Baba is best understood by what her kit asks you to do: build a conditional Spirit-damage window, use movement and melee to disrupt close-range fights, and choose among rotating area effects. Her long-channel ultimate adds a high-commitment slow-and-hex sequence. No current source establishes one hero as her definitive closest match or best replacement, so compare picks by damage, mobility, utility, and commitment—not by an unsupported ranking.
What Baba does in a match
Baba was reported unlocked on October 6, 2026, by Deadlock Labs. Her kit blends Spirit damage and Spirit theft with bullet follow-up, movement, melee disruption, rotating area utility, and a channelled single-target ultimate. The ability figures below are reported by the secondary overview deadlock.one, published October 7, 2026; they are not independent tests and may change with patches.

Threadsap: setup-dependent Spirit and bullet damage
Threadsap sends a thread along the crosshair path, dealing Spirit damage and stealing enemy Spirit Power. While Baba holds stolen Spirit Power, her bullets deal bonus Spirit damage. The overview lists a 35 m range, 50 damage, a 26-second cooldown, and up to 45 Spirit stolen. The bullet bonus is conditional: it is not a permanent passive.

Granny Long Legs increases movement speed, jump height, debuff resistance, and melee resistance. Its light melee knocks targets back; its heavy melee launches and slows them while dealing Spirit damage. The overview lists +5 m/s movement speed, +30% debuff resistance, and +30% melee resistance for the ability’s duration. The mobility can help Baba reposition, while the melee effects require her to interact at close range.

Baba’s Brew: an area effect whose outcome cycles
Baba’s Brew creates an area effect that cycles among a soothing barrier, a silence, and a scalding damage-over-time brew that also reduces Spirit resistance. It can therefore serve different defensive, control, or damage purposes, but the outcome depends on the brew state when applied. The overview lists a 6 m base radius and a 25-second cooldown. It also says the player can pause or resume brewing; the published material does not establish a specific timing strategy.
Feed The Birds: slow into a channelled hex
Feed The Birds covers a target in bread during a channel, applying stacking slow. When the channel ends, pigeons deal Spirit damage and hex the target into a pigeon. The overview lists a 6.5-second channel, up to 450 base damage, and a 150-second cooldown. Those costs make it a substantial commitment for a control effect. Available evidence does not establish how often it can be interrupted, evaded, or successfully completed in live matches.

Baba’s strengths and weaknesses
Where her kit can be valuable
- Layered damage: Threadsap combines Spirit damage and Spirit theft, then can support bonus Spirit damage from bullets while the stolen power is held.
- Mobility with disruption: Granny Long Legs adds movement and jump options alongside knockback, launch, and slow effects on melee.
- Flexible area utility: Baba’s Brew can provide a barrier, silence, or damage with reduced Spirit resistance, depending on its cycle.
- Single-target control: Feed The Birds builds slow before ending in a hex, if the channel completes.
What to weigh before picking her
- Damage has setup conditions: The bonus bullet damage from Threadsap lasts while Baba holds stolen Spirit Power; the overview does not describe it as always active.
- The ultimate takes time and has a long listed cooldown: Its 6.5-second channel and 150-second cooldown make commitment a meaningful part of the choice. Practical interruption and hit rates are not established.
- Brew is not a fixed response: Its three outcomes cycle, so the desired utility may not be the current one.
How to compare Baba with similar heroes
There is no reliable, current direct comparison in the cited material that identifies a closest hero or a universal best alternative. Use these axes to compare Baba with a candidate whose current kit you have verified:

| Mobility and range | Movement tools, jumps, ability reach, and whether the hero must enter close range. | Granny Long Legs adds movement speed and higher jumps; its melee effects involve close-range interaction. |
| Team control and utility | Access to silence, slow, hex, protection, or area coverage, and whether those effects are available on demand. | Brew cycles among barrier, silence, and damage; Feed The Birds applies stacking slow and then a hex after channeling. |
| Commitment and reliability | Channel length, cooldown, setup, and evidence about whether opponents can avoid or interrupt the effect. | Feed The Birds has a listed 6.5-second channel and 150-second cooldown; actual interruption and hit rates are not established. |
Do not infer that a hero is Baba’s closest match from an analytics matchup table alone. Such tables show observed outcomes, not that a pairing caused them; the available rank-filtered sample is also small.

What early win-rate numbers do—and do not—say
The two available snapshots cover different populations and should not be averaged or read as a head-to-head comparison.
| Source and date accessed | Reported result | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Deadlock Labs, October 7, 2026 | 41.6% win rate across 15,870 matches, all ranks. | A third-party, volatile snapshot. The page cautions that new heroes often start lower and rise as players learn them. |
| Deadlock API, October 7, 2026 | 36.8% win rate across 76 Phantom 1+ matches; 0.1% pick rate in its current season/rank filter. | A much smaller sample from a different rank population; it is not directly comparable to the all-rank figure. |
Because Baba is new and these figures are third-party snapshots from unlike populations, neither establishes her settled strength, a best pick, or a counter. The Deadlock API teammate and opponent tables are observational as well; their small filtered sample does not prove synergy or a counter relationship.

Which players should consider Baba?
Baba is a reasonable pick to explore if you want Spirit-based damage that can feed into weapon follow-up, movement and melee disruption, and area utility that shifts between protection and offense. She is a less straightforward fit if you want consistently available damage or an ultimate with little channel commitment. To choose between her and another hero, verify that hero’s current abilities and compare them on the same axes rather than assuming a named substitute is equivalent.
