The Dell UltraSharp U3223QE is a strong choice if your priority is a large 4K work screen that can also act as a laptop dock and a shared-peripheral hub. Its 31.5-inch display, USB-C connection with up to 90 W power delivery, Ethernet, USB ports, and KVM support suit multi-device desk setups. The main tradeoffs are a 60 Hz refresh rate and no built-in speakers; its listed color and contrast specifications are not a guarantee of measured performance on every unit.
What the U3223QE offers
Dell specifies a 31.5-inch diagonal IPS Black panel with a native resolution of 3840 × 2160 (4K UHD) and a 60 Hz refresh rate. That gives documents, spreadsheets, and creative applications a spacious, detailed workspace. At this size and resolution, some users may prefer operating-system scaling to make text comfortable to read.

Dell lists brightness of 400 cd/m², a 2000:1 contrast ratio, 100% sRGB, 100% Rec. 709, and 98% DCI-P3. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements of every individual monitor or proof of calibration suitability for a particular color-critical workflow. If accuracy or uniformity is essential, check independent measurements and the requirements of your work before buying.

Pros: where it stands out
A practical dock for a laptop desk
The USB-C connection supports DisplayPort video and up to 90 W of power delivery. With a compatible laptop, one cable can carry the display signal and charge the computer; the monitor’s Ethernet and USB hub can also consolidate desk connections. Check that your laptop supports video over USB-C and that 90 W is enough for its charging needs. Dell’s US specifications and product datasheet describe the connections and power features.

KVM support for switching between computers
Dell’s datasheet lists KVM and Auto KVM functionality. This can let you use a shared keyboard and mouse with more than one connected computer, but it requires the relevant upstream connections and configuration. KVM switches peripherals; it does not turn the monitor into a second display.
A stand that can be adjusted to the desk
Dell lists height, pivot, swivel, and tilt adjustments, giving you more positioning options than a fixed stand.

Cons and limits to weigh
60 Hz is a work-first refresh rate
The 60 Hz ceiling is appropriate for general productivity and casual gaming, but it is not a high-refresh specification. If smooth fast-motion gaming is a priority, compare monitors designed for higher refresh rates.

Dell identifies no built-in speakers. Plan to use external speakers or headphones if you need audio at the desk.

IPS Black is not OLED
Dell lists a 2000:1 contrast ratio. That specification should not be read as OLED-like black performance. PCWorld and TechRadar have published reviews with differing characterizations of the panel, but the available material does not provide equivalent measurements that settle the comparison. See their PCWorld review and TechRadar review; for a firm comparison, look at full independent measurement data rather than a panel label alone.
Price and availability vary by region
Dell’s US product page showed $919.99 and temporary out-of-stock status at the time of the cited snapshot. Its UK page showed £834 including VAT and £695 excluding VAT at that snapshot. These are volatile regional listings, not current or universal price guidance. Check your local listing and compare the monitor’s features with newer alternatives at the price available to you.

Who should choose it—and who should look elsewhere
The U3223QE makes the most sense for a home-office or professional setup that needs a 31.5-inch 4K screen, a USB-C laptop connection with substantial power delivery, a USB/Ethernet hub, and the option to share peripherals between computers. Its listed gamut coverage may also appeal to color-aware general work, though critical color workflows call for independent measurement and calibration checks.
Look at another category if you need high-refresh gaming, built-in speakers, or a lower price than current listings offer. Before deciding, verify your laptop’s USB-C video support and charging requirements, then check the local price and return policy.

What to compare with another 32-inch-class 4K monitor
