The game is unreleased and currently marked “Coming soon” on Steam, where players can add it to a wishlist. A Kickstarter campaign is planned for early 2027, but no release date or funding result has been announced.
What Myths from the Maw is
Myths from the Maw sends a mercenary band into the Maw, a colossal starfallen fortress. Expeditions combine rival warbands, eldritch creatures, traps and corruption systems in a hostile, replay-focused setting. Half Human Games is both developer and publisher; the studio previously developed Dwerve.

Founder Percy Legendre IV described the project as “basically our love letter to Dante’s Inferno.” The game’s central idea is that power has a price: “In the Maw, every choice costs something, and you carry it with you.”

Corruption changes characters, not just statistics
Corruption can rise through blood sacrifices, killing enemies, narrative decisions and failed checks. Sacrifices to alien gods may grant immediate power, but they also increase the moral and mechanical burden carried by the mercenary company.
High corruption can create sinful traits that affect story events, campsite activities and battles. Announced examples include:

- Hopeless characters: may flee.
- Greedy characters: may steal.
- Prideful characters: may disobey orders.
- Gluttonous characters: may consume supplies automatically.
This makes corruption an ongoing management problem rather than a meter that only affects the ending of an expedition. A decision that helps the party now may make future behavior less predictable.
Defection can create future enemies
Characters who succumb to sin can abandon the company and join the Cult of the Maw. Later expeditions may allow players to confront those former allies. The announced defection system gives campaign decisions a persistent consequence: losing a mercenary can also add a named opponent to a future run.
Classes, races and equipment builds
Announcement materials cite 12 races and 20 classes, with examples including Shadow Knight, Sword Dancer and Witch Hunter. Equipment is intended to drive further customization.

Roguelike expeditions and permadeath
Myths from the Maw is designed around repeat expeditions. The announced structure includes procedural dungeons, randomized loot and abilities, replay-focused runs and meaningful permadeath. Those systems suggest that party composition and risk management will matter across a campaign, not only within a single battle.
Because no hands-on build or review is available, the practical balance between randomness, recovery and permanent loss has not yet been demonstrated. The announced design does establish that death and expedition failure are intended to carry lasting weight.
