Indeed data reported by Business Standard on October 7, 2026 shows clicks on SOC Analyst postings up 225% over the latest 12 months compared with the preceding 12 months. In the same comparison, SOC Analyst postings fell 8%. The figures point to growing jobseeker attention alongside uneven employer posting activity—not a 225% hiring boom.
What the 225% increase measures
The 225% figure is the increase in clicks on SOC Analyst job postings, which Indeed treats as a measure of jobseeker interest. It is not a count of people hired, new positions created, or vacancies filled. The report compares the latest 12 months with the preceding 12 months but does not give the exact dates, sample size, or detailed definitions for each job category.

Are cybersecurity jobs actually increasing in India?
The reported posting activity is mixed. Privacy/Data Protection postings rose 18% and Cybersecurity Analyst postings rose 9%, while Security Engineer postings slipped about 1% and SOC Analyst postings fell 8%. That is a more modest and uneven picture than the click increases alone suggest.
Indeed India Talent Strategy Advisor Rohan Sylvester said: “More people are looking at cybersecurity as a career, but the opportunities aren’t growing at the same pace across every specialisation. For jobseekers, it is useful to understand the skills employers are looking for.” The data supports that distinction: strong interest can signal attention to a career path without showing that employers are adding roles at a comparable rate.
Which skills appear in cybersecurity postings?
Business Standard’s account of Indeed data lists these skills among those appearing in relevant cybersecurity job postings:
| Skill | Share of relevant postings |
|---|---|
| Firewall | 19.6% |
| ISO 27001 | 17.5% |
| SIEM | 15.2% |
| Network Security | 12% |
| Vulnerability Assessment | 11.6% |
These are frequencies in the postings covered by the report, not a ranked list of skills that guarantees an interview or job. Candidates can use them to guide learning, then check current listings for the specific role and experience level they want.

Why practical experience matters
The Data Security Council of India’s Indian Cyber Security Skilling Landscape 2025–2026 reports that 63% of enterprises and 59% of providers say candidates have limited hands-on practical skills. Those are findings from the DSCI report, not a survey of every Indian employer, but they underline why being able to demonstrate applied work can complement knowledge of tools and standards.
Practical preparation might include documenting a small SIEM investigation, explaining how you would assess a vulnerability, or showing a lab exercise in network security. Keep the work accurate and within authorized environments; a course or certificate by itself is not evidence of a hiring outcome.

DSCI also reports that 73% of cybersecurity providers say client demand for AI and GenAI security services is growing. Separately, ISC2’s September 2026 article on India’s cybersecurity workforce describes AI as the most in-demand cybersecurity skill and a source of productivity gains. These findings provide context for emerging skills, but they are not forecasts of how many jobs will open or proof that every role requires AI expertise.

How to use the figures when choosing a path
- Separate attention from opportunity: compare click interest with posting activity rather than treating one as a proxy for the other.
- Look at the work behind the title: listings may emphasize different combinations of firewall, ISO 27001, SIEM, network security, and vulnerability assessment skills.
- Build evidence of applied ability: use safe labs or authorized projects to show how you approach tasks relevant to the role.
- Check current local listings: the reported data does not identify city-level demand, entry-level openings, salaries, or employer-specific requirements.
