What is included in the Darksiders collection?
Valve’s Steam listing for the Ultimate Edition bundle includes four games: Darksiders Warmastered Edition, Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition, Darksiders III Deluxe Edition and Darksiders Genesis, along with digital extras. A separate Blades & Whip bundle is described on the Warmastered store page as containing Warmastered, Deathinitive Edition and Darksiders III Deluxe Edition. Those bundle names matter when you are checking a purchase: the four-game Ultimate Edition and the three-game Blades & Whip package do not have the same contents.

Darksiders Genesis is a prequel in the series’ chronology. Steam describes it as giving players their first look at the world of Darksiders before the events of the original game. Darksiders III follows Fury as she hunts the Seven Deadly Sins on an apocalyptic Earth; Steam classifies it as a hack-and-slash action adventure.

The specifications below are the Windows requirements published on the games’ Steam pages. They are hardware floors and targets, not a promise of a particular frame rate, resolution, graphics preset or loading time. The cited storage figures come from Valve’s 2026 listings.

Warmastered Edition
Warmastered has a 4 GB RAM minimum and a dual-core processor floor. Its graphics requirement is a DirectX 10-level AMD or NVIDIA card with 1 GB of VRAM, while the recommended target moves to a quad-core CPU and a DirectX 11-level GPU with the same 1 GB VRAM figure. At 36 GB, it also has the largest listed install footprint in the collection, despite not having the most demanding graphics specification.
Deathinitive Edition
Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition has the lowest listed graphics bar: a 512 MB GeForce 9800 GT or equivalent and DirectX 9.0c. The minimum processor is a 2.0 GHz Core 2 Duo or AMD equivalent, with 4 GB of RAM; the recommended configuration is a quad-core CPU and 8 GB of RAM with a GTX 260-class card. Its 13 GB storage requirement is the smallest of the four.
Darksiders III
Darksiders III is the clear hardware step-up. The minimum specification already calls for an FX-8320 or i5-4690K, 8 GB of RAM and a 2 GB GTX 660/R7 370-class GPU. The recommended target doubles memory to 16 GB and specifies a 4 GB RX 480 or GTX 970-class card. If one computer must run every game in the collection, this is the specification to design around.

Darksiders Genesis
Darksiders Genesis shares the same listed processor family as Darksiders III but asks for only 4 GB of RAM at minimum and 8 GB recommended. Its graphics floor is a GTX 960, with a GTX 1060 as the recommended class. The game needs 15 GB of storage.

Which Darksiders game is hardest to run?
Darksiders III is the most demanding entry by the published requirements. It is the only game with an 8 GB minimum memory requirement, and it is the only one whose recommended memory target is 16 GB. Its minimum GPU also requires 2 GB of VRAM, while its recommended GPU class requires 4 GB. The other games list 4 GB RAM minimum and 8 GB recommended, with lower or older GPU classes.
That comparison is about requirements, not a measured benchmark. The store pages do not provide a dated, independent frame-rate test, and a minimum specification does not identify the settings or resolution you will need to use. A newer low-power laptop GPU can outperform an older desktop card with a similar name, so compare your actual model rather than relying on the age of the computer or the amount of system RAM alone.
How much storage should you reserve?
The four listed install sizes add up to 89 GB: 36 GB for Warmastered, 13 GB for Deathinitive Edition, 25 GB for Darksiders III and 15 GB for Genesis. That is the total of the published game requirements, not a guarantee that a single download will occupy exactly that amount after updates, language files, shader caches or Steam’s temporary installation files.

If you are installing the complete collection at once, do not treat 89 GB as a comfortable free-space target. Steam may need temporary room while unpacking files, and the operating system also needs free space for normal operation. Install one game first if your drive is close to full, then add the others after confirming the remaining capacity.

Steam Deck compatibility by game
Valve reviews Steam Deck games and assigns compatibility categories that are shown in the Steam library or store. Those labels can change as the game, SteamOS or Proton evolves. They should be read separately from the Windows hardware table: a Deck badge describes Valve’s compatibility assessment, not a Windows-style GPU equivalence.

Deathinitive Edition: the clearest Verified result
Deathinitive Edition is the only entry in the supplied listings with an explicit individual “Steam Deck Compatibility — Verified” label. That is stronger evidence than inferring compatibility from its old Windows requirements, because the badge reflects Valve’s Deck review process.
Warmastered Edition: Verified listing with a caveat
Warmastered appears in Valve’s current THQ Nordic Steam Deck Verified Games bundle listing. Steam support also exposes a community guide specifically called “FIX cutscene skipping on Steam Deck.” The two facts are not contradictory: a game can carry a Verified designation while a subset of users still encounters a practical issue that needs a workaround. Check the current community guidance if cinematics skip or fail to play.
Genesis: listed in the Verified bundle
Genesis appears in the same Valve Verified Games bundle listing as Warmastered. The supplied official page does not provide a universal Proton version or a single launch option that every Deck owner must use, so leave Steam’s default configuration in place unless your own installation reports a problem.

