Danaher announced on October 14, 2026, a collaboration with NVIDIA to connect scientific instruments, laboratory automation, workflow software and experimental data with accelerated computing and AI. It is a partnership announcement—not a finished product launch—with the first work focused on a select group of priority instruments whose identities and rollout date have not been disclosed.
What Danaher and NVIDIA announced
Danaher plans to combine its scientific-instrument portfolio, automation technologies, laboratory-workflow software and scientific domain expertise with NVIDIA computing and AI technologies. The stated goal is to shorten the path from an AI-generated prediction to experimental evidence.

The proposed model is a continuous feedback loop: experiments produce data, data updates or tests models, and models help researchers choose the next experiment. That approach is often called connected science or “lab-in-the-loop” science because instruments are part of the computational system rather than isolated devices.
Danaher President and Chief Executive Officer Julie Sawyer Montgomery said, “AI is reshaping how science is conducted, and Danaher is at the forefront of that transformation.” NVIDIA Vice President of Healthcare Kimberly Powell described the objective as “a continuous loop between AI and experimentation.”

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
How the lab-in-the-loop model is intended to work
- Capture experimental results. Instruments and laboratory software generate measurements, process information and workflow context.
- Analyze data close to the instrument or in accelerated infrastructure. Computing resources can process large datasets and run analytics or inference with less manual transfer between systems.
- Use models to propose or prioritize work. Scientific-reasoning systems and foundation models could help interpret results, identify promising conditions or suggest follow-up experiments.
- Run the next experiment. Automation technologies would help translate an approved plan into instrument actions or laboratory workflow steps.
- Feed the new evidence back into the models. Each completed experiment provides additional data for the next decision.
This is the operating concept described by the announcement, not a claim that Danaher instruments already perform every step without human approval. Powell said the industry is entering an era in which “the trinity of AI, agents and instruments” could scale discovery, but Danaher has not announced autonomous operation for a particular instrument.
Technologies named in the collaboration
| Technology | Stated or indicated role | What has not been disclosed |
|---|---|---|
| NVIDIA DGX Spark | Edge-computing platform named for the work, potentially placing accelerated AI processing nearer to instruments or laboratory systems. | The specific Danaher instruments, configurations and deployment sites are not stated. |
| NVIDIA RAPIDS | Accelerated analytics and data processing for scientific and laboratory datasets. | No benchmark, throughput figure or validated laboratory improvement is provided. |
| Real-time inference | Running trained models while experimental workflows are in progress, allowing results to inform decisions more quickly. | Inference latency, supported models and production availability are not stated. |
| BioNeMo Open Models | Scientific foundation-model technology that could support biological or pharmaceutical reasoning and prediction tasks. | The models, training data, validation results and Danaher use cases are not identified. |
| Cosmos world models | An area the companies are exploring for more intelligent instruments and laboratory workflows. | No Cosmos-based instrument or workflow has been announced. |
| Omniverse Digital Twins | An exploration area for representing instruments, processes or laboratory environments digitally so workflows can be modeled or optimized. | No digital-twin deployment, customer, schedule or measured benefit is stated. |
What this could mean for laboratories
If the integration reaches production, laboratories could spend less time moving data manually between instruments, analysis tools and planning systems. A model might identify a useful experimental branch while the current run is still being processed, and connected automation could reduce handoffs between analysis and execution.

The value depends on more than computing speed. Instruments must produce well-structured, traceable data; software must preserve metadata and laboratory context; models must be validated for the relevant scientific task; and workflows need controls for safety, quality and human approval. Danaher says customer choice in models, standards and technology providers will be preserved, which suggests the partnership is not being presented as a requirement to adopt one closed model or software stack.
For laboratory managers, the near-term question is therefore integration readiness rather than whether an instrument suddenly becomes autonomous. Existing data standards, application-programming interfaces, audit trails, access controls and automation capabilities will determine how easily an organization can participate in an AI-assisted workflow.

What is known about the first phase
- The initial effort covers a select group of priority instruments.
- Danaher has not identified those instruments in the announcement.
- The companies have not published a rollout timetable.
- Expansion across a broader Danaher portfolio is described as a possibility, not a commitment.
- No commercial product, product name, customer deployment or pricing has been announced.
- Statements about scope, timing, capabilities, deployment and benefits are forward-looking and depend on execution.
Those limits matter because an integration announcement does not establish that a laboratory can buy or enable these capabilities today. Availability will depend on later product releases, validation and local regulatory or quality requirements.
How this compares with another NVIDIA laboratory collaboration
Thermo Fisher announced a separate strategic collaboration with NVIDIA on January 12, 2026. Its release also named DGX Spark, NeMo and BioNeMo and described connecting instruments, laboratory infrastructure, data and AI software. The publicly described scope differs in emphasis, so the following comparison records only what each announcement states.

Will Danaher instruments become autonomous?
Not on the evidence currently available. The announcement describes an effort to make instruments and workflows more intelligent and connected, but it does not promise fully autonomous instruments. Human review, laboratory quality systems and domain expertise remain essential until specific products document what decisions software can make, what actions automation can take and how exceptions are handled.
