The Dell Pro 14 Plus Portable Monitor (P1425) is a compact second screen for laptops and other devices that can output video over USB-C. Its 14-inch, 16:10, 1920×1200 display gives you more vertical workspace than a 1080p 16:9 panel of the same size, and its built-in stand and power pass-through suit a travel desk. The trade-offs are important: it runs at 60Hz, has no touchscreen, and accepts video only over USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode—not HDMI.
What the P1425 offers
The P1425 is a 14-inch IPS LCD with a 1920×1200 WUXGA resolution, 16:10 aspect ratio and 60Hz refresh rate. Dell specifies 162 pixels per inch. That taller-than-16:9 shape is useful for documents, web pages and side-by-side work, while the compact size makes it easier to carry than a full-size desktop monitor.

Dell rates the panel at 400 cd/m² typical brightness, 1500:1 typical contrast, 100% sRGB coverage and 16.7 million colors. These are manufacturer specifications, not independently verified measurements. Tom’s Hardware reported measuring 100.6% sRGB and 71.3% DCI-P3 on its tested unit in 2025; those figures describe that review’s colorimeter result and should not be treated as a guarantee for every P1425.

Dell specifies a 7ms gray-to-gray response time. That figure alone does not establish gaming performance. The 60Hz refresh rate and limited inputs matter more for many gaming setups.

Will it connect to your laptop, phone or console?
Check video output support before buying. Both of the P1425’s connections are USB-C with DisplayPort 1.2 Alt Mode; the monitor has no HDMI input. A USB-C-shaped port on a host device is not sufficient by itself: the port must support video output. Consult the computer or phone manufacturer’s specifications for that capability.
- Laptop: Connect a USB-C port that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode. The included 1m USB-C-to-USB-C cable can be used for this connection.
- Phone: It can work only if the phone supports USB-C video output; confirm that feature for the exact model.
- HDMI-only source or console: There is no direct HDMI connection. RTINGS’ September 18, 2026 review says the USB-C-only inputs make the P1425 unsuitable for console gaming. Do not assume an adapter will solve the problem without confirming that it supports the required video conversion and works with your source.
The display supports up to 1920×1200 at 60Hz. It is not a high-refresh-rate gaming screen, and it has no touchscreen.

How power pass-through works
The monitor has two USB-C ports and supports power pass-through up to 65W, according to Dell. This is a maximum capability, not a promise that every charger-and-laptop combination will supply 65W to the computer. The actual result depends on the connected host and power source. Dell includes one 1m USB-C cable; whether you need any additional power equipment depends on your existing setup.
Stand, orientation and portability
The built-in adjustable stand tilts from 10° to 90°, and Dell specifies portrait orientation with auto-rotation. That flexibility helps the display fit a small desk or a vertical-document workflow without a separate stand. Dell gives its weight as about 1.25 lb without cables and about 1.36 lb with cables; those figures are not the same as a weight stated with the stand included.

For travel, the 14-inch panel and integrated stand are practical advantages. The screen is still an extra item to pack, and its USB-C video requirement means it is best suited to a compatible laptop rather than a mixed collection of HDMI sources.
Image quality and review evidence
On paper, 400 cd/m² typical brightness and 1500:1 typical contrast are strong specifications for a portable LCD, but they are Dell’s claims rather than independent measurements. Dell’s product page also reproduces a PCMag assessment describing it as the brightest non-OLED portable monitor that publication had tested and praising its contrast and color accuracy; Dell displays a 4/5 rating alongside the quotation. That is PCMag’s attributed assessment, not a test conducted here.

RTINGS published a review on September 18, 2026, noting the 16:10 1920×1200 screen, adjustable stand and up-to-65W USB-C pass-through, as well as the lack of touch. RTINGS also notes that its portable-monitor methodology does not include every test used for standard desktop displays, so its results should not be read as a comprehensive desktop-monitor comparison.
Price, warranty and buying advice
As of October 7, 2026, Dell’s U.S. listing showed different prices—$259.99 and $244.99—across product-page variants, and stock language could vary. Those are dated U.S. listing figures, not a stable or universal price. Check your regional Dell listing for the exact P1425 model, current price and availability before ordering.

Consider the P1425 if you want a portable productivity display with a taller 16:10 workspace, an integrated tilt stand and USB-C power pass-through, and your host can send video over USB-C. Look elsewhere if you need HDMI inputs, touch, or a refresh rate above 60Hz. The available review evidence does not establish a sufficiently matched competitor-spec set for a ranked alternative recommendation.
