If your Dacast-powered YouTube stream keeps disconnecting, first check whether the Dacast preview drops too. Dacast Simulcast forwards an existing encoder live channel to YouTube: your encoder sends video to Dacast, then Dacast sends it to YouTube. If both views fail, investigate the encoder-to-Dacast connection; if Dacast stays live while YouTube goes offline, focus on the Simulcast destination, its credentials, eligibility and credits. A common Dacast-specific setup risk is a changed ingest URL after adding a Simulcast destination.
How Dacast Simulcast reaches YouTube
In this setup, the encoder normally sends the live feed to Dacast. Dacast remains the origin and Simulcast forwards that existing encoder channel to YouTube using the destination’s YouTube ingest URL and stream key. It is therefore useful to treat the broadcast as two links: encoder to Dacast, then Dacast to YouTube. See Dacast’s Simulcast documentation.
Dacast documents Simulcast for encoder live channels, not HLS-ingest or VOD Rebroadcast channels. The account also needs Simulcast credits. Dacast’s API documentation notes that a newly added or removed destination may not appear in the destination list immediately; check again after a short interval if the list looks stale or empty.
Locate the failing link before changing settings
- Watch both checkpoints during the same test. Open the Dacast preview and YouTube Live Control Room while the stream is running. Dacast recommends checking the preview and destination together; see its multi-destination setup guide.
- If the Dacast preview also drops, start with the encoder-to-Dacast path: the channel’s current ingest URL, encoder output and status, and the local network.
- If Dacast remains live but YouTube drops, investigate the Simulcast destination, YouTube URL and key, channel eligibility, and available credits.
- Note the time and exact symptoms. Check YouTube stream-health messages and encoder logs around the drop. Without those details and the account configuration, there is no reliable way to identify one cause for every disconnect.
Check Dacast’s current ingest URL first
Dacast warns that the encoder ingest destination URL changes when a multistream destination is configured. If disconnects began after adding, removing or changing YouTube Simulcast, open the channel’s current Encoder Setup in Dacast and compare that URL with the one saved in the encoder. Replace any old value with the current channel URL. Do not copy an ingest URL from another channel: Dacast’s Create Stream reference says the returned ingest host varies by region.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
This is a particularly relevant check when YouTube says it is receiving no data or the Dacast preview is also affected. A stored URL can become obsolete even though the encoder configuration has not otherwise changed.
Verify the YouTube destination and stream key
In the Dacast Simulcast destination, check that the YouTube ingest URL and stream key are current and belong to the intended live event. If YouTube reports an encoder startup or authentication error, YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance recommends getting a fresh key in Live Control Room and updating the saved configuration.

Refreshing a key is a targeted response to a key or startup error, not a universal fix for a stream that starts successfully and disconnects later. For a midstream drop, continue checking the encoder, network and stream-health details.
Confirm Dacast Simulcast eligibility and credits
Make sure the selected Dacast channel is an encoder live channel and that the account has Simulcast credits. Dacast documents a 403 response when credits run out. If you have just changed a destination and it is missing from the displayed list, wait briefly and check again before treating the missing entry as proof that the setup failed.

Measure upload capacity and compare encoder settings
Check outgoing upload, not just download speed. YouTube recommends leaving 20% headroom above the total outgoing bitrate, and notes that shared office traffic can reduce the bandwidth available to an individual connection. It also warns that a connectivity disruption can break a stream. Test upload under conditions similar to the actual broadcast, including other users and devices likely to be online. If capacity is tight, lower the encoder bitrate or resolution, or reduce competing traffic. See YouTube’s streaming tips.
For H.264, YouTube’s published bitrate recommendations include 10 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps and 17 Mbps for 1080p at 60 fps. These are YouTube ingestion recommendations, not Dacast-specific requirements; use the row matching your actual resolution and frame rate, and stay within the upload capacity you can sustain. YouTube also recommends CBR encoding, RTMP or RTMPS, and a two-second keyframe interval, with intervals no longer than four seconds. Refer to YouTube’s current stream-setting guidance and select a quality your connection can reliably deliver.

Inspect encoder and source health
- Update the encoder software and check its output for errors.
- Watch CPU load and other signs that the computer is struggling to encode the selected resolution and frame rate.
- Check a local recording, if available, to see whether the source itself has gaps or quality problems.
- If encoder output looks poor, investigate the source or encoder. If it looks healthy while the destination fails, focus on outbound connectivity and the Dacast-to-YouTube path.
- Try another encoder only as a diagnostic when evidence points to a local encoder problem; switching software is not an established general fix.
YouTube’s encoder troubleshooting guidance distinguishes poor encoder output from a healthy encoder feed with a likely network issue.

A technically stable feed can still be interrupted by enforcement. Check YouTube Studio for copyright or Community Guidelines notices. YouTube says a live stream may be temporarily interrupted or terminated if third-party content remains after a warning, or if a relevant strike applies. Review YouTube’s copyright guidance and any notice attached to the affected stream rather than assuming every offline event is a network failure.

Use viewer reports to tell a stream problem from a local one
Ask whether the failure affects viewers on separate networks or only people using one shared network. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance says reports across different viewer networks can point toward an encoder problem, while a problem confined to one shared network can implicate that network. Compare reports with the Dacast preview and YouTube stream-health information before changing the broadcast setup.
Prepare the next broadcast to catch drops early
- Set up the encoder at least two hours before the event and start it at least 15 minutes before airtime, as YouTube recommends.
- Check the Dacast preview and YouTube destination before the audience is expected.
- Test representative motion and audio, and watch YouTube’s stream-health messages.
- Verify that local archive files are growing if you are recording locally.
- Check access from mobile and from the channel or watch page.
- Test failover by stopping the primary encoder or disconnecting its Ethernet cable, if you have a failover setup and can safely run the test before airtime.
- Monitor audio and video quality during the event, and stop the encoder after ending the event on YouTube.
These checks follow YouTube’s live streaming tips.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep a YouTube channel live 24/7 with uploaded videos rather than broadcast a camera feed, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the uploaded videos from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. The video streams as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; StreamNeo also automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.
