CtrlS has signed a non-binding Letter of Intent (LoI) with the Bihar government for a proposed 150 MW hyperscale AI data center at Bodh Gaya. The announced investment is ₹10,000 crore (about US$1 billion, according to contemporaneous reporting). Separately, the company has inaugurated a ₹400-crore data center in Patna’s Patliputra Industrial Area with an initially reported 12 MW IT load. The Patna campus is the operating, near-term project; the Bodh Gaya site remains a proposal with no publicly established construction or commissioning date.
What CtrlS announced in Bihar
The announcement combines two different developments. CtrlS signed an LoI with the state for a future 150 MW hyperscale AI facility at Bodh Gaya, while inaugurating a smaller Patna data center intended to serve customers now. An LoI records an intention to pursue a project; it is not the same as a completed financing, building permit, construction start or operating facility.

Data Center Dynamics reported the LoI and investment figure on October 15, 2026. The Times of India described the Bodh Gaya project as a 150 MW hyperscale AI factory agreed with Bihar’s industries department.
Patna facility: the capacity available sooner
The Patliputra Industrial Area campus represents a ₹400-crore investment and was inaugurated by Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. Its initial IT load was reported as 12 MW. CtrlS’s facility information lists two Patna sites:
#1 Best Overall
- Save valuable floor space: 6U wall mount server cabinet Dimensions: 13.78" H x21.65" W x17.72" D.Maximum mounting depth is 14.2"
- Keep critical network equipment secure: glass door and side panels are lockable to prevent unauthorized access. Front door can be installed on either side of the front of the cabinet to satisfy your door swing orientation preference
- Easy equipment configuration: Fully adjustable mounting rails and numbered U positions, with square holes for easy equipment mounting with top and bottom punch-out panels for easy cable access
- Durability: Made of high quality cold rolled steel holds up to 110lb (50kg) (Easy Assembly Required)
- PCI & HIPPA and EIA/ECA-310-E compliant
| Site | Listed IT load | Role and features |
|---|---|---|
| Patna Edge DC 1 | 0.50 MW | Part of the company’s Patna edge-data-center footprint |
| Patna Edge DC 2 | 11.6 MW | Part of the same regional campus |
| Patna facility, as reported at inauguration | 12 MW initial IT load | Newly inaugurated capacity for regional customers |
The two listed site figures total 12.1 MW, while inauguration coverage rounded the initial load to 12 MW. Those figures may reflect different reporting conventions or facility scopes, so they should not be treated as a precise expansion total without a company reconciliation.
The Patna campus is described as carrier-neutral, with multi-zone security and services supporting regional digital transformation. Its intended customer groups include enterprises, government institutions, hyperscalers and technology businesses in Bihar and eastern India.

Bodh Gaya project: what is known and what is not
Confirmed announcement
- Location: Bodh Gaya, Bihar.
- Planned scale: 150 MW.
- Positioning: hyperscale AI facility or AI factory.
- Announced investment: ₹10,000 crore, approximately US$1 billion in contemporaneous reports.
- Project status: proposed under a non-binding LoI.
Details not yet established
The available announcement does not provide a commissioning date, construction timetable, phased capacity schedule, final power mix, hardware specification or named anchor customer. It also does not establish that financing has closed, power has been secured, equipment has been ordered or construction has begun. Calling Bodh Gaya an operating data center would therefore overstate the evidence.

Patna gives businesses and public institutions a local data-center option without waiting for a greenfield 150 MW build. Carrier-neutral connectivity can allow customers to connect networks and cloud services through multiple carriers, while edge capacity can reduce the distance to applications used in Bihar and neighboring eastern markets. The announced customer scope—enterprises, government bodies, hyperscalers and technology companies—suggests a broad regional infrastructure role rather than a single-purpose site.

If the Bodh Gaya project is executed at its announced scale, 150 MW would be substantially larger than the initial Patna load and could support intensive AI computing, cloud platforms and other hyperscale workloads. The real economic and technical impact will depend on execution: reliable grid and backup arrangements, fiber connectivity, permitting, equipment deployment, operational staffing and enough customers to use the capacity.
CtrlS founder and CEO Sridhar Pinnapureddy said the company is “committed to strengthening Bihar’s digital infrastructure and building a robust IT ecosystem through our future-ready datacenters, designed to serve the evolving needs of hyperscalers, enterprises, and startups.” The statement describes the company’s objective, not a completed outcome.

At the inauguration, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said, “For the first time in Bihar, a data centre of this kind is being started. This will lay a new foundation for technological development and industrial transformation in the state.” That comment refers to the state’s development ambitions; it does not change the Bodh Gaya LoI’s non-binding status.

What to watch next
- A binding project agreement, land and permitting disclosures for Bodh Gaya.
- Evidence of financing, power procurement and network build-out.
- A published phasing plan showing when portions of the 150 MW could come online.
- Named customers or anchor tenants and details of AI computing equipment.
- Updates that reconcile the Patna campus’s 12 MW reported initial load with the 0.50 MW and 11.6 MW site listings.
Until those milestones appear, the clearest reading is straightforward: CtrlS has opened a roughly 12 MW Patna data-center operation and announced an ambitious 150 MW Bodh Gaya AI project that is not yet demonstrated to be under construction or in service.
