Daily Red on daily-red.com is a free browser Pokémon battle, not a word-guessing game. You choose a move or switch Pokémon; there is no text-answer field to fill in. The official page says JavaScript is required to run the battle. If the page loads but controls do nothing, reload it, test the game in another current browser, and temporarily disable script-blocking extensions as a diagnostic check. Those checks can isolate a browser problem, but Daily Red does not publish an error-specific fix or confirm a particular cause.
First, identify what is supposed to happen
The wording “accepting guesses” points to a mismatch between the game you expect and the current Daily Red interface. On daily-red.com, each daily challenge presents a Pokémon battle. Your available actions are battle controls such as selecting a move or switching Pokémon. The site does not describe a word-entry guessing mechanic, so looking for a box in which to type an answer will make a working page appear broken.

Record the exact symptom—blank page, endless loading, or visible controls that do not respond—before trying several changes at once. That makes it possible to tell whether a browser change altered the behavior.

Follow the troubleshooting sequence
1. Confirm the address and the interaction
- Open
daily-red.com, rather than a page for the archived GitHub project or an unrelated game with a similar name. - Look for the Pokémon battle view and its move and switch actions.
- Do not wait for a word puzzle or type a hidden answer; the official site describes battle decisions instead.
If the wrong project is open, browser fixes will not make its controls match daily-red.com. Close duplicate tabs so that you are testing one implementation at a time.
2. Allow JavaScript for the site
The official Daily Red page states: “Daily Red needs JavaScript to run the battle.” A browser that blocks scripts can still display part of the page while leaving the battle blank, stuck, or nonresponsive.
- Open your browser’s site-permission settings for
daily-red.com. - Set JavaScript to allow (or the equivalent setting in that browser).
- Return to the page and perform a full reload.
- Check whether the battle controls now render and respond.
The wording on the official page establishes JavaScript as a requirement; it does not identify every other reason a battle might fail.

Use the browser reload control after changing the script permission. If the page was open while a permission or extension setting changed, the existing tab may not reflect the new state. Start a fresh load and wait for the battle interface to appear before selecting an action.

If a battle was already in progress, avoid opening several copies of the game while diagnosing it. The site says an interrupted battle waits for you to continue, and progress is saved in the browser. Multiple tabs can make it unclear which tab contains the current state.
4. Compare another current browser
Open daily-red.com in a second up-to-date browser. This is a comparison test, not an official Daily Red repair procedure:
- If the game works in the second browser, the first browser’s settings, extensions, stored site data, or compatibility are possible contributors.
- If both browsers show the same blank, loading, or nonresponsive behavior, the result does not prove a site outage; it only shows that the symptom is reproducible across those browsers.
- If neither browser can load the page, note the time and exact symptom before seeking help, because the site does not publish an error-specific support workflow.
Use current browser releases for the comparison so that an obsolete engine is not mistaken for a Daily Red requirement.

Privacy, content-filtering, and script-blocking extensions can prevent a browser game from executing its battle code. Disable them only long enough to test the page, then restore your normal protection.

- Open the browser’s extensions or add-ons panel.
- Turn off extensions that block JavaScript or page scripts for the test.
- Reload daily-red.com.
- Try one move or switch action.
- Re-enable the extensions and, if the game stopped working again, use the extension’s site-specific allowlist rather than leaving protection disabled globally.
A change in behavior identifies an interaction between the browser and an extension; it does not establish that the extension is the only possible cause.
6. Check cookies and local storage when the page loads but state is wrong
General browser-game support guidance commonly recommends allowing cookies and local storage when a game cannot retain state. This is general troubleshooting context, not a checklist published by Daily Red itself.
- Make sure your browser is not blocking all site storage for daily-red.com.
- If you use automatic “clear data on exit” settings, understand that they can remove locally saved progress when the browser closes.
- After changing a storage setting, reload the page and check whether the same battle state appears.
Do not clear the site’s stored data as a first step if you want to preserve an interrupted battle or streak. Clearing storage can remove browser-saved progress, and the official site does not promise that progress will synchronize to another browser or device.
7. Test one control and classify the result
Once the page is visible, select one displayed move or switch action. Then classify what happened:

- The action works: the earlier symptom may have been a transient load or browser-state problem. Continue the battle normally.
- The control highlights but the battle does not advance: reload, repeat the test in another browser, and check script-blocking extensions.
- The control does nothing at all: verify JavaScript permission again and perform the extension comparison.
- The page becomes blank or resets: record that exact behavior rather than assuming it is an account problem; Daily Red says no account is needed.
These branches describe observations and diagnostic choices. The current site does not publish a verified cause for any one control-failure symptom.

One official battle per day
The site provides one official battle each day. A player who expects to start another official run immediately may interpret the daily limit as a missing or disabled game. Practice runs are unlimited and do not affect the streak.
The team changes at midnight in your time zone
A new team unlocks at midnight in the player’s local time zone. If the lineup has not changed when you expect it to, check whether local midnight has actually passed rather than treating the unchanged team as a failed load.
An interrupted battle can be continued
The official rules say a battle left midway waits for the player to continue. Reopening the page is therefore different from starting a new daily challenge. Look for the saved battle state after reloading before attempting practice or another tab.
Progress is stored in the browser
Daily Red says progress is saved in the browser. That means you should not promise that a streak or unfinished battle will appear automatically on a different browser or device. Switching browsers is useful for diagnosis, but it can show a different local state.
Do not apply instructions for the similarly named GitHub project
Daily-red.com describes itself as an independent version inspired by the original GitHub project and says it has its own battle engine. The repository identified as amoi-builds/dailyred documents a separate FireRed/emulator experience that is built and launched locally. Its instructions are not a troubleshooting manual for the browser game.
The repository was archived on October 11, 2026. That archive status further separates its maintenance and launch assumptions from the current daily-red.com service. If a guide tells you to build a ROM, configure an emulator, or run local project files, you are following instructions for that other implementation—not fixing a missing JavaScript battle on daily-red.com.

A compact decision path
- Wrong interaction? Confirm that you are on daily-red.com and choose a displayed move or switch action rather than entering a word.
- Blank or stuck page? Allow JavaScript, reload, and try another current browser.
- Controls visible but ignored? Reload, disable script-blocking extensions temporarily, and repeat the action test.
- State or streak missing? Check the same browser’s stored data and remember that progress is browser-local.
- Still failing? Record the page state, browser names and versions, whether extensions were disabled, and the time of the attempt. The site does not publish a confirmed diagnosis or error-specific recovery procedure, so avoid presenting a guess as an official fix.
What a successful check looks like
- The daily-red.com page displays the Pokémon battle rather than a word-answer form.
- JavaScript is allowed for the site.
- The battle controls appear after a reload.
- At least one move or switch action produces a response.
- Your daily, practice, or interrupted-battle state is checked in the same browser that stored it.
If those conditions are met, the original “guesses” problem was an interaction mismatch or a browser-side loading issue rather than a missing guessing feature. If they are not, the documented facts support further browser comparison and symptom reporting, not a claim that a particular fix is guaranteed.
