lists Wi-Fi 7. Those may matter if you value a metal chassis, touch input, or newer wireless connectivity. Its two USB-C ports may be limiting if you regularly connect multiple peripherals; a hub or dock is one possible workaround, though no particular accessory was tested in the cited coverage.
Is 8GB enough, or should you choose 16GB?
The lower $599.99 reported price buys the 8GB configuration, not the 16GB/512GB model in the $799.99 headline deal. That distinction matters for multitasking. WIRED’s reviewer found that Windows 11 background activity and browser tabs could use most of the available memory on its 8GB unit, and recommended 16GB for most buyers. That is one reviewer’s experience with a particular configuration, not a universal benchmark; your own workload will determine how noticeable the limitation is.

- Consider 8GB if keeping the upfront cost low matters most and your usual work is light.
- Consider 16GB if you commonly keep many browser tabs and apps open, or want more memory headroom. The cited Best Buy deal for this configuration was $799.99 with a 512GB SSD.
TechRadar says the 16GB memory in the model it covered is not expandable. Choose the configuration you expect to need rather than counting on a later memory upgrade.

Tom’s Guide reported 14 hours and 29 minutes of battery life for its XPS 13 review unit. WIRED reported 15 hours of local video playback in its test. These figures come from different publications and methods, so they are not a direct comparison and should not be treated as guaranteed everyday runtime. The cited sources do not provide a comparable MacBook Neo result for those tests.

Who should consider the XPS 13 deal?
- It is a reasonable option if you want Windows, value the listed 120Hz touchscreen, and can get the 16GB/512GB configuration near the reported $799.99 price.
- The cheaper model may suit you if your workload is light and the reported $599.99 8GB configuration is the one actually listed.
- Look closely at the alternatives if you need more than two USB-C ports, want a direct performance comparison with the MacBook Neo, or are choosing based mainly on battery life. The cited coverage does not settle those comparisons.
Before placing an order, confirm the XPS model, RAM, SSD capacity, seller, current price, and return terms on Best Buy’s live listing. The October 5 reports provide a snapshot of a US deal, not a promise that the offer remains available.
