The clearest reported trigger is a business update dated September 30, 2026, in which management expected July–September revenue to exceed ₹200 crore and raised its FY27 guidance to ₹800 crore in revenue and more than ₹250 crore in net profit. Index-linked buying and a possible future mid-cap reclassification may have added support, but neither has been shown to be the main cause of the move.
What the share price did
- Six-session window ending October 7, 2026: Upstox reported a maximum gain of 30% over those sessions and an intraday 52-week high of ₹344.75 on October 7. The stock advanced as much as 6.33% intraday that day and closed lower in only one of the six sessions.
- Later window, October 8, 2026: The Economic Times reported an NSE intraday high of ₹356.90 that day, up 3.76%, and described the gain since the September 30 business update as roughly 16%. That measures a different starting point and a different end date, so it should not be merged with the six-session figure.

The main catalyst: a guidance reset on September 30
Cupid’s business update on September 30, 2026 set out three forward-looking numbers. Management said total revenue for the July–September 2026 quarter was expected to cross ₹200 crore. It raised FY27 revenue guidance to ₹800 crore and net-profit guidance to more than ₹250 crore. The company attributed the upgrade to the factors below, as reported by Upstox and The Economic Times:

- Improved visibility in domestic and international markets
- Expansion in its FMCG business
- The Palava project
- Growth in healthcare and personal-care categories
Upstox quoted the company statement as follows, attributing it to Cupid rather than to a named individual:
#1 Best Overall
“Driven by sustained momentum across its key business verticals and improved visibility across domestic and international markets, the management has revised its FY27 revenue guidance to ₹800 crore and net profit guidance to ₹250 crore plus.”
Guidance and expectations are not reported results. The market reacted to a higher outlook; whether the outlook is delivered will show up only in later filings.
How big the guidance step-up is
The table places the new numbers beside the most recent reported figures. The filings are standalone, and the guidance basis is not specified in the reports reviewed, so the comparison below should be read as a rough scale check rather than a like-for-like audit.
| Metric | Period | Value | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue from operations | FY26 (year ended March 31, 2026) | ₹357.7088 crore | Audited, standalone (NSE filing; board approval May 15, 2026) |
| Net profit | FY26 | ₹108.2645 crore | Audited, standalone (NSE filing) |
| Revenue from operations | Q1 FY27 (quarter ended June 30, 2026) | ₹154.715 crore | Unaudited, standalone (NSE integrated filing; board approval August 7, 2026) |
| Net profit | Q1 FY27 | ₹44.1621 crore | Unaudited, standalone (NSE integrated filing) |
| Diluted EPS | Q1 FY27 | ₹0.32 | Unaudited, standalone (NSE integrated filing) |
| Total revenue | Q2 FY27 (July–September 2026) | Expected to cross ₹200 crore | Management expectation (September 30 update) |
| Revenue guidance | FY27 | ₹800 crore | Management guidance (September 30 update) |
| Net profit guidance | FY27 | More than ₹250 crore | Management guidance (September 30 update) |
What the guidance implies, using simple arithmetic
- Revenue: ₹800 crore is roughly 2.2 times FY26 revenue of ₹357.7 crore. If Q1 (₹154.7 crore) and the expected Q2 figure (above ₹200 crore) are both achieved, the second half would need about ₹445 crore, or roughly ₹222 crore a quarter on average. That is faster than the first-half pace.
- Profit: Q1 net profit was ₹44.2 crore. Reaching more than ₹250 crore for the year would require about ₹206 crore from the remaining three quarters combined, against FY26 full-year profit of ₹108.3 crore. Q2 profit has not been separately guided, so this is a total, not a quarterly target.
- Per-share context: Cupid allotted 1,07,57,28,560 bonus equity shares on March 10, 2026, following a 4:1 bonus approval. Per-share figures before and after that date are not directly comparable unless adjusted for the larger share count.
These calculations are simple division of the reported figures. They are not company statements about quarterly targets.
Index demand: the Nifty Smallcap 250 inclusion
Cupid’s entry into the Nifty Smallcap 250 took effect around September 30, 2026, according to Business Standard. Business Standard cited an estimate from Nuvama Alternative & Quantitative Research of possible passive inflows of $10 million. That figure is an analyst estimate of index-tracking demand. It is not a record of fund purchases and not a guaranteed amount.
Index inclusion can lift a stock’s price by adding passive buying, but it does not change revenue, profit or cash flow. Investors looking at whether the rally is earnings-driven should separate the two effects. The inclusion may explain part of the demand; the guidance explains why buyers may have revised their expectations.
The mid-cap reclassification report
An Equitymaster item dated October 7, 2026 said media reports suggested Cupid could move into the mid-cap segment in a future AMFI classification review. This is a possibility in reporting. It is not a confirmed reclassification, and the reports reviewed do not include a company announcement. If a move did occur, it would matter mainly to funds with mid-cap mandates, so it should be treated as a possible future factor, not a cause already in the price.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesOther announcements in the same period
- Warrant conversion: Cupid approved conversion of up to 30 lakh Baazar Style Retail warrants into an equal number of equity shares at ₹328.25 each. The reports reviewed do not describe the accounting or earnings effect of the conversion.
- South African manufacturing: The company received in-principle approval for a proposed asset-light manufacturing venture in South Africa with local-partner support. This is a proposal. No operating plant or earnings contribution is reported yet.
- Healthcare investment: A reported additional $5 million follow-on investment in GII Healthcare Investment Limited. The reports do not show any earnings from this investment.
Each of these items adds to the outlook narrative. None of them, on the evidence reported, is an earnings figure.
Valuation: what the available numbers do and do not show
INDmoney published a valuation analysis on September 30, 2026. Using a share price of ₹309 and its own trailing profit basis, it calculated a trailing price-to-earnings ratio of roughly 302 times. Measured against the upper end of FY27 profit guidance at that market capitalisation, it calculated roughly 185 times. These are third-party calculations based on a September 30 price. They are not exchange data and not current October 7 multiples.
INDmoney also noted that guidance is not guaranteed and that earnings and cash flow must catch up with expectations for the valuation to be supported. A current valuation requires a dated share price, the correct share count after the bonus issue, and a clearly defined earnings period.
How to read the rally from here
- If the question is what changed: The dated answer is the September 30 guidance update, which raised the FY27 outlook and gave a Q2 revenue expectation.
- If the question is whether index money supported the price: The available figure is an estimate of possible passive inflows. Confirmation would need actual index-rebalancing or ownership data from later periods.
- If the question is whether the outlook is credible: Compare Cupid’s Q2 FY27 revenue with the expected figure of more than ₹200 crore. Then check whether the second-half pace approaches the roughly ₹222 crore average quarter implied by guidance.
- If the question is whether the price is supported by earnings: Recalculate valuation on a dated price and a bonus-adjusted share count, using the earnings period you specify.
- If the question is whether a reclassification is coming: Watch for an AMFI announcement or a company disclosure. Until then, treat media reports as possibilities.
The six-session gain is well documented as a price move, but the explanations are reported catalysts, not proof of cause. Results for Q2 FY27, once filed, are the first test of whether the guidance reset holds.
