The 2026 Dell XPS 13 DX13260 is a light, well-built Windows laptop with a sharp touchscreen and strong tested battery life. Its appeal depends on choosing the right configuration: the 8GB model is best for modest workloads, while buyers who multitask heavily should look at 16GB or more. The Core 5 processor and integrated graphics are not aimed at demanding gaming or sustained creator work, so the premium-feeling chassis alone does not make it the right laptop for everyone.
Is the Dell XPS 13 worth buying?
It is worth considering if you want a compact Windows laptop for browsing, office work, video calls, streaming and travel, and you value a touchscreen. Tom’s Hardware reviewed the DX13260 on 20 August 2026, describing its aluminum chassis as premium-feeling and measuring its weight at 2.2 pounds (1 kg). Dell also describes the model as an accessible entry to the XPS line; that is the company’s positioning, not an independent verdict.

The trade-off is capability at the lower price. The tested Intel Series 3 Core 5 320 uses integrated graphics with two Xe cores. Tom’s Hardware found the laptop less suited to gaming beyond lightweight or older titles, and its performance did not consistently match the MacBook Neo in productivity and benchmark tests. For demanding video or graphics work, a more powerful laptop is a better fit.
What the reviewed configurations include
Both Tom’s Hardware review units had a 13.4-inch 2560 × 1600 touchscreen, Intel Core 5 320 (Wildcat Lake), 512GB storage, Windows 11 Home, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, a 52Wh battery and a 65W USB-C adapter. They differed in memory: one had 8GB and the other 16GB. Dell lists broader configuration options, including Core Ultra Series 3 processors, up to 32GB of memory and up to 1TB of storage; the options available depend on configuration and time.

Is 8GB of RAM enough for a laptop?
It can be enough for lighter use, such as a few browser tabs, documents, email and streaming, but it leaves less headroom for many simultaneous apps or demanding work. The 16GB configuration is the more sensible choice if you regularly keep numerous tabs open, use larger spreadsheets, or switch among work applications. Dell lists configurations up to 32GB, though availability varies.

Tom’s Hardware’s 16GB unit was substantially faster than its 8GB unit in a file-transfer test. That result does not isolate memory as the cause: the review units also used different SSD models. Treat it as a difference between those particular laptops, not proof that adding RAM alone produces that speed gain.

What are the display and design like?
The 13.4-inch, 2560 × 1600 touchscreen is a central strength for a small laptop, especially if you prefer tapping or scrolling directly on the screen. Brightness and color figures differ by source: Dell advertises 100% DCI-P3 coverage, while Tom’s Hardware measured roughly 75% DCI-P3 and over 100% sRGB on its sample, with peak brightness just below 400 nits. RTINGS lists a 500 cd/m² panel specification. These are not interchangeable measurements; panel sourcing and individual samples can vary.

- Qualcomm Adreno GPU | Two USB4 40 Gbps USB Type-C ports with DisplayPort and Power Delivery
- Windows 11 PRO | Fingerprint Reader
The aluminum construction and 2.2-pound (1 kg) weight make the XPS 13 easy to carry. Tom’s Hardware found the physical touchpad spacious and functional. It described the keyboard as usable, but somewhat stiff with shallow travel—worth considering if you type for long stretches.
Ports and everyday connections
The laptop has two USB-C ports. Tom’s Hardware reports they support charging and DisplayPort 2.1, but there is no headphone jack. If you use wired headphones, plan on a compatible USB-C adapter or headphones with a USB-C connection. With only two ports, a USB-C hub may also be useful when connecting several accessories at once.

How long does the Dell XPS 13 battery last?
Both configurations tested by Tom’s Hardware exceeded 14 hours in its 2026 battery test. The test combined Wi-Fi-connected web browsing, OpenGL tests and video streaming with the display set to 150 nits. That is a specific review-lab result, not a Dell guarantee or a prediction for every workday; brighter screens, heavier tasks and different wireless use can change runtime.

| Decision point | Favor the XPS 13 when… | Compare the Neo closely when… |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | You need Windows or prefer its software and workflow. | You prefer macOS or rely on Mac-specific apps and services. |
| Screen and input | You want the XPS’s touch display. | You do not need touchscreen input and prefer the Neo’s overall experience. |
| Connections | The reported USB-C capabilities suit your devices; account for the missing headphone jack. | The Neo’s ports and headphone connection better match your accessories. |
| Performance | Your real-world Windows workload runs well on the Core 5 320 configuration you choose. | Your applications favor the Neo’s performance in the tasks you actually do; review comparisons found the XPS behind in some CPU tests. |
| Price | A current XPS price or student offer fits your budget and eligibility. | The Neo offers better value for your preferred configuration and operating system. |
Battery life is useful to compare only when the test conditions and brightness are comparable. Do not assume that runtimes from separate reviews represent the same workload.
When should you choose a larger or more powerful laptop?
If your routine includes demanding video editing, sustained graphics work or modern games, prioritize stronger graphics and performance over the XPS 13’s portability. Tom’s Hardware found the XPS 13 far behind the higher-powered XPS 14 in a video-conversion task. The XPS 14 is a relevant alternative within Dell’s lineup, but it sits in a substantially higher price tier; compare current configurations and prices against the work you need to do.
Quick Recap
- Choose the XPS 13 for everyday productivity, portability and a touchscreen in a compact Windows laptop.
- Choose more memory if your typical workload involves heavy multitasking or memory-hungry applications.
- Look beyond this model for demanding gaming or sustained creator workloads that depend on graphics performance.
