Short answer: the Dell Pro 7 14 AMD (P714265) can be configured with AMD’s 12-core Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 470 and Radeon 890M integrated graphics, but Dell’s often-quoted 2.80-pound figure is only the clamshell’s minimum starting weight. It is not a measured weight for every build. The processor’s 5.2 GHz boost specification and 55-NPU-TOPS rating describe the chip, not proven performance in this laptop.
This is a promising lightweight business platform, especially for buyers who need many CPU cores, modern integrated graphics and local AI acceleration. However, no independent test of the HX PRO 470 configuration establishes its benchmark scores, thermals or battery runtime. The only published hands-on review located for this family tested an Intel model, so its battery figures cannot be transferred to the AMD version.

The AMD family is broader than one configuration. Dell’s Brazil product page lists the Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 470, Ryzen AI 9 PRO 465, Ryzen AI 7 PRO 450 and Ryzen AI 5 PRO 435, along with several display and memory combinations. That regional page showed the product as unavailable when accessed, and its options do not prove that every configuration is sold in the United States or elsewhere: Dell Brazil’s P714265 listing.

How much does the Dell Pro 7 14 weigh?
Dell lists 2.80 lb (1.27 kg) as the minimum starting weight for the Pro 7 14 clamshell. “Starting” matters: panel type, touch hardware, battery selection and other components can change the weight of a particular unit. Treat 2.80 lb as the lightest published baseline, not as the measured weight of every Ryzen AI configuration.
When comparing retailer listings, look for the weight of the exact service tag or SKU. A listing that repeats “2.8 pounds” may be quoting Dell’s family-level minimum while selling a heavier screen or a different battery. If carrying weight is your priority, confirm the panel, touch option and battery before ordering.
Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 470 specifications and what they mean
AMD identifies the Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 470 as a Ryzen AI PRO 400 Series processor launched on January 5, 2026. Its published specifications are useful for understanding capability, but they are not a benchmark of the Dell chassis. AMD lists Windows 11, RHEL x86-64 and Ubuntu x86-64 support: AMD’s Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 470 specification page.

CPU capability
Twelve cores and 24 threads give the HX PRO 470 the resources to handle substantial multitasking: large spreadsheets beside video calls, code builds, virtual machines or sustained data work. The 4-core Zen 5 plus 8-core Zen 5c design combines two Zen 5 variants; the specification does not tell you how quickly the laptop will sustain those clocks under a long workload.
The 5.2 GHz number is a maximum boost, normally reached opportunistically on suitable cores and within temperature and power limits. Dell’s cooling design, firmware and selected power profile determine sustained performance. AMD’s 28 W default TDP and 15–54 W configurable range likewise describe the processor’s operating envelope, not a promise that every P714265 runs continuously at 54 W.

Radeon 890M graphics
The HX PRO 470 includes Radeon 890M graphics with 16 graphics cores and a listed frequency of up to 3.1 GHz. This is a substantial integrated-GPU specification for a thin business notebook and should suit office graphics, photo work, accelerated video playback and some less-demanding 3D workloads. There is no independent Dell-specific gaming or creator benchmark in the available evidence, so do not treat the Radeon name or clock as proof of a particular frame rate.
What the 55-TOPS NPU does
The neural processing unit is a separate accelerator for supported AI workloads, such as video-call effects, transcription, image processing and operating-system or application features that are written to use an NPU. “Up to 55 TOPS” is a peak capability rating. It does not mean every AI application will run 55 trillion operations per second, nor does it replace the CPU or GPU for general-purpose work. Actual benefits depend on Windows and application support, model size and whether software can use the NPU efficiently.
Which P714265 configurations are listed?
Dell’s regional listing shows the following processor choices for the P714265 family. The graphics pairings below come from Dell’s Pro 7 product-brochure search result; the brochure PDF itself was not available for inspection, so use those pairings as context and confirm the specification on the order page.
| Processor option listed by Dell | Graphics pairing shown in Dell brochure material |
|---|---|
| Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 470 | Radeon 890M |
| Ryzen AI 9 PRO 465 | Radeon 890M |
| Ryzen AI 7 PRO 450 | Radeon 860M |
| Ryzen AI 5 PRO 435 | Radeon 840M |
The brochure search result is supplementary rather than a substitute for a regional configuration page: Dell Pro 7 13 & 14 product brochure. Dell’s support manual confirms an AMD Ryzen AI 5/7/9 or Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO chipset family, LPDDR5X memory on a quad 32-bit channel bus and PCIe connectivity up to Gen4: Dell’s P714265 setup and specifications manual.
Screen choices: what to check before buying
Dell lists several 14-inch panels, including WUXGA options with different brightness levels, refresh behavior, touch support and color coverage, plus an OLED option. Because the exact combinations vary by region and inventory, choose by the full panel specification rather than by the words “14-inch” or “WUXGA” alone.

