No. The Blood Ravens will not be the only Space Marines you command in Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV. The Dark Angels are a playable Space Marine sub-faction, and the Space Marines campaign includes missions with both Chapters. They are not a fifth core faction: the four announced core factions are Space Marines, Orks, Necrons and Adeptus Mechanicus.
How the Dark Angels fit into Dawn of War IV
In its 30 September 2026 update, Warhammer Community revealed the Dark Angels alongside Captain Cyrus and the Blood Ravens in a new faction trailer. Deep Silver’s official game page describes the Dark Angels as a playable sub-faction and says players will command both Chapters in different Space Marines campaign missions.

That distinction matters: Space Marines remain one of the game’s four core factions, while Blood Ravens and Dark Angels are Chapters within that faction. The other three core factions are Orks, Necrons and Adeptus Mechanicus; the latter is making its series debut.
Blood Ravens and Dark Angels in the campaign
The game returns to Kronus, where the factions’ competing aims converge. Blood Ravens Captain Cyrus and Chief Librarian Jonah Orion feature in the story. The Dark Angels are represented by Company Master Astoran and Chaplain Ezrael. Adeptus Mechanicus seek lost knowledge and artifacts, rival Ork Warbosses struggle for power, and the Necrons emerge to reclaim the world. The campaign was co-written by Black Library author John French, according to Warhammer Community’s story-trailer coverage.
#1 Best Overall
| Chapter | Named figures in official story material | What is confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Blood Ravens | Captain Cyrus; Chief Librarian Jonah Orion | Players command them in some Space Marines campaign missions. |
| Dark Angels | Company Master Astoran; Chaplain Ezrael | They are a playable Space Marine sub-faction, featured in other campaign missions. |
The reveal also shows a bike-mounted Chaplain and Deathwing Terminators. Those are examples highlighted in the trailer, not confirmation of every unit available to either Chapter or of a complete roster difference. Official information establishes that both Chapters appear as playable campaign choices; it does not establish comparative multiplayer strength, balance or a tested head-to-head advantage.
What is confirmed about the campaign and modes
Warhammer Community advertises more than 70 campaign missions, playable solo or with a friend. That is the publisher’s announced mission count, not a measure of campaign completion time. Official materials also list competitive multiplayer, Skirmish and Last Stand. The advertised co-op detail specifically applies to the campaign.

Release date and platform
The latest official announcement, dated 30 September 2026, gives 3 December 2026 as the release date. Commander Edition access begins three days earlier, on 30 November. Deep Silver’s FAQ lists Steam for Windows PC as the platform.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsSearch results may show an earlier date: a PLAION FAQ still lists 17 September 2026 and early access on 14 September. That conflicts with the later 30 September announcement and Deep Silver’s current game page, which give the December dates. For the current schedule, the newer official information is the relevant one.
