Short answer: Cyberpunk 2077’s base-game finale has four ways to launch the final assault, including a hidden solo route. The decisive choice in Mikoshi determines whether V keeps their body or Johnny does. Phantom Liberty adds four broad outcome branches; two can unlock a separate ending, The Tower. Spoilers ahead: the routes and their major outcomes are described below.
How many endings does Cyberpunk 2077 have?
It depends on what you count. At Nocturne OP55N1, the base game offers the Arasaka route, the Aldecaldos route, the Rogue/Johnny route, and a hidden solo assault. Those are ways through the finale, not four completely separate answers to what happens to V: the Mikoshi decision creates the main Sun, Star, and Temperance outcome families, while the Arasaka route has its own ending and final offer. Route variations also affect who is involved and how the epilogue plays out.

Phantom Liberty is optional. Its four broad outcome branches change the fates of Songbird, Reed, and Alex; two can also open The Tower, a distinct conclusion for V. The expansion does not automatically replace or complete the base-game ending.

| Route | How to reach it | Broad outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Arasaka / Devil | Choose Hanako’s plan at the rooftop meeting in Nocturne OP55N1. | The finale centers on Arasaka’s offer and an orbital-clinic aftermath. Its final offer gives this route a distinct resolution. |
| Aldecaldos / Star | Complete the Aldecaldos questline, then ask Panam’s people for help at the rooftop. | V goes through the assault with the nomads. The Star epilogue is the route associated with leaving Night City with the Aldecaldos. |
| Rogue / Johnny / Sun or Temperance | At the rooftop, ask Rogue for help; Johnny takes control for the assault. | This Afterlife assault leads to the Sun or Temperance outcome family, depending on the later Mikoshi decision. |
| Hidden solo assault / Sun or Temperance | Unlock the secret option through a particular exchange with Johnny during Chippin’ In, then choose the solo assault at the rooftop. | This is a separate way to launch the Afterlife assault. Its later body decision leads to the Sun or Temperance outcome family. |
The ending names and route descriptions above follow the current-version route coverage in RPG Site’s ending guide. They describe broad outcomes rather than every epilogue scene.
How to unlock the base-game routes
Arasaka route
At the rooftop decision during Nocturne OP55N1, accept Hanako’s plan. This option is the direct Arasaka route; it does not require the Aldecaldos or Rogue questlines.
Aldecaldos route
Build the relationship with Panam and the Aldecaldos by completing their questline before the point of no return. At the rooftop, ask them for help. If their route is not available, the relevant questline or relationship-building is incomplete.

Rogue route
Choose to ask Rogue for help at the rooftop. Johnny takes control for this assault, putting the finale on the Afterlife/Rogue path.
Hidden solo route
The hidden option depends on a specific conversation with Johnny during Chippin’ In. It is not reliably described as a simple relationship-percentage threshold: the dialogue choice matters. If the solo option is absent at the rooftop, it was not unlocked earlier, and choosing different dialogue there will not create it. See RPG Site’s route guide for route-specific unlock details.
Make a manual save before meeting Hanako at Embers if you want to compare finale routes. The rooftop is the point of no return for the base-game finale, so a separate save gives you a way to revisit that decision.

What changes at Mikoshi?
After the assault, the key choice is whether V returns to their body or gives it to Johnny. That decision shapes the Sun, Star, and Temperance outcome families: V’s relationship to the body changes, as does the emotional direction of the epilogue. The assault route also determines the path and people involved before that choice. On the Arasaka route, the ending remains centered on Arasaka and its offer rather than following the same epilogue pattern.
There is no objectively best ending. If your priority is leaving Night City with the Aldecaldos, pursue their route; if you want Johnny’s path or the hidden solo assault, those options depend on their own rooftop prerequisites. The consequences are personal and narrative, not a universal ranking of outcomes.

The expansion’s central branch happens during Firestarter: side with Songbird to help her escape, or side with Reed to help capture her. That choice changes the subsequent main job and the later resolution options. The broad branches below distinguish Songbird’s route from the outcomes available later; exact prompts can differ by route and localization, so use the mission and decision logic rather than relying on one quoted dialogue line.

| Firestarter choice and follow-up | Late decision | Broad consequence |
|---|---|---|
| Side with Songbird; continue into The Killing Moon. | Help Songbird escape, or hand her over to Reed. | The choice resolves whether Songbird escapes or is captured and affects Reed and Alex. Handing Songbird over in this Reed-aligned resolution can open the route to The Tower if you later accept Reed’s treatment offer. |
| Side with Reed; continue into Somewhat Damaged. | Honor Songbird’s wish to die, or refuse and hand her over to Reed. | The choice changes Songbird’s fate and Reed’s outcome. Handing her over can open the route to The Tower if you later accept Reed’s treatment offer. |
Those are the four broad expansion outcomes: two possible late resolutions on each Firestarter branch. They are Phantom Liberty character outcomes, not four additional versions of the base-game finale. The expansion’s official page describes it as a separate spy-thriller adventure within Cyberpunk 2077: CD Projekt Red’s Phantom Liberty page.
How to reach The Tower
The Tower is available only after handing Songbird over to Reed in one of the two Reed-aligned resolutions, then accepting Reed’s later offer to pursue treatment. Completing the expansion alone does not force V into this ending: you must choose to follow that offer.

The Tower epilogue is called Things Done Changed. CD Projekt Red Support says, “As there are no rewards gained during this epilogue, we allow the game and V’s story to simply end.” Support also confirms that you cannot return to the point of no return after completing it: CD Projekt Red Support: The Tower and the point of no return. Make a separate save before accepting the operation if you want to continue that playthrough instead of ending V’s story there.
When to save if you want to see multiple outcomes
- Before the base finale: make a manual save before entering the point-of-no-return sequence at Nocturne OP55N1. This preserves the chance to choose among rooftop routes you have unlocked.
- Before committing in Phantom Liberty: make a separate manual save before the decisive choice in Firestarter if you want to explore the Songbird and Reed branches.
- Before The Tower: keep another save before accepting Reed’s treatment offer. Completing Things Done Changed ends the story rather than returning you to the point of no return, according to CD Projekt Red Support.
Credits and small details can change with updates. For example, CD Projekt Red’s version 2.11 patch notes added a Reed credits message for endings other than The Tower. That is a reminder that an ending’s route and core outcome are more stable reference points than every line or credit detail.
