The Dell 15.6-inch DC15250 with an Intel Core 3 100U, 8GB DDR5 memory, a 512GB SSD and Windows 11 Home was reported on October 7, 2026 at $419.99 for Amazon Prime members, a 30% cut from a $599.99 list price. That offer was described as U.S.-only and was expected to run for about ten more hours. As of October 9, 2026, that window has passed, so the “next few hours” wording in the original headline no longer describes a live deal. The laptop itself is a reasonable budget option to consider for school work, but the discount should not be the reason you buy it.
What the deal was, and when it ended
Neowin published its report on October 7, 2026 at 16:42 EDT. It said the $419.99 price was exclusive to Amazon Prime members, applied only in the United States, and would end roughly ten hours after publication. Those terms were the publisher’s account of the offer at the time. Neither the Amazon listing’s current price nor its seller, stock level or Prime eligibility has been independently confirmed for this article.

Two numbers are worth keeping apart. The $599.99 figure is the list price Neowin used to calculate the 30% reduction. Dell’s own U.S. product page showed $599.99 for this configuration as of October 9, 2026. That is Dell’s price, not a record of what Amazon charged, so it does not show that the Amazon discount ever existed beyond the window Neowin described.

“DC15250” is a model family, not one fixed machine. Dell’s owner manual lists several processor and display options under the same name, so a listing that says “DC15250” alone is not enough to know which unit you would receive.
Configuration variants in Dell’s owner manual
Dell’s official manual documents the following variation within the DC15250 family. Only the processor names and the battery sizes are stated in the source; other cells are marked where the manual does not give a value.

The 54Wh battery appears only as a family option. Nothing in the deal coverage establishes that the discounted unit has it, so do not assume longer runtime from the family listing.

Is it a good student laptop?
Neowin positioned the machine for everyday tasks and school work. That is a reasonable use for a Core 3-class processor with 8GB of memory and a 512GB drive, and the storage capacity is ample for documents, course files and browser use. Those specifications, however, are the only evidence available for this article. No independent test of student workloads, battery life, display quality or long-term value was found, so the phrase “great for students” is a promotional description, not a verified verdict.
