CyberGhost is a reasonable 2026 choice if you want a large, inexpensive long-term VPN plan, seven simultaneous connections, and a 45-day refund window. Its value is less certain if you need guaranteed access to every streaming catalog or predictable speeds on every network. Gizmodo’s October 2026 test recorded a 13.3% average speed reduction and 11 successful streaming services out of 14, while CyberGhost’s NoSpy servers performed no faster than standard servers in that test. The lowest displayed price renews under different terms, so the checkout renewal amount matters more than the advertised monthly equivalent.
Verdict: good value, with conditions
CyberGhost’s strongest case is price-to-coverage rather than class-leading proof in every category. On October 13, 2026, its US site showed a 26-month introductory offer equivalent to $2.19 per month, seven simultaneous connections, and a 45-day money-back guarantee. The same site showed a six-month option at $6.99 per month and a one-month option at $12.99 per month. Longer introductory subscriptions renew automatically at the standard rate, and the exact renewal price is shown at checkout.

Independent evidence is encouraging but limited to one reviewer’s setup. Gizmodo tested a 190 Mbps connection against servers in the UK, United States, and Japan, measuring a 13.3% average speed drop and a 39 ms UK ping. It also unblocked 11 of 14 tested streaming services. Those figures are useful indicators, not a guarantee for your ISP, location, protocol, or destination.

CyberGhost plans, prices, and renewal terms
The following prices were displayed on CyberGhost’s US privacy-tools page on October 13, 2026. Promotional offers can change, so treat these as a dated snapshot rather than a permanent rate.
| Term | Displayed price | Initial billing | Money-back period |
|---|---|---|---|
| One month | $12.99 per month | Monthly | 14 days |
| Six months | $6.99 per month | $41.94 every six months | 45 days |
| 26 months | $2.19 per month | $56.94 for the first two years, then yearly | 45 days |
These displayed offers are documented on CyberGhost’s US privacy-tools page. The support explanation of plans and offers says subscriptions renew automatically. Longer-term introductory deals renew annually at the standard rate after the promotional period, with the precise renewal amount and conditions presented at checkout.
The two-year offer is not a lifetime price
The $2.19 figure is a monthly equivalent for an upfront $56.94 first charge. It is not what you should assume you will pay every month indefinitely. Before submitting payment, record the next renewal date, renewal amount, tax, and cancellation instructions shown in the checkout summary. If the renewal price is unacceptable, cancel before the renewal date rather than relying on the introductory figure.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesConflicting NoSpy-page pricing
CyberGhost’s separate NoSpy page displayed a different 26-month promotion when crawled: $1.99 per month, or $51.74 for the first 26 months. That conflicts with the $2.19 and $56.94 offer on the privacy-tools page. Do not average the numbers or assume both are available to the same account. The price and renewal terms shown in your final checkout are the authoritative figures for your purchase.
Refund eligibility
The one-month plan has a 14-day guarantee; the six-month and 26-month plans have 45-day guarantees. The support page says the guarantee does not apply to purchases made through Google Play, Apple’s App Store, or Amazon’s Appstore. Buying through an app store can therefore change the refund rules that apply to you.

Speed and latency: what the independent test actually shows
Gizmodo’s test conditions
Gizmodo’s October 2026 review used a 190 Mbps internet connection and tested CyberGhost servers in the UK, US, and Japan. Across that test set, the publication reported a 13.3% average speed drop and a 39 ms ping to a UK server.
A 13.3% reduction would leave roughly 165 Mbps from a 190 Mbps baseline under that particular setup, but that arithmetic should not be treated as a prediction of your result. Distance to the server, congestion, your ISP’s routing, the VPN protocol, Wi-Fi conditions, encryption overhead, and the speed of the destination service all affect throughput. A reader with a slower connection may notice little practical difference, while a user transferring large files over a fast fiber line may notice the loss immediately.
How to interpret the 39 ms ping
Latency matters more for video calls, cloud desktops, multiplayer games, and interactive remote work than for ordinary web browsing. The 39 ms figure is specifically a UK result from Gizmodo’s test; it is not a worldwide latency rating. A nearby server normally gives a better starting point than a distant one, but the best route can vary by ISP and time of day.
A practical speed check
- Run a speed test with the VPN disconnected and note download, upload, and ping.
- Connect to a nearby server and repeat the test using the same device and network.
- Test a second nearby location and, if the application offers protocol choices, compare the available protocols.
- Repeat at the time you normally work or stream; a single midday result can hide evening congestion.
- Keep the VPN server that gives the best balance of speed, latency, and access to the service you need.
This method separates a VPN problem from a weak Wi-Fi signal, an overloaded home network, or an ISP route that is already slow.
Streaming: broad access, not a universal bypass
Gizmodo reports that CyberGhost unblocked 11 of the 14 streaming services it tried. That is a strong pass rate for the tested sample, but it leaves three failures and says nothing about every country catalog, account tier, live event, or future anti-VPN change.

