It produced a bright, usable image in Tom’s Hardware’s well-lit office test, but the image looked somewhat flat, and very dark scenes showed grain and artifacts. At Dell’s listed US price of $119.99, its strongest case is for buyers who will use its office and security features—not for image quality alone.
What the Dell Pro 5 WB526 offers
The WB526 captures up to 2560 × 1440 pixels at 30 frames per second, with Full HD also at 30 fps and HD available at 30 or 60 fps. Dell lists a Sony sensor, autofocus, a 78-degree field of view, 2x digital zoom and an f/2.0 maximum aperture. Automatic exposure, scene detection, white balance and DOL-HDR are also part of the specification; these are feature claims, not a guarantee that the camera will outperform other webcams in every room.

Its more office-specific features include AI auto-framing, face tracking, Document View, Gesture Control and Windows Hello compatibility. Dell describes it as its first Windows Hello webcam in its June 10, 2026 launch announcement. The physical lens shutter and security-chain interface add privacy and physical-security options.
How the image looks in real use
In a well-lit office
Tom’s Hardware reviewer Sarah Jacobsson Purewal found the image bright and even in a dedicated, well-lit setup, and suitable for office calls. She also described it as somewhat flat and slightly washed out. Those are observations from that review’s test conditions, not a measured result that will apply identically to every display, room or camera setup.

In very dark or backlit scenes
In an almost-dark test, the reviewer saw more detail than she expected from many 1080p webcams, but moving video was grainy and showed visible artifacts. HDR did not appear to make a significant difference in that test. With backlighting, the reviewer found color balancing less successful than on the older Dell WB5023 and Elgato Neo. The review does not establish a universal ranking across lighting conditions.
Dell Display and Peripheral Manager provides image controls and toggles for features such as HDR, auto exposure, face tracking, Gesture Control, Windows Hello and Document View. In the reviewer’s tests, changing image controls seemed to have little effect. Document View and framing features may still be useful workflows for some users, but they are not evidence of better image quality.

Microphone, mounting and privacy
Dell specifies an omnidirectional microphone with a maximum range of approximately 3 meters. In Tom’s Hardware’s review, speech was intelligible, but the microphone was not considered good enough as a primary mic. Treat it as a convenience for calls rather than a substitute for a dedicated microphone when audio quality matters.
The camera has a detachable magnetic monitor mount and a fixed, non-detachable 1.5-meter cable. Dell lists support for monitors up to 1.81 inches (4.6 cm) thick. The reviewer found the cable stiff enough to move the lightweight webcam when bumped, which can disturb framing. A physical lens shutter is included, and a security chain is listed in the box.

Compatibility and what comes in the box
Dell lists compatibility with Windows 11 64-bit, Windows 11 on ARM and macOS 14 or later. The wired connection is USB-C; a USB-A converter is included. Listed meeting platforms include Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, GoToMeeting, Cisco Webex, Adobe Connect, Amazon Chime, Lark and Tencent. Compatibility listings do not replace checking that a particular feature works in your operating system and conferencing setup.
Dell lists a three-year limited hardware warranty with Advanced Exchange Service; service terms and availability vary by country. The box contents listed by Dell are:

Price and whether the WB526 is worth it
Dell’s US product page lists the WB526 at $119.99, and Dell stated the same US availability price in its June 10, 2026 launch announcement. Tom’s Hardware’s review, published September 13, 2026, recorded a $119.99 MSRP and a $114.99 sale price at review time; that sale observation is not a guaranteed current offer. Check the live listing before buying.

The review cited the Elgato Neo at a $60 retail price (and said it could be found for less) and the Razer Kiyo X as a $100 retail 2K alternative, with a lower sale observation. Those are review-time price references, not current quotes. The reviewer’s conclusion was that cheaper webcams can offer similar quality; no broader head-to-head testing is established here.

The WB526 makes the most sense when you specifically value Windows Hello, document sharing or gesture and framing controls, along with a physical shutter and security-chain interface. If your main goal is a good-looking video call, weigh its price against how it performs in your actual lighting, the resolution and frame-rate modes you need, microphone requirements, and the fixed cable and mount design. Its listed features may justify the premium for an office workflow, but the review does not show that image quality alone does.
WB526 versus WB5023: avoid the model mix-up
The Dell Pro 5 Webcam 2K is model WB526. It is not the older Dell Pro Webcam WB5023, which also uses 2K in its branding. Check the model number when comparing specifications or shopping; Tom’s Hardware’s specific color-balancing comparison to the WB5023 was made under that review’s test conditions.
