If Cyberpunk 2077 crashes on startup with Cyber Engine Tweaks (CET) installed, first disable all mods and test the game. A successful launch points toward CET or another mod; a continuing crash means you should investigate the game installation, drivers, overlays, and background apps instead. There is no confirmed universal Windows 11-specific CET fix.
Before troubleshooting, record the versions and symptoms
Note your Cyberpunk 2077 version, CET version, platform (Steam, GOG, or Epic), other installed mods or loaders, the exact error message, and whether CET produces a log. Also note whether the problem began after a game, mod, or graphics-driver update. These details help separate a compatibility issue from a general launch failure.

CD PROJEKT RED’s support form listed game version 2.31 as “Latest” when accessed on October 7, 2026. Game versions change, so check the current listing on the CD PROJEKT RED crash-support page rather than treating 2.31 as current indefinitely.
Does Cyberpunk 2077 launch with all mods disabled?
Disable or temporarily remove all mods, then try launching the game. CDPR-Modding-Documentation’s guidance for a startup crash is direct: “If your game crashes on startup, disable all your mods.” This is an isolation test, not proof that CET is the cause.

If the game launches without mods, isolate CET and other mods
- Re-enable components in a controlled order. Add CET and the other loaders or mods back one at a time, launching the game after each change. If the crash returns after a particular component is restored, test that component on its own before concluding it is incompatible.
- Compare the installed versions. Check that your game and CET versions are compatible with the current CET release information. The available evidence does not establish one current version pairing, so do not rely on an old version number as a compatibility guarantee.
- Check CET’s troubleshooting information and logs. Use the REDmodding CET troubleshooting guide for relevant installation checks and log guidance. A CET log can help narrow down a failure, but its absence alone does not establish a cause.
- Reset key bindings only when the symptom fits. If CET loads but its overlay or key configuration is the problem, the CET guide documents resetting
bindings.json. That is not a general remedy for a game process that crashes before CET loads.
If it still crashes without mods, check the game and Windows launch environment

- Verify the game files through your platform’s launcher.
- Disable overlays and close unnecessary applications. CD PROJEKT RED specifically advises disabling overlay features or the applications using them, including examples such as Discord, Ubisoft Connect, and Galaxy.
- Clean-install graphics drivers by following the graphics-card vendor’s instructions. If crashes began after a driver update, CDPR says reverting to the previous driver may help; report the issue as well.
The driver steps can affect your system configuration. Follow the vendor’s instructions carefully rather than using an unverified cleanup utility.

The official CDPR launch-issues article is dated December 16, 2020 and addresses older Windows 10 builds and Windows 7. It does not establish a Windows 11-specific fix. The available guidance supports a diagnostic sequence—test without mods, isolate CET and other mods, then check general launch causes—not a single confirmed Windows 11 defect or universal CET/game compatibility issue.

What to send CD PROJEKT RED Support
If the crash continues, submit a support request with the evidence CDPR asks for. The latest crash report is under %localappdata%REDEngineReportQueue; include stacktrace.txt and a DxDiag report.
- Your platform and game version, and whether Phantom Liberty applies.
- Whether you used mods, trainers, or console commands, and which ones.
- The exact error or crash behavior, whether CET created a log, and which isolation checks you completed.
- Whether the game launches directly from
binx64Cyberpunk2077.exe.
