Deadlock reached a reported peak of 228,086 concurrent Steam players on September 30, 2026, according to Beebom’s report citing SteamDB. Valve, meanwhile, says the game remains unfinished and in active development. The player figure is third-party reporting—not a statistic published by Valve—and the surge does not signal an announced release date.
How many people are playing Deadlock?
Beebom reported that Deadlock peaked at 228,086 concurrent Steam players on September 30, 2026, citing SteamDB. That is a reported peak of players online at the same time, not a total-player count or a figure Valve published. Because concurrent-player numbers change over time, the number describes that reported date rather than the game’s current audience. Beebom’s report is the source for the figure.

Why does Valve say Deadlock is unfinished?
Valve’s September 29, 2026 Steam post describes Deadlock as a multiplayer game in early development. Valve says early access lets players try the game while the team is still shaping it, helping identify what works and what does not. The company wrote that building a multiplayer game is “very hard and risky,” and that getting it into players’ hands early is a way to reduce that risk through feedback.

Valve also said it wants to keep working on the core game before turning to later polish, pointing to older hero artwork as an example of work that can come afterward. The game’s unfinished status is therefore part of the development approach Valve described, not an announcement that a launch is imminent.

By contrast, Valve called major item redesigns or additions and alternate game modes speculative, saying whether they happen depends on playtesting. It also said older hero remodels would likely be introduced gradually in future updates alongside other work. Those are possibilities, not guarantees.