Streaming platforms routinely change the IP addresses they block. A server that works today may show a proxy error tomorrow, while another location works immediately. Service availability can also differ between a browser, mobile app, smart TV, and a device using a different DNS path. Do not buy a long plan solely because one catalog is important unless you are prepared to test that catalog during the applicable refund period.
When a stream is blocked
- Disconnect and reconnect to another server in the same country.
- Clear the streaming app or browser session so it does not retain a previous location signal.
- Check whether the service requires a billing account or content rights in the target country; a VPN cannot create a subscription entitlement.
- Try a nearby server for better stability, even if a distant server appears to offer the desired catalog.
- If access remains unreliable, use the refund terms rather than assuming every listed service will work for your account.
NoSpy servers: what is different and what is not proven
CyberGhost describes NoSpy as premium servers in Romania that are hosted and controlled in-house, with physical access limited to its internal staff. The claimed distinction is control over the server environment, administration, and access path compared with colocated infrastructure. That can matter to readers who value a narrower circle of operators handling VPN hardware.
NoSpy is not supported by the available evidence as a speed upgrade. In Gizmodo’s comparison, Bucharest NoSpy results were identical to standard-server results. The sensible reason to choose NoSpy is the stated infrastructure-control model, not an expectation of lower latency or higher throughput.
NoSpy availability and the promotional price are separate questions. The NoSpy page showed the conflicting $1.99 monthly equivalent, but that does not establish that the servers themselves require a different subscription or that the lower promotion will appear in your checkout. Confirm both the plan entitlement and final bill before paying.

The 2025 Deloitte assurance engagement
In its February 24, 2026 announcement, CyberGhost said Deloitte Audit Romania performed its third independent audit in 2025 under ISAE 3000 (Revised). The company described a scope covering the VPN server network, configuration and change management, incident-response controls, and tokenization for dedicated IPs. The announcement says the full assurance report is available through its privacy-audit page.

What the Q2 2026 transparency report says
CyberGhost’s Q2 2026 transparency report, updated August 6, 2026, lists 64,006 DMCA notices and five police requests for April through June 2026. The company explicitly warns: “These numbers represent notices received. They shouldn’t be read as a count of confirmed copyright infringements, individual users, or separate incidents.”
The figures therefore measure incoming notices and requests, not a count of subscribers, identified people, or proven violations. CyberGhost also says it does not keep activity or connection logs and describes a RAM-only server infrastructure. Those are vendor statements; they should be read alongside the audit scope and the provider’s current privacy documentation rather than expanded into a promise of immunity from legal process or all forms of tracking.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Connections, devices, and router use
CyberGhost permits seven simultaneous connections. That is enough for a typical phone, laptop, tablet, television, and a few household devices, but a busy family or small office can exceed the limit quickly. A connection normally refers to a device session, so signing in on more devices than the allowance does not mean all of them can be active at once.

Gizmodo notes that installing the VPN on a compatible router counts as one connection and can cover devices behind that router. This can be an efficient way to protect televisions, game consoles, and smart-home equipment that cannot run a VPN application themselves. The available evidence does not establish compatibility with a particular router model, firmware version, or internet provider, so confirm support for your hardware before buying a router specifically for this purpose.

How to decide which plan fits
Choose one month when flexibility matters most
The $12.99 monthly option has the shortest commitment and a 14-day guarantee. It makes sense for a temporary trip, a short test of a difficult streaming service, or a household that does not want an annual renewal risk. Its monthly equivalent is substantially higher, so it is poor value if you already know you will use the service for a year or more.
Choose six months for a middle ground
The six-month plan charges $41.94 at each six-month billing interval and includes a 45-day guarantee. It reduces the monthly equivalent without locking you into the largest first payment. Check the annual renewal condition because the introductory billing period does not continue indefinitely.
Choose 26 months only after checking renewal
The 26-month plan has the lowest displayed monthly equivalent and the same 45-day guarantee as the six-month plan, but it requires the largest upfront commitment and renews yearly after the introductory term. It is suitable for a reader who expects to use a VPN continuously, can afford the initial charge, and is willing to set a calendar reminder for cancellation or renewal review.

Strengths and trade-offs
Reasons to buy
- Low displayed long-term introductory pricing compared with the monthly option.
- A 45-day refund window on six-month and 26-month plans.
- Seven simultaneous connections, with router use potentially extending coverage to devices behind one VPN connection.
- Gizmodo’s test showed a modest average speed loss and a 39 ms UK ping on its 190 Mbps connection.
- Eleven of 14 tested streaming services worked in Gizmodo’s sample.
- NoSpy provides an in-house Romanian infrastructure option for readers who value operator control.
Reasons to hesitate
- Long-term introductory prices renew at a standard rate, so the first-term monthly equivalent can be misleading.
- The 26-month price differed between CyberGhost’s privacy-tools and NoSpy pages.
- Streaming success was broad but not complete, and results can change by catalog, server, and date.
- NoSpy did not outperform standard servers in the independent comparison.
- Seven connections may be limiting for a large household unless a compatible router is used.
- The audit and no-logging evidence is largely presented by CyberGhost itself and has a defined scope.
Recommended buying and testing checklist
- Decide whether you need a month, six months, or a multi-year introductory term.
- At checkout, verify the first charge, renewal amount, renewal date, taxes, and refund eligibility.
- Install the application on the devices you actually use and count active connections, including any router installation.
- Record an unprotected speed and ping baseline, then test a nearby server and the locations required for your work or streaming.
- Test the specific streaming services and country catalogs you care about instead of relying on a general unblocking claim.
- If the service fails your requirements, use the applicable refund window and keep the purchase channel in mind: app-store purchases have different eligibility according to CyberGhost’s support terms.
- If you keep the subscription, set a reminder well before the first renewal so the promotional rate does not become an unwanted annual charge.
Who should buy CyberGhost in 2026?
CyberGhost is a sensible shortlist candidate for a US reader who wants an inexpensive long-term subscription, several household connections, and a generous refund period, and who accepts that speed and streaming access must be tested locally. The 2026 evidence supports “good value with caveats,” not “fastest everywhere” or “works with every service.”
Choose the service only after checking the renewal amount if your budget depends on the introductory price. Choose NoSpy for its stated in-house operational control, not for a performance advantage. And treat the audit, transparency figures, and no-logging statements as evidence with specific dates and scopes rather than as an unconditional guarantee.