Darksiders III: verify before buying for Deck
The reviewed official Darksiders III page does not show an individual Deck compatibility badge. That does not prove the game is incompatible; it means the rating was not exposed on that page at the time it was checked. Open the live store page on the device or in a browser and read the current badge before purchasing specifically for Steam Deck.

- Identify your hardware. In Windows, open Settings, choose System and About to see the processor and installed memory. Open Task Manager, select Performance, and note the exact GPU model and dedicated video memory. Use the full model name, not just “Intel graphics” or “GeForce.”
- Check the graphics API. Press
Win+R, enterdxdiag, and inspect the System and Display tabs. The listings call for DirectX 9.0c, DirectX 10-level or DirectX 11-level hardware depending on the game. A modern DirectX installation does not automatically make an old integrated GPU equivalent to a dedicated card, so compare the model as well. - Compare against the hardest target first. For one machine running all four games, compare your CPU, RAM and GPU with the Darksiders III minimum and recommended rows. If your computer clears Darksiders III, it also clears the lower published memory and GPU floors of the other entries on paper.
- Check the drive. Confirm at least the individual game’s listed storage requirement, or 89 GB for all four, plus working room for Steam and Windows. If the drive is nearly full, install in stages.
- Check the live store page. The listed operating systems are Windows 7/8/10, and several entries specify 64-bit Windows. Current Windows releases and driver behavior can differ from those historical listings, so use the present Steam page and your current GPU driver as the final compatibility check.
Installing and testing the games on Steam Deck
- Open the game’s current Steam store page. Read the Deck compatibility badge for the exact title and edition you intend to install. Do not assume that a bundle’s badge answers the status of every game inside it, particularly for Darksiders III.
- Install from your Library. Select the title, choose Install, and pick the internal drive or a compatible microSD card with enough free space for the listed requirement and Steam’s temporary files.
- Launch with Steam’s default settings first. The available sources do not establish one Proton release or one universal launch configuration for the collection. Starting with Valve’s default removes unnecessary variables.
- Test a representative session. Start a new game, move through an area, load a save and watch a cutscene. A title can launch successfully yet still expose issues during video playback, controller input or scene transitions.
- Record the exact symptom. Note whether the game crashes, hangs at a loading screen, skips cinematics, loses audio or shows a control problem. That detail determines whether a Steam update, a community workaround or a store-page status change is relevant.
Common pitfalls and practical fixes
Confusing minimum requirements with a performance promise
A computer that matches a minimum row may start the game without delivering the experience you want. The listings do not specify a guaranteed frame rate, resolution or quality preset. Use the recommended row when you want more headroom, especially for Darksiders III, and adjust resolution or visual settings only after confirming that the game is stable.
Using system RAM as a substitute for VRAM
The tables distinguish system memory from graphics memory. Darksiders III asks for 8 GB of system RAM and a 2 GB graphics card at minimum; adding RAM cannot turn a GPU with insufficient dedicated VRAM into the listed class. Check the GPU’s dedicated memory in Task Manager or the manufacturer’s specification.

Assuming every collection title has the same Deck rating
Steam Deck status is assigned and displayed at the game level. Deathinitive has an explicit Verified label, Warmastered and Genesis appear in Valve’s Verified bundle listing, and the reviewed Darksiders III page does not expose an individual badge. Recheck the live listing rather than extrapolating from another title.
Ignoring cutscene behavior
Warmastered’s Steam support area surfaces a community guide for cutscene skipping on Deck. If the game plays but cinematics jump ahead or fail, look for that exact guide title and follow its current steps instead of changing random Proton settings. The existence of a guide is a troubleshooting signal, not evidence that every Deck installation has the problem.
Expecting one Proton configuration to cover all four games
The cited official pages do not identify a single Proton version or launch option that is universal for the collection. Proton behavior can change with SteamOS updates and game patches. Apply a workaround only when you have a reproducible symptom, and remove it if a later update resolves the issue.
Which edition should you plan for?
If your priority is the complete series package, the Ultimate Edition listing is the one that includes all four games and digital extras. If you only want the original trilogy entries represented by the Blades & Whip bundle, its listed contents are Warmastered, Deathinitive Edition and Darksiders III Deluxe Edition; Genesis is not part of that three-game description.
For PC planning, target Darksiders III’s recommended class, reserve more than the 89 GB combined listing for a full installation, and verify that your GPU has the required dedicated VRAM. For Deck planning, use the current per-game badge: Deathinitive is explicitly Verified, Warmastered and Genesis are represented in Valve’s Verified bundle listing, and Darksiders III requires a live-page check because its individual status was not shown on the reviewed page.
