DeepCool’s June 2024 ASSASSIN IV VC VISION is a large dual-tower air cooler with a vapor-chamber base, seven heat pipes, two fans and a built-in monitoring display. It has no pump, radiator or liquid loop. DeepCool’s “up to 300 W” rating and the idea of “AIO-like performance” are manufacturer positioning, not a guarantee that it will beat every liquid cooler.
The vapor chamber may improve heat distribution across the CPU contact area, especially on modern chips with concentrated hot spots. Heat still ultimately leaves through fin stacks and fans, so case airflow, CPU power limits, mounting and ambient temperature remain decisive.

How the vapor chamber works
A vapor chamber is essentially a flattened heat pipe built into the cooler’s base. Its internal fluid and wick structure move heat laterally before the attached heat pipes carry it into the fin towers:
- Heat enters the chamber through the CPU cold plate.
- The working fluid vaporizes over the hottest area.
- Vapor spreads across the chamber to cooler regions.
- It condenses and releases heat.
- The wick returns liquid to the hot area.
- Seven copper heat pipes transfer that distributed heat into the two fin stacks.
That is a heat-spreading improvement, not an extra source of cooling. The fans still move room air through the fins and the case must exhaust the warmed air. A vapor chamber can make more of the heat-pipe array useful when a CPU’s hotspot is concentrated, but it cannot remove the air-side limits imposed by fin area, fan speed, airflow and ambient temperature.

(Note: Installation on AMD platforms requires using the motherboard's original backplate, which is not included with this product.)
Why it may help modern CPUs
Contemporary CPUs can produce substantial heat in a relatively small die or chiplet region. A conventional base may load some heat pipes more heavily than others. Lateral spreading can reduce that imbalance, lower local hot spots and use more of the fin-stack area.
The benefit is most plausible during sustained, high-power work such as rendering, compilation or stress testing. Short desktop bursts may show little difference. Actual results depend on:
- CPU package layout and socket contact
- Mounting pressure and thermal paste
- Motherboard power limits and BIOS behavior
- Fan curves and case airflow
- Ambient temperature
- Whether the workload is bursty or continuous

The 172-mm height is the most important fit warning. Check the case’s stated CPU-cooler clearance; “standard ATX” does not guarantee that a side panel, motherboard standoffs or fan position will leave enough room. Also check the top PCIe slot, VRM heatsinks, M.2 covers and DIMM height. The front and rear fan arrangement is relocatable, but moving a fan changes memory clearance and total height.

The VISION display can show CPU temperature, usage, wattage and frequency. It connects to an internal USB 2.0 header and requires DeepCool software. Temperature colors are green below 80°C, orange from 80°C to 90°C, and red/flashing above 90°C. DeepCool notes that readings can lag slightly because of polling intervals, system configuration and hardware variation. The display is a convenience feature, not evidence of better thermal performance; it also consumes a motherboard header and adds software dependence.

What “300 W TDP” does—and does not—mean
DeepCool rates the ASSASSIN IV VC VISION for up to 300 W, as it does the ASSASSIN VC ELITE. That is a manufacturer capacity claim, not a standardized benchmark. CPU vendors’ TDP figures do not equal package power in every workload, and cooler makers may use different test methods.
Read the claim as: DeepCool rates this cooler for up to 300 W, but that does not guarantee that every 300-W processor will remain cool, quiet or at maximum boost indefinitely. Motherboards that remove Intel or AMD power limits can push sustained package power far beyond nominal settings.

Does it really perform like an AIO?
Thermal performance
A large dual-tower air cooler can compete with some 240-mm AIOs when the CPU is within its practical range, the case airflow is good and the liquid cooler uses conservative pump or fan settings. A 280- or 360-mm AIO has more radiator area and can retain an advantage at high sustained power, particularly with aggressive settings.

“AIO-like performance” should therefore be treated as a claim requiring controlled, same-platform testing—not as an automatic property of a vapor chamber.
Noise
An air cooler has fan turbulence; an AIO has radiator-fan noise, pump noise and sometimes resonance. Which is quieter depends on fan curves, pump quality, mounting and the case. Neither category is automatically silent.
Reliability
Air cooling removes the pump and liquid loop, avoiding pump failure, coolant permeation or evaporation and leakage as system-level failure modes. Its fans remain mechanical wear items, and the sealed vapor chamber is not indestructible. The realistic advantage is fewer active components and no liquid circuit, not zero failure risk.

Which type of buyer should choose it?
Choose a vapor-chamber air cooler when
- You want to avoid pump and liquid-loop failure modes.
- Your case supports a 157–172-mm tower.
- You need strong sustained cooling without radiator installation.
- You value a long warranty and replaceable fans.
Choose a conventional high-end air cooler when
- Price and simplicity matter more than the newest base design.
- Independent testing shows little advantage at your CPU’s power level.
- You need a shorter, lighter or narrower cooler.
- You want no proprietary display software.
Choose an AIO when
- Your case supports a suitable radiator.
- You run a high-power CPU under long sustained loads.
- You need more thermal headroom than a practical air cooler provides.
- You accept pump noise, pump-failure risk and liquid-loop maintenance.
Availability and buying checks
An official product page does not prove current retail stock. Tom’s Hardware’s coverage of the related ASSASSIN VC ELITE highlighted difficult U.S. availability and listed no MSRP: review and market context. Check your region’s retailer stock, warranty route and return policy before designing a build around any of these coolers. No current official street price was established for the VISION, Elite or AK700 pages.
Before ordering, confirm the exact socket bracket, case clearance, RAM height, top-slot and VRM clearance, available USB 2.0 header and your motherboard’s sustained power settings. Treat the 300-W figure as a ceiling claim, not an operating target.
Bottom line
The ASSASSIN IV VC VISION is a sophisticated air cooler: its vapor chamber can spread concentrated CPU heat more effectively before seven heat pipes feed the dual towers. That makes competition with some 240-mm AIOs plausible, but it does not erase the radiator-area advantage of larger liquid coolers or guarantee lower temperatures and noise. Its practical strengths are the absence of a pump and liquid loop, a six-year warranty and useful monitoring; its liabilities are 172-mm height, nearly 1.8-kg mass, a USB/software requirement and uncertain regional availability. Buy it when independent results, case fit, CPU power and local support all make sense—not simply because “AIO-like” appears in the headline.
