Strategy proposed moving four U.S.-listed preferred securities to a daily schedule, but the proposal was still awaiting a shareholder vote in the September 25, 2026 preliminary proxy. Its predicted effects on volatility, liquidity and product adoption are issuer expectations—not established results.
What Strategy proposed—and what was still undecided
Strategy’s September 25, 2026 preliminary proxy describes changing dividend mechanics for STRC (Stretch), STRF (Strife), STRK (Strike) and STRD (Stride). Under the proposal, dividends would accrue on calendar days, including weekends and public holidays, and be paid on the next business day. The filing described STRC’s existing schedule as semi-monthly and the other three securities’ schedules as quarterly. The shareholder decision was scheduled for October 28, 2026; the proposal was therefore pending at the time of the filing. Strategy’s SEC preliminary proxy

The proposed change increases the number of record dates from 15 to 365 or 366 for STRC, and from four quarterly dates to 365 or 366 for STRF, STRK and STRD, according to Strategy’s presentation. A leap year has 366 calendar days. These are changes to the schedule; they do not, by themselves, establish a higher annual dividend or a better investment return.
Strategy illustrated calculating daily amounts from an annual rate and stated amount, allocating the semi-monthly amount across the calendar days in each half-month period and adjusting for rounding. That illustration is not a substitute for the final security terms: the governing documents determine the actual calculation and rights. Check the definitive proxy and subsequent vote results before treating the proposal as implemented.

Daily accrual is not the same as a daily deposit
“Daily dividend” can describe when a dividend accrues, when it is paid, or both. Strategy’s proposal separates those events: calendar days count for accrual, but cash is paid on the next business day. A weekend or holiday can therefore count toward the accrual without producing a separate payment that day.
Another issuer’s schedule shows why “daily” is not a uniform product feature. Strive’s SEC-filed May 2026 presentation describes SATA dividends paid on business days, with the monthly amount recalculated according to the number of business days in that month. Its example uses a $100 stated amount, a 13% annual rate and a 22-business-day month to illustrate approximately $0.04924 per share per business day. What more frequent dividends may change
Cash availability and reinvestment
More frequent payments can make cash available sooner for spending or reinvestment than a less frequent schedule. The value of that timing depends on the actual payment dates, rate, reinvestment opportunities, taxes, fees and security price. Receiving dividends more often does not mean that every investor automatically compounds them daily: the investor must receive and reinvest available cash, and the security’s documents set the accrual and payment terms.

Strategy argues that quicker access to cash could reduce reinvestment lag and potentially improve returns. That is the issuer’s rationale, not proof that changing payment frequency raises realized returns for holders.

Price movements and liquidity
Strategy’s September 2026 proxy presentation says STRC’s ex-dividend price decline was about 49 basis points under a monthly schedule and about 36 basis points after the move to semi-monthly payments. Strategy argues that distributing accrued dividends more evenly could further reduce large ex-dividend price moves and support liquidity. The figures are management’s comparison; the filing does not establish that cadence alone caused the difference. It also cannot demonstrate the outcome of a daily schedule that had not yet been observed for these securities.
In a presentation transcript filed with the SEC, Strategy Executive Chairman Michael Saylor described dampening volatility and improving liquidity as hoped-for effects of the proposed change. Possible fit for funds and digital products
Strategy materials describe possible uses of STRC in funds, ETFs or ETPs, tokenized products, stablecoin-like products and cash or yield accounts. Strive’s presentation likewise lists funds, yield-bearing tokens, tokenization and structured notes as potential downstream uses. The issuers’ argument is that frequent, predictable cash flows may be easier to fit into products with frequent accrual, net asset value calculations or settlement.
These are potential use cases, not evidence of broad adoption, regulatory approval or the safety of a product built around a preferred security. The underlying instrument and each intermediary product have their own terms and risks.

Why payment frequency is not total return
Dividend frequency is one cash-flow feature, not a standalone measure of yield or total return. A holder’s outcome also depends on the security’s stated economics and terms, market price, whether dividends are paid as expected, and the value and timing of any reinvestment. A more frequent payment can affect when cash is available; it does not by itself establish that the investor receives more over a year or earns a higher total return.
Strategy frames its preferred securities as part of a larger capital structure involving Bitcoin, dollar reserves, debt, preferred stock and common equity. In a company article, Saylor describes STRC as designed for dollar income and lower price volatility than MSTR equity, while acknowledging reliance on capital, liquidity, seniority and active management.