For office productivity
A WUXGA panel gives a 1920 × 1200 workspace with the productive 16:10 shape. Check brightness if you work near windows, and check whether the specific panel is touch-enabled before assuming it is. Refresh-rate or variable-refresh support can differ between otherwise similar WUXGA listings.
For color-sensitive work
Color-coverage figures matter more than resolution for photography, design and video. Dell lists WUXGA variants with different color coverage and an OLED choice, but the regional page does not make one universal panel standard for every P714265. Confirm the exact percentage coverage, brightness and refresh specification on your market’s order page.
For comparison with the independent review
The University of Pennsylvania review used an Intel Pro 7 Series 14 with a 2,560 × 1,600, 500-nit display. That higher-resolution panel is not evidence that the AMD HX PRO 470 model has the same screen, brightness or power draw. It is a different tested configuration.
Memory, storage and upgrade expectations
Dell’s Brazil listing includes 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB LPDDR5x choices. LPDDR5X is system memory soldered to the platform in typical thin-laptop designs; the support manual documents the memory bus but does not establish a user-replaceable module path. Treat memory as a purchase-time decision and verify the exact SKU before ordering, particularly if you need 64 GB for virtual machines, large datasets or local AI models.
PCIe up to Gen4 is listed in Dell’s support documentation. Storage capacity and the precise drive configuration are SKU-dependent, so check the order summary rather than inferring them from the processor name.

Ports and connectivity
Dell’s U.S. page lists two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1 and a headset port. That combination supports common office peripherals, external displays and USB-C docking, while retaining full-size USB-A for existing accessories. Confirm regional port details and wireless-module selection on the configuration you are buying; the cited U.S. port list should not be generalized to every market SKU.
Thunderbolt 4 compatibility is useful when you need one-cable docking or fast external storage, but the laptop’s practical multi-monitor limits depend on the selected display outputs, dock and driver support. No particular dock is uniquely required by the evidence available here.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Battery life: what is known and what is not
Dell lists a 70 Wh battery option for the U.S. Pro 7 14 AMD. Capacity is not runtime: screen resolution and brightness, firmware power mode, workload, wireless activity and battery health all affect endurance.
The only independent runtime figures available for this family come from a University of Pennsylvania review published June 22, 2026. Its test unit was an Intel Core Ultra 5 Pro 7 Series 14 with 32 GB of RAM, a 512 GB SSD and a 2,560 × 1,600 500-nit display. That unit recorded a provisional video-based rundown of 10 hours 18 minutes, about 12 hours in light office use and five to six hours under heavy multitasking: University of Pennsylvania review.

Those numbers are not AMD results. The Intel processor, display and test configuration differ from the Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 470 model, so they cannot establish the AMD laptop’s battery life. No AMD-specific runtime or benchmark is established here. A credible review of the HX PRO 470 build would need to identify its display, battery, firmware and power mode, then publish its own repeatable test results.

What the Intel review can—and cannot—tell you
The Penn review is useful evidence that an independent institution examined a Pro 7 Series 14, but its scope must stay attached to the Intel unit. Its observations about video playback, office use and heavy multitasking describe that tested laptop only. They do not validate the HX PRO 470’s CPU performance, Radeon 890M graphics, fan behavior, thermals, keyboard, display quality or battery endurance.
Do not use the Intel review’s 10:18 video result as an AMD buying promise, and do not convert AMD’s processor specifications into a claim that the P714265 is faster than another laptop without a controlled comparison on defined systems.
How to choose the right Dell Pro 7 14 AMD build
- Confirm the processor. Make sure the order says Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 470 if you need the 12-core/24-thread chip and Radeon 890M. Similar-looking Pro 7 listings may use the PRO 465, 450 or 435 instead.
- Select memory for the workload. Choose 16 GB for mainstream office work, 32 GB for heavier multitasking and 64 GB when your applications routinely consume memory. Because LPDDR5x is a configuration-time decision, do not assume a later upgrade.
- Read the complete display line. Record resolution, brightness, refresh or variable-refresh behavior, touch status and color coverage. Choose OLED or a higher-color-coverage panel for image work only after confirming the exact regional specification.
- Verify the battery and weight. Check whether the build includes the 70 Wh option and whether Dell gives a configuration-specific weight. The 2.80 lb figure is only the family minimum.
- Check ports and wireless details. Confirm the two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1 and headset jack for your market, then verify the wireless module and any dock requirements.
- Check availability and price in your country. Dell’s Brazil page lists the HX PRO 470 but showed it unavailable when accessed, while regional inventories change. A processor name on one country’s page does not prove availability or price in another.
Who should buy the HX PRO 470 version?
Good fit
- Professionals who want a light 14-inch business chassis with many CPU threads for office multitasking, development or analysis.
- Users whose software can take advantage of an NPU for supported AI features and who prefer integrated graphics over a discrete-GPU laptop.
- Buyers who need modern connectivity, including Thunderbolt 4 and HDMI 2.1, in a compact system.
Think twice if
- You require guaranteed all-day battery life backed by an AMD-specific test; that evidence is not available here.
- Your work depends on certified discrete graphics performance, high-end 3D rendering or known gaming frame rates.
- You need a particular panel, color gamut or weight and are unwilling to verify the exact SKU.
Bottom line on the Dell Pro 7 14 AMD
The Dell Pro 7 14 AMD is a credible business-laptop platform on paper, and the Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 470 gives the top configuration a strong specification: 12 cores, 24 threads, Radeon 890M integrated graphics and a 55-TOPS NPU rating. Its portability claim is also appealing, provided you understand that 2.80 lb is Dell’s minimum starting weight rather than a universal measurement.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe buying decision turns on configuration discipline. Confirm the exact processor, panel, memory, battery and regional availability, and treat AMD’s figures as specifications until independent testing of that Dell build exists. The Intel review’s battery results provide context about one Pro 7 family member, not a substitute for an AMD-specific test.
